[Looking at the massive creature bearing down on them from the distance, everyone began to tense up for what was clearly going to be their ultimate test.]
[Natasha was genuinely stunned by the sight: "I... I don't think this is the kind of party you had in mind!"]
[As the Leviathan approached at ground level, Banner calmly surveyed his surroundings and walked directly toward the oncoming threat.]
[Captain Arica called out from behind him: "Dr. Banner! Now might be a really good ti for you to get angry!"]
[Banner continued walking and turned back with a slight, knowing smile: "That's my secret, Cap."]
[When he turned forward again, his expression had transford from amused to deadly serious: "I'm always angry."]
[The mont those words left his lips, Banner's transformation into the Hulk was instantaneous. He spun around and delivered a devastating punch directly to the Leviathan's armored head, stopping the massive creature's forward montum completely.]
[The creature's trendous inertia caused its rear section to flip over and crash forward in a spectacular display of physics, with pieces of its armor plating breaking away and scattering across the street.]
[Everyone below felt their expressions change as they witnessed the raw power of Banner's transformation.]
[Tony flew back into position and shouted a warning: "Hold on!"]
[He imdiately fired a bunker-buster missile that struck the Leviathan's exposed underbelly.]
[Captain Arica instantly raised his shield to protect Natasha from the incoming debris, Hawkeye sprinted to the side for cover, and Thor raised Mjolnir, prepared to deflect any large chunks of the creature that might threaten the team.]
[The massive explosion tore the entire Leviathan apart, sending burning fragnts in all directions. Its enormous head separated from the body and crashed down from the overpass onto the sidewalk below with earth-shaking impact.]
[The Chitauri warriors clinging to the buildings on both sides witnessed this devastating defeat and responded with enraged battle cries.]
[Hulk answered their challenge with a thunderous roar of his own. Tony slowly descended to hover at the center of the assembled Avengers, and the team naturally ford a defensive circle, each mber facing outward to cover all possible approaches.]
"Incredible! Hulk's strength is phenonal! That's comparable to stopping that runaway train!" 1st Generation Spider-Man watched in amazent as Hulk flattened such an enormous Leviathan with a single punch, imdiately recalling his own heroic mont.
"His punch actually dented that monster's armored head! How is that even possible?" 1st Generation Gwen grabbed Tobey Spider-Man's hand, finding it difficult to comprehend the level of strength the Hulk possessed.
"He's definitely stronger than I am! Just look at the size difference - his muscles are thicker than my entire torso!" 1st Generation Spider-Man examined his own relatively modest build, then compared it to Hulk's massive physique.
"Hahaha! You're going to have so serious self-esteem issues if you keep comparing yourself to people stronger than you, Peter!" 1st Generation Harry couldn't help but laugh at his friend's analysis.
[Loki sat aboard his commandeered Chitauri craft, and upon hearing the earth-shaking roar that echoed throughout the area, he gave a cold, calculated order: "Send the rest."]
[Two additional Leviathans could be seen erging from the wormhole, their massive forms undulating through the portal like nightmarish sea serpents.]
[Natasha imdiately spotted this developnt and called out with obvious concern: "Guys!"]
[Tony looked to their natural leader: "Call it, Cap!"]
["Alright, listen up! Until we can close that portal, our priority is containnt!"]
[He turned toward Hawkeye with specific tactical orders: "Barton! I want you on that roof, eyes on everything! Call out patterns and strays!"]
["Stark! You've got the periter! Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash!"]
[Hawkeye looked at Tony expectantly: "Can you give a lift?"]
["Right! Better clench up, Legolas!" Tony responded imdiately, grabbed Hawkeye by his tactical vest, and launched them both skyward.]
["Thor! You need to slow them down! You've got the lightning - light the bastards up!"]
[Thor nodded grimly and took flight, spinning Mjolnir to build montum.]
["You and , we stay here on the ground," Cap said to Natasha, "keep the fighting here."]
[Black Widow nodded silently, understanding the tactical importance of their street-level position.]
["Hulk!"]
[The green giant heard his na and turned toward Captain Arica with obvious interest.]
["Smash."]
[Hulk's face broke into a savage grin of anticipation. He imdiately leaped to a nearby building and grabbed a Chitauri warrior that was firing energy blasts at civilians, driving it headfirst into the concrete wall.]
[He seized the stunned alien by its head and launched himself to the opposite building. The Chitauri forces there were clearly unaware of Hulk's capabilities and continued firing their energy weapons at him at close range.]
[Hulk backhanded one of them with enough force to embed it in the wall, then grabbed another and hurled it out into the street below.]
[Without pausing, he leaped upward and caught another Chitauri warrior mid-flight, used his feet to push off the building wall, and launched himself across the street while throwing his captive through a window into the opposite structure.]
[Hulk continued his relentless assault, but was intercepted mid-leap by a passing Chitauri assault craft. This only served to enrage him further - he punched one of the vehicles with such force that it exploded instantly in mid-air.]
"So brutal! But I absolutely love it! This kind of situation is exactly what the Hulk was made for!" Tony quietly set down the device he had been working on to focus entirely on the action.
"Banner still hasn't achieved complete control over the Hulk, but I think that day isn't too far off! It just requires a little more ti and practice!"
"I believe that day will co sooner than we think!" Captain Arica was obviously very confident in Banner's eventual success.
"The Captain commands real respect! Even the Hulk is willing to follow his orders!" Natasha crossed her arms and offered genuine praise for Steve's leadership abilities.
"Oh, co on, Natasha!" Captain Arica looked at her with obvious embarrassnt. He had noticed that ever since the Ultron incident, Natasha had developed a habit of teasing him at every opportunity.
[Thor flew to the top of a nearby skyscraper, positioned himself at its peak, and looked up at the massive tear in reality above them. He raised Mjolnir toward the sky, and the previously clear weather imdiately transford into a storm system of his creation.]
[Dark clouds gathered with supernatural speed, and a massive bolt of lightning struck his hamr. The electrical energy imdiately began coursing through the entire building structure beneath his feet.]
[The trendous electrical current instantly shattered every window in the skyscraper, and wherever the lightning energy passed, glass exploded outward in cascading waves.]
[After accumulating sufficient power, Thor directed Mjolnir toward the wormhole and released a devastating lightning strike directly into the portal. The massive electrical discharge destroyed nurous Chitauri assault craft that had just erged from the gateway.]
[Even the mighty Leviathans couldn't withstand the power of Asgardian lightning and were killed instantly by the electrical assault.]
[anwhile, in the SHIELD helicarrier command center, Nick Fury was monitoring major dia coverage of the battle unfolding in New York, his expression grim as he processed the scale of the crisis.]
["Sir! The World Security Council is online!"]
[Hearing Hill's announcent, Fury let out a weary sigh and reluctantly turned off the video feeds.]
[High above the battlefield, Hawkeye had taken position on a rooftop and was providing overwatch with his specialized arrows: "Stark! You've got a lot of company incoming on your six!"]
["I'm working on it!"]
[From his elevated position, Hawkeye could see tactical opportunities that weren't visible at ground level: "They don't bank worth a damn! Find a tight corner!"]
[He fired an arrow without even looking back, and it struck one of the pursuing craft with perfect accuracy.]
["I'll try to lead them off!" Tony imdiately began searching for suitable terrain to exploit.]
[Hawkeye remained focused on his overwatch position, targeting a craft that was pursuing Tony. He fired a specialized thermite arrow that, upon successful impact, generated extrely high temperatures that literally lted the alien vehicle's hull.]
[Tony executed a sharp deceleration maneuver, allowing his pursuers to overshoot his position before eliminating them with precisely aid repulsor blasts.]
