A few weeks passed and for so unknown reason, the villagers started giving treats, gifts, and even respect.

At first, I thought there was so sort of holiday going on in the village however, an entire week passed with receiving fruits and vegetables every day finally drove to ask soone for the reason.

Their answer however caught off guard.

“You have saved our village from the Boogeyman! Every week, at least 2 or more would vanish from the village only to be found in the outskirts—dead and mangled.” It only took a single second to realize that the villager was talking about the vampire I killed a few weeks ago.

Prompting the man to explain more, he happily continued.

“A few weeks ago, we noticed a dark shadow entering Old Rad’s farmhouse. We knew that he would be the next target of the Boogeyman along with his adopted kids. But for so reason, he and the children lived. Ever since then, the Boogeyman never appeared again. We asked old man Rad about it and he told us about you, a mystical sorcerer hailing from the land of sorcerers!”

“You, who vanquished the Boogeyman with his magical spells and rid of the filth that has been terrorizing our village!” After the man finished, he grabbed his basket filled with fruits from the ground and pushed it into my arms before running off to God knows where.

That old man, what has he been feeding these villagers with? I should’ve told him not to spread the word about the event.

Still, hearing the man’s explanation and how the vampire has been terrorizing a village, filled with a sense of satisfaction and fulfillnt.

It wouldn’t be a lie to say that the man’s words just gave more than enough reason to build the Masters of the Mystic Arts in this world.

Humans can’t protect themselves no matter even if God created the Sacred Gears for them. Humans need protectors and I’ll be happy to fill in.

I got back to the house and t up with Rad, whom I scolded for spreading the word about .

His explanation, however, was that he got drunk from the tavern—the exact sa place where I t God—and accidentally spilled so information about and what I did.

Thankfully, he was still sane enough to refer to as a sorcerer instead of a devil, or else I would find myself with hundreds of villagers carrying forks and knives.

He also didn’t say anything about pulling little Tam from the dead.

Suffice to say, Grandpa Rad just simply left with a few slaps on the wrist. I also made sure to tell him not to wander in the tavern or get anywhere near alcohol for a while.

His reaction makes it look as if he’d prefer more than a slap on the wrist than letting him avoid alcohol that he loved very much.

On the other hand, Tam’s older sister, Belle assud the role of treating my personal needs. Not the kind you’re thinking of but more like a housemaid.

Every day, I would wake up to see her cooking breakfast for , Tam, and Grandpa Rad, then, she’d also wash my clothes and robes. Sotis she would go out to buy so necessary needs around the farmhouse.

Although I appreciate what she was doing however, I don’t like taking advantage of a young lady of her age, so I told her about it and instead told that she insisted on doing those things, as she felt like having a purpose in life instead of being a burden.

Well, what more can I say? So I decided to leave her be and do what she wanted to do.

The next day, I was busy teaching little Tam about the proper way to guide his Demonic Energy inside him when suddenly, I heard a knock on the door.

Confused as Grandpa Rad was supposed to be away from the village as he was settling in so business deals concerning his horse ranch. So the one on the door shouldn’t be him.

Wary, I used my magical sense on the person outside and sighed in relief after realizing it was just a normal human.

Opening the door, I was greeted with the sight of an old man wearing what seed to be casual robes and garnts. His kind smile radiated.

“May I help you?” I smiled back of course. It would be rude not to do so.

“Good morning, great sorcerer, as the Chief of this village, I believe it is only right for to give you my gratitude and a few offerings for your great deed of eliminating the village’s boogeyman.”

Ah shit, here we go again.

“Chief, it’s not like I don’t want your gifts, in fact, I’m grateful for them but you see, I’ve been receiving too many gifts and don’t you think it's already enough?” Although my words sounded a bit rude, the village Chief simply laughed in reply.

“Ah, I see what the esteed sorcerer is talking about but please allow to explain first. The gifts I was giving you are vastly different from fruits and vegetables. I am offering you a portion of the village’s land…”

Ain’t that convenient? Here I was wondering where will I get enough cash to buy a land and establish the world’s first Sanctum Sanctorum but with God’s will, he gave the opportunity and it would be rude of to refuse it right? So I didn’t hesitate to ask the village Chief.

“Where?”

***

When soone says the word big, how big do you think it is?

Well, let go first. So big!

After following the village Chief and resisting the urge to grab the old man and fly because of how slow he walks with his cane, we finally arrived at the outskirts of the village.

Not totally an outskirts since the land was just behind the village Chief’s ho. The only reason I call it the outskirts is because of how wide the land he gave is, almost going past beyond the village’s boundaries.

If I were to asure it, I’d say it is as large as a football stadium.

“Hey, are you sure you’re giving this all to ? It’s a bit big, don’t you think?” My lips quivered as the old man shrugged his shoulders and said.

“Well, there’s actually a reason why this land remained unused and untouched by even the next village nearby.” My ears perked up at his words, I could sll sothing supernatural about this ‘reason’.

As if sensing my interest, the village Chief continued.

“There was a rumor spreading around that wandering inside this forest will make you feel like soone is watching you. So people even said that if you stayed long enough, you’ll notice the trees moving, grasses reaching the height of a human and even the howling of wolves can be heard. Since then, no one was brave enough to venture inside whether alone or not.” His words left staring at the forest with a hint of excitent.

Who wouldn't be, this sounds like sothing that ca out of a fantasy novel.

“So the reason you decided to give this land to is because you thought as a sorcerer, I might know sothing about it?” I turned my head to the Chief and asked, watching as he shifted and squird uncomfortably under my gaze.

“W-Well, I-I didn’t want to offend the esteed sorcerer, if you want, I could offer you another one, without th-”

“Are you kidding ? Why would I need another one? This one’s perfect for !” My answer seed to have caught the chief off guard.

Sighing in relief, the chief wiped off his sweat.

He probably thought I was mad about it. I wouldn’t bla him, not every day you get to et a sorcerer and you have no idea what the said sorcerer thinks all the ti.

“R-Really? I-I thought you were… never mind that. Anyways, I’ll be happy to give you this entire portion of land and even recomnd you to my n, they’re good at building hos, actually, they’re the ones who built all the structures in the village.” I can sll pride emanating from him.

Right, I guess construction companies don’t exist during this ti yet. Should I consider making one? There are so many opportunities to own and lead several industries in this world.

I should think about it once I’m settled in.

After bidding farewell to the old Chief, who will handle the ‘paperworks’ or whatever for officially giving this land.

As for , I opened a portal back to the farmhouse and told little Tam to continue practicing controlling his Demonic Energy before going back.

With no more problems behind , I excitedly ventured forward and entered the forest.

The forest itself looks pretty much a normal forget except that the aura around feels a bit lively and more naturish.

It’s a bit hard to explain but inside the forest, the trees and grasses feel more alive and greenish as if nature itself originated in this place.

True to the rumors that the Chief told earlier, I could feel several stares on , yes, several stares, not just one.

I tried using my magical senses however I sensed nothing unusual except for the abundance of magical energy around this place.

Now that itself is the weird one. How can a forest in the middle of nowhere have such an abundance of magical energy?

Unless it was made with purpose!

As if proving my words once I got deep enough into the forest, I felt the magical energy move. Wary, I heightened my senses and noticed that it was directed towards the trees and grasses themselves.

In front of my eyes, I saw the trees move, their trunks extending forward, leaves enlarging.

The sa goes for the grasses, they also extended and slithered around like snakes.

However, despite seeing all this, I stayed calm. Why?

With the help of my magical senses, I could tell that these things were re illusions, so I stood still and watched in amusent as the trees and grasses tried to attack but passed through instead.

“Nice trick. How about coming out now, whoever you are.” I chuckled and yelled, knowing that whoever was doing this, knew where I was.

Exactly as I finished my words, the illusion shattered, returning the forest to what it looked like before.

At the sa ti, my senses picked up a few presence approaching my location.

Quickly fixing my appearance by spitting on my hands and using them to push my hair back, I tugged my robe a few tis to remove the small wrinkles.

I cleared my throat just in ti as five figures finally arrived, standing in front of with wary stances.

Their slender arms hold what seem to be bows with nocked arrows.

Okay, they see as a threat despite fixing my appearance, great.

“I an you no harm, ladies and…ladies?” Huh, now that I stare at them one by one, all of them are a bunch of ladies.

Their faces are covered in simple wooden masks, covering everythjng except for their long hair that cascades past their shoulders along with their…ears?

Hold on, why are their ears pointy?

“Devil! What is your business here in our forest? State your intentions or we’ll shoot you with our holy imbued arrows!” My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a woman with long green hair, almost as green as the grasses around the forest.

True to her words, I could feel a chill down my spine upon sensing the holy energy radiating from the tip of their arrows.

Great, it looks like I just delivered my ass to death.

“Calm down, ladies. Yes, I am a devil but not the devil you’re thinking. I’m not a bad devil.” I then raised my hand to prove I was harmless.

However, silence ensued as soon as I finished my words.

Goddammit, what kind of a devil says that he’s not bad? It’s like seeing a devil praying in a church with a Bible.
