Chapter 348: Black Panther
The energy shield was able to rge seamlessly with it, so Blaine walked inside without the slightest obstruction.
He had to admit that this energy shield was incredibly useful. It could lt into soil, sink into the depths of water, even rge with magma—and now it could integrate into this massive protective barrier as well. In that sense, didn’t it an he could pass freely through almost any substance, just like Vision? You could say this counted as Blaine becoming proficient with this skill.
The mont he stepped inside, Blaine imdiately felt that the atmosphere was completely different from the outside world.
There were still mountains, rivers, and vast forests, but the heavy scent of tal in the air was especially strong. It was nothing like the primitive jungles beyond the shield, which were filled with miasma and damp, decaying slls.
Looking around, Blaine realized that Wakanda’s periter wasn’t connected to the virgin forest at all. Instead, it was a flat plateau. Standing there, Blaine felt as though he had suddenly stepped onto open grasslands.
Before he could continue observing Wakanda’s technological structures further inside, a sudden sense of danger snapped Blaine awake.
He imdiately spread out his ntal power, while his energy shield tightened around him. After personally experiencing Wakanda’s national defense barrier, Blaine had developed a cautious respect for this mysterious country. Now, even the slightest anomaly was enough to put him on full alert.
Suddenly, about five kiloters ahead, Blaine’s ntal power was abruptly blocked—as if it had slamd into an invisible wall, completely cutting off his investigation.
"That’s strange,"
"What’s going on today?"
"It’s not that my ntal power is malfunctioning, and teleportation isn’t working either,"
"Could it be that Wakanda and I are naturally incompatible, and that’s why it’s suppressing ?"
"Hah, I’m a Bounty Hunter who never believed in fate to begin with,"
"I control my own life!"
Blaine roared silently in his heart and charged straight toward the direction where his ntal power had been obstructed. This was a classic case of knowing there were tigers in the mountains and still walking straight into them. Blaine had never been afraid of anything.
Five kiloters was an enormous distance for an ordinary person. Even a highly trained special forces soldier would be gasping for breath after running that far.
But for Blaine—
It was just two steps.
When Blaine arrived at the spot, whether by walking or running—it made no real difference to him, whether it was five kiloters, fifty, or five hundred—he suddenly noticed sothing unusual.
In front of him was a barrier similar to Wakanda’s outer shield, yet at the sa ti it resembled Blaine’s own skill.
The difference was that the barrier before him was green. It looked extrely thin, like a sheet of cloth, yet sohow felt incredibly solid—an odd contradiction, but undeniably real.
More importantly, this wasn’t a single shield. Many such barriers were linked together, forming a continuous whole. They fit together as perfectly as the fragnts of Blaine’s tal key. The connected shields blended seamlessly with the green grass beneath them—if you didn’t look carefully, you might mistake them for tall grass swaying in the wind.
Seeing this, Blaine already understood what was going on.
"So what’s this supposed to an?" he said calmly. "You co out to et , but you don’t dare show your faces?"
"You’re planning to hide like this?"
"Co out. I already noticed you."
Blaine spoke confidently toward the shields. To an outsider, it might have looked like he was talking to the grass, muttering to himself like a madman. But what happened in the next second would leave anyone completely stunned.
The mont Blaine finished speaking, the green barriers suddenly trembled. Then, all at once, they shifted aside. Behind them stood a group of burly n.
They wore strange clothing, like warriors from ancient tribes. Their bodies were powerfully built—not tall, exaggerated muscles, but dense, heavy fras layered with solid fat. The tal spears clenched in their hands radiated a combat strength that could not be underestimated.
Even more astonishing were the shields themselves. As they moved, those thin green barriers transford into cloaks draped over the n’s shoulders, their color shifting into that of ordinary fabric. Astonishingly, they really were cloth.
Looking at the force before him, Blaine felt genuine admiration rise from the bottom of his heart. This might very well be the strongest army on Earth.
Before Blaine could examine them more closely, the warriors suddenly split apart, forming two neat lines to his left and right, as if preparing to welco soone.
But before Blaine could step forward, another group suddenly appeared before him.
This ti, Blaine was very familiar with who they were—because they were all won.
Of course, it wasn’t because Blaine was especially lecherous that he paid attention to them.
These won might have looked slender, even delicate, but anyone who treated them as ordinary soldiers was simply ignorant.
Clad in red bodysuits, adorned with golden earrings, neck rings, and bracelets, and wielding weapons that looked utterly disproportionate to their physiques, the won made Blaine smile faintly.
The Dora Milaje.
Every King of Wakanda was protected by an elite guard skilled in all manner of weapons, and every mber of that guard was female, selected from the major tribes of Wakanda.
By Wakandan standards, they were both beautiful and powerful. So mbers of the royal guard could even beco potential queens. To a certain extent, this system functioned as both a loyalty oath to the throne and a political marriage competition among the tribes seeking to consolidate their influence.
T’Challa, who had received a Western education since childhood, once planned to abolish the royal guard. However, to avoid provoking strong opposition from conservative factions, he ultimately chose to retain them. Instead, he treated the mbers as sisters rather than future wives—what he considered the best possible compromise.
In addition to the Dora Milaje, there were also several strange old n with small plates embedded in their lips—a distinctive custom Blaine recognized from African tribal cultures.
Looking at the army spread across the plains and hills, Blaine’s excitent grew. Judging by their attire, he couldn’t distinguish the individual Wakandan tribes—but since he couldn’t tell them apart anyway, he simply assud all five tribes were present.
