[Drax looked up at the spacecraft in the sky with obvious dissatisfaction and irritation, shouting loudly, "Hey!!! Watch where you're shooting!"]
[Inside the damaged spacecraft, Nebula continued screaming in agony as massive amounts of electrical current coursed through her cybernetic systems, her body convulsing from the improvised power transfer.]
[Yondu quickly spun the steering wheel to control the spacecraft's rotation, and the weapons array began sweeping in a wide arc, systematically destroying all the remaining Sovereign vessels that had sohow survived their initial counterattack.]
[High Priestess Ayesha watched the devastating scene with complete disbelief, her perfect features contorting with shock. The next second, the command spacecraft she was piloting was also caught in the destructive laser sweep and destroyed in a brilliant explosion.]
[She looked around desperately and found that her entire battle fleet had been completely annihilated in a matter of seconds.]
["No! No! No! This cannot be happening!!!"]
[She was so consud with rage that she began repeatedly striking the control panel with her fists. She knew with absolute certainty that she was in serious trouble with the Sovereign High Command!]
[Two of the destroyed Sovereign spacecraft, their hulks still burning, collided with each other in a spectacular crash, and then the remaining wreckage plumted directly toward Yondu's ship.]
[Star-Lord, who was still recovering inside the spacecraft, saw debris and sparks falling throughout the cabin and imdiately shouted in alarm.]
["The whole ship is about to explode!!!"]
[Yondu imdiately brought his whistle to his lips and blew the distinctive tune that controlled his Yaka arrow.]
[The next second, their spacecraft exploded violently in mid-air, emitting enormous flas that completely engulfed all three people inside the blast.]
[Gamora's eyes widened in horror, her pupils shrinking to pinpoints, "Peter!!! No!!!"]
[Through the thick cloud of black smoke and debris, a figure fell steadily from the sky toward the ground. Gamora looked closely and realized with relief that it was Nebula, apparently unhard.]
[The two sisters made eye contact for a mont, then Nebula looked upward, and Gamora quickly followed her gaze.]
[Star-Lord and Yondu, one relying on his jet propulsion system and the other floating gracefully with his whistling arrow, slowly descended from the sky through the smoke.]
[Gamora couldn't help but release a deep breath of relief when she saw this miraculous survival. Star-Lord looked up at Yondu's elegant floating posture and couldn't help but burst into laughter, "Hahaha!"]
[Yondu frowned with confusion, "What's so funny about nearly dying?"]
["You look exactly like Mary Poppins floating down like that!"]
[Star-Lord nodded enthusiastically, "Oh yeah! And she's definitely cool!"]
[Yondu imdiately shouted proudly to everyone below: "Hey! Everyone! Look at ! I'm Mary Poppins!"]
[The two of them gracefully landed on the rocky ground as burning wreckage from destroyed spacecraft continued crashing around them, creating huge columns of fla and smoke.]
[Everyone assessed the chaotic situation around them as Gamora and Drax moved closer to rejoin their teammates.]
[Gamora and Star-Lord exchanged aningful glances, both relieved to see the other alive.]
[Rocket also returned to the group wearing his personal jet pack, and they naturally gathered together in a formation reminiscent of the legendary Avengers.]
[Mantis remained crouched on the ground, using every ounce of her psychic strength to maintain control over Ego's consciousness, when suddenly a large piece of burning debris flew through the air and struck her directly, knocking her completely unconscious.]
[It was only after she had already been hit that Drax realized the danger and shouted desperately, "Mantis! Look out!"]
[But Mantis, who had already collapsed into unconsciousness, obviously couldn't hear his belated warning.]
[After losing Mantis's crucial psychic control, Ego imdiately regained full consciousness and awareness.]
[Brilliant white energy could be seen flowing across the ground like liquid light, racing toward the distance, and then the organic root systems that had previously dimd began lighting up again with renewed power.]
[Drax quickly picked up the unconscious Mantis and carefully checked her for serious injuries.]
["She's just unconscious from the impact!"]
Scott Lang frowned with concern as he watched the developnts, "Oh no! They're in serious trouble now! I wonder if Baby Groot can actually complete the mission?"
Bruce Banner voiced his own doubts: "Let's not even talk about whether he can rember which button to press. At this point, it might be physically impossible for him to reach Ego's core!"
At this mont, the Earth-based rescue team had already boarded their modified spacecraft, departed from their ho planet, and were making rapid interstellar jumps to rendezvous with Yondu's forces.
Nebula had also successfully tracked down Yondu's current whereabouts, thanks to the fact that they had recently left and hadn't traveled beyond a reasonable search radius.
High Priestess Ayesha clenched her fists in barely controlled fury. She had failed spectacularly in the screen, and she had also failed catastrophically in reality. This humiliating defeat was causing the High Evolutionary to seriously question her competence, and the Internal Council was expressing profound dissatisfaction with her leadership.
However, the crushing defeat of the Sovereign forces did not an that the High Evolutionary was abandoning his hunt for Rocket Raccoon. After Ayesha's spectacular failure, he had already dispatched specialized personnel from the Orgcorp division to resu the pursuit of his escaped test subject.
They had also demanded that the remaining Sovereign forces cooperate fully with their operations and capture subject 89P13 alive, or at the very least bring back his intact brain for study.
[Deep inside Ego's core chamber, Baby Groot ran as quickly as his tiny legs could carry him through the organic tunnels, clutching the ard bomb, but soon he ca to a confusing fork in the underground passage.]
[He looked around curiously and noticed that one pathway was completely pitch black, while the other direction was brilliantly illuminated with welcoming white light, so he decisively ran toward the location that seed more inviting.]
[Outside in the cavern, Star-Lord asked Rocket with growing urgency: "How much ti do we have left until the bomb explodes?"]
[Rocket responded with characteristic nonchalance: "If nothing goes catastrophically wrong and Groot doesn't accidentally blow us all up, we still have about six minutes!"]
[At this critical mont, everyone suddenly noticed a brilliant light source above their heads, and they all raised their eyes to look upward.]
[They discovered that during Ego's violent awakening process, he had accidentally torn open a massive crack in the cavern ceiling above their position, and natural light was streaming in through the opening.]
[Yondu imdiately pressed the communication device attached to his collar.]
["Kraglin! We desperately need a ship to extract us from this location!"]
["Yes, Captain!" Kraglin imdiately took control of his vessel and flew at maximum speed toward the planet's surface.]
[Star-Lord shouted tactical orders: "When Kraglin arrives at the extraction point, soone needs to get up there to et him! Drax! Take Mantis to safety!"]
[After delivering these instructions, he removed his personal jetpack from the nano-storage unit and attached it securely to Drax's muscular back. The jet propulsion system imdiately expanded to cover his upper torso.]
["Ow! My nipples!!!" Drax scread in surprise and discomfort as he was launched upward by the unfamiliar technology.]
[Large amounts of rocky debris began falling from the damaged ceiling, and the ground beneath their feet started developing dangerous cracks. Gamora lost her footing and accidentally fell into one of the widening fissures.]
[Star-Lord yelled in desperation, "Gamora!!!"]
[But since he no longer had his jetpack available, he was completely unable to pursue and rescue her.]
[The ground beneath their feet continued fracturing and collapsing, and then several massive organic tentacles erged from the soil with threatening movents.]
[Rocky debris reford itself into Ego's crude facial features, and he roared with divine fury, "Peter!!! You will pay for this betrayal!"]
[Gamora scread as she plumted downward through the collapsing cavern, surrounded by Ego's writhing root systems, but she managed to fall through the hollow spaces between these organic structures.]
[Gamora desperately reached for any of the passing roots but couldn't establish a grip on any of them, and just when she was certain she was about to fall to her death, Nebula ca diving after her.]
[At the precise mont she caught Gamora, Nebula extended her cybernetic arm and drove her chanical fingers directly into a massive stone pillar, using this desperate technique to arrest their fall and absorb the impact force while maintaining a firm grip on her sister.]
[Nebula gasped heavily from the exertion and carefully lifted Gamora onto the relative safety of the stone ledge, then pulled herself up as well.]
[Gamora turned around and looked with genuine gratitude at Nebula, who had risked her own life to save her.]
[Nebula noticed her sister's emotional expression and responded with characteristic pride and defensiveness: "Don't read too much into it!"]
