Luo Bai knew very well that defeating his opponent would be difficult when their strengths were so disparate, but that didn't an there was no way to win.
Although the mages of Kamar-Taj often relied on lee magic, he wondered why Modu was engaging in close combat when he was a master.
Magic should look like magic. With this thought, Luo Bai stopped his attacks.
Noticing Luo Bai's sudden halt, Modu asked, puzzled, "Why did you stop?! You must have only mastered this one magic, right?!"
Luo Bai shook his head and replied, "Of course not."
With that, he cast another spell, and Modu finally realized that Luo Bai was using magic to retrieve objects.
Object retrieval magic includes so basic principles of space magic; it's similar to creating a portal but slightly different.
Modu didn't stop him. In his opinion, even if Luo Bai managed to retrieve sothing, it would still be difficult to defeat him.
Moreover, the purpose of this competition was to see if Luo Bai truly mastered all the basic magic, and object retrieval was indeed one of those basic forms.
At that mont, Modu beca even more curious about how effectively Luo Bai could use this magic.
"Object retrieval magic?! For a mage, a good magic weapon can help win battles. That's a very clever approach. With your current ability, you probably can't control many magic weapons," Modu said with a smile.
This wasn't sarcasm; it was the truth.
There were many treasures in the Marvel universe, and so powerful artifacts could instantly enhance a person's strength. However, the more powerful a treasure was, the greater the skill usually required to master it.
It was unclear whether the magic weapon Luo Bai retrieved was truly powerful, but the key question was whether he could control it.
Luo Bai understood this.
Even he had no idea what he might retrieve; it was all a matter of fate.
If he wanted to defeat Modu, he would need an artifact.
He had so knowledge of artifacts in the Marvel universe.
For example, the Infinity Stones were very powerful artifacts, but controlling their power was incredibly difficult.
Even Thanos struggled to wield the Power Stone, so Luo Bai, with his smaller fra, probably wouldn't be able to use it effectively, even if he obtained it.
There was no need to risk his life for a minor competition. After considering this, he temporarily set aside the idea of retrieving an Infinity Stone.
Object retrieval magic requires imagining the location of the artifact in one's mind to open a spatial door and accurately acquire the desired treasure.
But because ti was short, Luo Bai couldn't think of any other artifact besides the Infinity Stone that could help him turn the tide of battle. He could only trust the whims of fate.
As he cast the magic, Luo Bai put his hand into the portal.
At that mont, Modu had no idea that what would happen next would exceed his expectations.
"Actually, Kamar-Taj has many excellent magic weapons. I could—wait...?!"
Modu initially wanted to say that there were many magic weapons in Kamar-Taj's armory. If Luo Bai truly needed one, he could lend him a few.
But in the next second, a hamr appeared in Luo Bai's hand. It was... Thor's Hamr?!
For a mont, Modu was stunned.
He, usually so composed, couldn't help but curse.
It wasn't surprising he reacted this way; he was utterly speechless.
Thor's hamr was the weapon of Thor, the son of Odin!
Why did Luo Bai have it?!
"How did you get Thor's hamr?!?" Mordo exclaid, his square face montarily contorting in shock.
Kamar-Taj monitors all movents on Earth, and its library contains many texts docunting knowledge about Earth and the multiverse.
There was no way Mordo didn't know what Thor's hamr was.
It was forged from a star and imbued with the power of Odin, the All-Father!!
How could Luo Bai fight with this weapon?!
How was this different from asking him to fight Odin himself?!
Modu was in disbelief.
Luo Bai was also stunned.
He felt surprised, but even more amazed.
Why had he forgotten about Thor's hamr?
This weapon had the blessing of Odin's enchantnt; only those deed worthy could lift it.
This ant that as long as you were recognized, it was easy to wield Thor's hamr.
Most importantly, it was incredibly powerful!
With the blessing of Odin's power, even a novice mage could master it!
Looking at Thor's hamr in his hand, Luo Bai felt a surge of confidence.
"You can continue," he said with a smile.
"..."
Modu fell silent; the silence was deafening.
After a while, he finally complained, "This is made from a star. We're just here to learn from each other; there's no need to be so serious, right?!"
"I just want to prove that I have indeed mastered basic magic," Luo Bai shrugged, speaking helplessly.
Modu smiled, responding with a slightly embarrassed tone, "You really are skilled at mastering it."
My Weishan Emperor.
Thor's hamr is Thor's exclusive weapon!
The Thors are in Asgard, which isn't even in the sa dinsion as Earth!
Not to ntion how Luo Bai obtained Thor's hamr, if he did manage to get it, he must have mastered inter-dinsional space magic!
That wasn't basic magic; it was an advanced form of space magic.
Many mages who had practiced for four or five years might not succeed, yet this guy had reached out to Asgard in such a short ti?!
"How did you do it? You mastered object retrieval across dinsions in such a short ti?!" Modu couldn't help but ask.
He wasn't the only one surprised; the Ancient One was also taken aback.
The commotion outside the main hall hadn't gone unnoticed by her. She was curious to see how far Luo Bai had progressed in his magic.
But she hadn't expected him to accomplish this in such a short ti.
"It seems there's nothing wrong with the future. He really is the Supre Mage," the Ancient One thought, her eyes widening in astonishnt.
It was incredible, but the Ancient One believed it.
The future was correct; it was she who had been mistaken.
With this in mind, the Ancient One stepped out and interrupted their discussion: "Luo Bai, co in for a mont. Mordo, please wait outside."
The sudden appearance of the Ancient One surprised both of them.
Luo Bai was a bit confused, but Mordo felt relieved.
Fortunately, the Supre Mage saved him and spared his reputation.
Otherwise, if a great mage like him were defeated by a novice, how could he teach newcors if the news spread?
Mordo quickly responded, grateful, "Yes, Supre Mage."
Then he stepped aside and waited obediently.
Luo Bai walked back into the temple, still puzzled.
"What's the matter, Supre Mage?" Luo Bai asked.
Before he could finish speaking, the Ancient One removed a magical artifact from around her neck and handed it to him: "This is the Eye of Agamotto. You must promise that from now on, you will protect it with your life."
"???"
Luo Bai was utterly bewildered.
Isn't this the Ti Stone?!
The Ancient One actually gave it to him?!
