By the ti I got back, I noticed Diorno leaving just in ti.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Nowhere. Just going to teach so people a lesson.” With that answer he gave, Diorno then left without saying any more.
“Okay….” I weirdly replied while watching his back as he matched on the road that leads to the main city of the Kingdom.
Realization quickly dawned upon but instead of stopping the man, I simply smirked and shook my head before entering the house.
Inside, I was t with the entire family full of smiles on their faces as Johann and his father sat on the dining table while a female cooks what I assu to be a simple soup from the kitchen.
Their faces lit up upon seeing enter the house.
“Mister Chamber!” Johann stood from the chair and ran towards , intending to hug.
Of course, as a polite and kind devil, I didn’t resist and spread my arms to welco him.
We both shared a hug and he separated first before saying.
“Thank you! For bringing back my mother!” As if on cue, the said mother dropped her kitchen utensils and washed off her hands before approaching .
“Thank you for giving another chance to be with my family, sir Chamber!” The father did the sa thing and bowed his head.
For the first ti, I felt imnse pride in my chest, I did sothing good, very good. I changed the fate of a family.
“It’s…okay. It’s part of my duty.” I smiled warmly and said, accepting their gratitude with an open heart.
“Please, eat my specialty. It’s the least I can do for what you did.” The mother offered, placing down the bowl full of soup on the table.
Although the soup looks and slls average, the fact that it is made with love makes it tastier than normal.
“Thank you for the al.” I cupped my hands together and thanked her after we all say on our own respective chairs.
The al was very pleasant, we chatted while we ate, it made learn that everyone here is a living being, not just so side characters in my life.
They’re alive, breathing and have their own share of stories to tell, not so people who you’d assu as a nobody.
They used to be kids, cared by their parents and living their lives.
It’s like when you t a random cashier in a convenience store and your mind just began to wander into the cashier’s backstory.
Like , the cashier also has her own problems, her own dreams, goals, achievents, mistakes and many more.
It’s such a fascinating thought, that they also lived their own story like you did.
I don’t know what this thing is called but I rember these kinds of thoughts have a na.
At this point, I felt myself tearing up, it’s like discovering that your linear life story has depth and that depth is the sa linear life story of the people around you.
Thankfully, I’m good at masking my feelings, so the al continued normally without having to deal with my weird reaction.
The soup, on the other hand, doesn’t taste that bad but not good either. It’s simple, like nature. Yet you can feel the love of its creator, like how God created the world, with love.
During our chat, I discovered that Johann’s father used to be a knight of the Great Britain, a great one at that. However, a stab on the back which is a huge sha for a knight, especially since it ca from a traitor, rendered him unable to exert his strength fully.
He can still do normal things but can no longer wield a sword like a proper knight.
So he was discharged with an average pay, which wasn't enough for him and his family. Hence the reason why they’re now living in the slums.
‘Now I’m tempted to overtake the entire Great Britain and rule it myself. But that would change the entire course of history and who knows, my intervention might attract unwanted consequences.’ Fortunately, I have great self-control, so the desire to rule disappeared.
This is part of history, the Great Britain’s traditions and culture’s downfall and the entry of the modern era, governnts and such.
Minutes passed and Johann’s mother insisted cleaning the table after we finished.
I offered to help of course but she vehently refused, saying that they owe too large already, that I should not add another pile on it.
I felt like laughing about it but held myself back and agreed.
Owe? Only sorcerers owe a Sorcerer Supre, normal humans doesn’t. Because if they do, the entire humanity on Earth owes all of their lives to the Ancient One and her predecessors.
Now that everything’s settled, I invited Johann to sit on the couch while I explained to him.
“Johann, can you retell everything that happened back there at the church with exact detail?” Hearing my request, Johann nodded hesitantly but before he explained, he said.
“But I could barely rember anything that ti.”
“It’s okay. Tell everything.” Obviously this is just a trick, a way to know more about Johann’s situation is simply to distract him while I read his mories.
“It’s like this…”
***
“I see.” I muttered to myself, nodding my head at Johann after he’s done with his vague explanation.
Thankfully, his mories, despite forgetting what happened due to trauma and imnse emotional distress, was able to retain everything that happened through Johann’s perspective.
“Johann. Do you trust ?” I asked first before dropping the news to him.
His parents were also seated on both his sides, worry etched on their faces as they awaited for my news.
“Yes, with my everything.” Without hesitation, Johann replied with a determined tone.
“Good. You were given a gift. From God.” I slowly started.
“A gift?” The three were confused.
“Yes, God’s gift to humanity. Power that would allow you to slay even the gods themselves. What you did back there in the church was caused by the awakening of your Sacred Gear. I believe it is very explosive and dangerous.” The more I explained, the more emotions swirled on their faces, among them was horror.
“But don’t worry. This is the reason why I’m here. As you know, I’m not a normal human, I’m a devil.”
“A devil?!” They quickly stood up in surprise, all except for Johann.
“I can understand your concerns but not all devils are evil, the only reason we’re branded as one is because most of us are evil. But enough about .” Calming them down, I continued.
“I’m here to take you in. Take you as my student, help you control that power inside you, control your fate and grow your strength.”
“The world is not normal, Johann. Humans aren’t alone. Every being you can think of, exists sowhere in this world. That’s why you need to be strong, not just for yourself but also for humanity.”
“I may be a devil, but my entire priority is to ensure humanity’s safety against the dangers of this world.” I can see the excitent growing in Johann’s eyes as he gulped his saliva.
“But, he’ll leave us. Can he even survive out there?” His mother expressed her concern, no mother wanted to part ways with her child, except for a few of course.
“Don’t worry, ma'am. This is not a problem.” With a demonstration, I waved my hand and conjured a portal, much to the amazed stares of the family.
“This is called a portal and it is very easy to learn, it’s similar to opening a door to anywhere you want. As long as you know this, you can create sothing like this no matter where you are and however you want.” Seeing their shocked faces, I grinned, earning an air of confidence around .
“I can…go anywhere I want to?” Wow, would you look at that, he seems to be amazed by the fact that he can now go anywhere he wants, not because he can go back ho whenever he wants.
Don’t worry, Johann. You’re not alone, I had the exact sa reaction as you do when learning the portal spell.
Actually, everyone does.
“That’s right. The only thing you’ll need is imagination.” I replied with a nod of my head.
***
Despite presenting the usefulness of the portal, it took a while to fully convince his parents, with assurance that Johann will always co back in one piece.
Though the last part is a lie but I’ll try my best.
Hopefully.
After sending Johann to pack his belongings, I portalled myself back to my temporary hideout to check on my other student.
This kid isn’t just so random kid, but a talented one. Perhaps more talented than Tam, but that’s only my assumption. I haven't trained him yet after all.
I’ll know when he does.
In the anti, I’ll bring these ‘fruits’ of my labor back and train them with my utmost best.
“Augustus! Co down, we’ll leave!” After my shout, I heard a hurried footsteps coming from the second floor before a black-haired child descended from the stairs.
“I’m coming, master!” Augustus responded. After giving him so ti to bath and gave him new clothes, the kid no longer looks like a bum but a certified citizen of a kingdom and a student of the Sorcerer Supre.
Of course, his clothes are just a bunch of simple shirt and pants, along with a brown robe.
“Looking good.” I smirked, making Augustus beam up in happiness.
I guess it’s his first ti being complinted for his appearance.
“Let’s go. It’s ti to leave.” Since he ca from being a bum, the kid doesn’t have anything to pack, so I reopened a portal back to Johann’s place just in ti as the latter is finished packing his items.
It’s mostly just so clothes and stuff.
“Ready?” I asked and he nodded.
Bidding farewell to his parents, I opened a portal back to the village, Grandpa Rad’s farmhouse.
“You two stay here and et my other two students, I’ll be back.” With that being said, I stepped back to the portal and returned.
My goal is Diorno, that guy must be causing havoc sowhere around here.
True to my words, my enhanced hearing heard a yell from a distance.
Is that a scream for help I’m hearing? Up, up and awa-! Ehem!
Without further ado, I disappeared from my place, testant to my incredible speed that makes a blur to the naked eye.
***
“Help! Hel-Ugh!”
Bam!”
“W-Why are you doing this to ?” In a dark alley, a man with a bloodied face tries to crawl away from a large man behind him with protruding muscles.
It was Diorno!
Sweat covered his heavy muscles as Diorno breathed heavily, he too was bloody but not as worse as the man crawling in front of him.
“Why am I doing this? I’m just doing god’s work.” Diorno replied, clenching his fist as he was about to bring down another devastating punch to the poor man’s face.
However before he could do so, he felt the muscles on his arm contract, as if sothing of an unknown force was pulling him back.
“Who?!” Diorno grew cautious, looking around him.
“You’re sinning, Diorno, you know that, right?” He heard a familiar voice.
“Chamber?”
