The next day, everyone, carrying their own thoughts and expectations, boarded a magnificent and spectacular cruise ship. Not only was the ship grand in appearance, but its interior facilities were also extrely luxurious. Every detail highlighted its extraordinary status.
Since funds were plentiful, Wes Elwin and his three companions all stayed in extrely lavish suites. Each room ca equipped with a private bathroom and toilet, spacious and bright, elegantly decorated, and exceptionally comfortable.
While boarding, O'Connor unexpectedly ran into his forr comrade Benny. Their relationship was clearly not harmonious—hostile, even.
The mont they t, past grievances and conflicts were instantly reignited, leading to a heated quarrel.
"A group of Aricans hired him. I'll go find out what information I can."
After saying this, O'Connor turned without hesitation and strode quickly toward the deck.
Jonathan grumbled, "Who knows if he's really going to gather intel or just to drink." With that, he too hurried after O'Connor toward the deck.
anwhile, Wes and Evelyn chose to remain in their rooms. Each sat on their balcony, gazing out at the distant seascape, enjoying the refreshing and pleasant sea breeze brushing against their faces.
The cruise ship sped swiftly across the azure sea, its massive hull like a moving steel fortress cutting through the calm surface, leaving behind a white foamy wake. Seagulls circled overhead, their cheerful cries adding life and vitality to the journey.
Before long, night fell. A vast black curtain quietly draped across the sky. On the sea, the night looked especially tranquil, broken only by the occasional sound of waves. Lights on the cruise ship gradually lit up.
In the depths of the night, several small boats, like ghosts, silently approached the cruise ship in the darkness.
A group of mysterious figures, wrapped tightly in black robes, quietly climbed aboard.
Their movents were silent, like specters of the night, without drawing anyone's attention.
"They're here." Wes sensed the intruders.
He had no intention of dealing with them imdiately. Instead, he wanted to see for himself what that mysterious power within O'Connor truly was.
However, Evelyn's safety had to co first. Wes cast protective armor on her, then used a disguise spell to conceal himself.
That way, even if they were ambushed, Evelyn would still have so protection.
These mysterious n were highly trained, far surpassing ordinary people. Clearly, they were elite warriors honed through long years of strict training, displaying great agility and flexibility.
More importantly, Wes sensed the sa mysterious power in them as in O'Connor—though far weaker.
They were none other than the guardians of Hamunaptra—the djai warriors. For three thousand years, they had silently protected Hamunaptra from being discovered by outsiders.
"That power… is it the blessing of the Egyptian gods?" Wes wondered in his heart. "But why does O'Connor also have that power? Could he be a djai as well?"
As he sank into thought, the intruding djai warriors were spotted by O'Connor, and a fierce gunfight erupted.
With twin pistols in hand, O'Connor instantly beca a fearless fighter. Every pull of the trigger took down another djai warrior with ruthless precision.
Wes keenly noticed that during the battle, the mysterious power within O'Connor beca active.
His movents grew swifter, rging seamlessly with his weapons. Each shot seed perfectly calculated, with almost no wasted bullets.
Several tis, when bullets from the djai were about to hit O'Connor, sothing always intervened—perhaps a passing vase, or even an unlucky bystander caught in the fray.
All this was observed by Wes. What seed like coincidences were actually guided by so incredible force at work.
When the djai warriors died, the mysterious power within them transferred to O'Connor, making him fight with even greater strength.
That power felt like an invisible shield, not only protecting O'Connell but also granting him superhuman combat ability.
Wes realized that O'Connell's identity was not simple.
At this mont, the djai warriors began setting fire to the ship. The flas spread quickly, like a ferocious beast devouring everything in its path.
The roaring blaze lit up the dark night sky, crackling loudly.
Many people were burned alive, their screams echoing through the night, chilling to the bone.
Those with sense had already abandoned ship, since land was not far away.
In the end, the cruise liner was completely consud by the fire and sank.
After bringing Evelyn and Jonathan to safety, O'Connell began searching around.
"Wes? Where's Wes??" he called out anxiously, worried whether Wes had managed to escape unhard.
"I'm right here." Wes stood safely on the shore, completely unscathed. His clothes weren't even wet, as if nothing had touched him at all.
"How did you do that?" Evelyn asked curiously. Her innocent mind didn't think too much of it.
But O'Connell and Jonathan were far more cautious.
"Who exactly are you?" O'Connell's hand moved to the revolver at his waist, his instincts screaming that Wes was not an ordinary man.
Wes didn't answer directly. Instead, he shifted the topic. "Those Aricans are already moving out."
From the distance ca an untily shout. "Eat shit, O'Connell!" Benny jeered loudly. "I'll always be one step ahead of you!"
"Damn it, we need to hurry." O'Connell slung his pack on his back, feeling the weight of it. "We'll need to buy so cals."
They went to a nearby market, where they found a cal trader. After so bargaining, they bought six cals at once—two of them reserved for carrying supplies.
The cals were tall and strong, clearly well-suited for long journeys.
They quickly caught up with the Aricans, who had gathered dozens of n. It was obvious they planned to make a big move at Hamunaptra.
They were heavily ard and had clearly prepared thoroughly.
After several days crossing the desert, they finally arrived in a barren spot in the early hours before dawn.
There was nothing but scattered rocks, the surroundings silent except for the whisper of the wind.
"We're here." O'Connell patted his cal's head and gave the animals food and water. "Eat up, you'll need your strength soon."
Jonathan looked around, confused. Aside from the flat terrain, there was nothing remarkable here.
"Did you get the wrong place? This godforsaken spot has nothing."
O'Connell only smiled, ignoring Jonathan's complaint.
"The ti hasn't co yet. You'll see when it does." He kept the mystery alive, irritating Jonathan even more but greatly fueling Evelyn's curiosity.
As dawn broke, the first rays of sunlight stretched across the desert. Slowly, a vast ancient city erged on the horizon.
The city seed to rise straight out of a dream, shimring in the morning light like a mirage.
"What is this…??" Evelyn covered her mouth in shock. She stared at the sudden appearance of the ancient city, as if she had stepped into another world.
"No ti to waste, charge!!" O'Connell leapt onto his cal. "If we miss this mont, we'll never get into Hamunaptra!" With a sharp crack of his whip, the cal surged forward.
Wes and the others mounted quickly, riding close behind.
Dozens of cals thundered forward at once, kicking up a storm of dust. Wes used magic to speed up their six cals, allowing their group to rush into Hamunaptra ahead of the others.
"Benny, you're too late!" O'Connell mocked as Beni's group arrived behind them.
Benny had no choice but to lead the Aricans elsewhere to set up camp.
They were here for treasure, not to clash with O'Connell and his companions.
