[Captain Arica responded with growing determination: "Neither am I! Fury and Loki both played a role in Coulson's death! But right now, we need to focus on the bigger picture!"]

["Loki's going to need a power source. If we can figure out what he's planning..."]

[Tony wasn't paying attention to Captain Arica's tactical analysis. Instead, he turned and stared at the exact spot where Coulson had died, where traces of the agent's blood were still visible on the deck plating.]

[He suddenly interrupted Captain Arica's train of thought: "He made it personal!"]

[Captain Arica clearly didn't understand the significance of Tony's observation: "That doesn't matter right now!"]

["No, this is everything! This is about Loki's psychology! He knows us - he's done his research on each of us individually. But why?"]

["To divide us," Captain Arica imdiately grasped the implication.]

["Exactly! Divide and conquer! But he knows that's only a short-term strategy. The only way to truly win is to defeat us publicly!"]

["He has to conquer us, and he wants an audience for it! He wants people to see!" Tony's voice grew more animated as the pieces fell into place in his mind.]

["Right! Just like in Stuttgart!" Captain Arica was beginning to follow Tony's logic.]

["Exactly! But that was just a preview, a dress rehearsal! Today's the opening night! Loki is a full-tilt diva!"]

["He wants flowers, he wants parades, he wants a monunt built to the skies with his na plastered across it!"]

[As Tony spoke these words, he suddenly stopped, realizing exactly which building in New York would perfectly fit Loki's galomaniacal requirents. Captain Arica also looked at Tony with a knowing expression that seed to say: "Are you talking about yourself?"]

["Son of a bitch!" Tony imdiately headed for the exit.]

"Hahaha! That's a perfect description! Absolutely perfect! He's basically describing a carbon copy of Tony Stark! Hahaha!"

"This is hilarious! After all that analysis, the target turned out to be himself?"

"Classic Tony Stark - he described his own personality traits without even realizing it!"

Tony covered his face with his hands. Only when watching from the outside could he truly feel this level of social mortification. He hadn't felt embarrassed at all when he was actually saying those words.

Scott looked between Captain Arica and Tony with obvious amusent, understanding perfectly the expression Cap had worn in the sky screen.

[At the top of Stark Tower]

[Dr. Erik Selvig was making final preparations for the portal device, his movents precise despite being under Loki's ntal influence.]

[Captain Arica arrived at the dical bay where the others were recovering: "Ti to go!"]

[Black Widow looked up with confusion: "Go where?"]

[Ti was critical, and Captain Arica didn't have the luxury of lengthy explanations: "I'll fill you in on the way! Can you fly one of those jets?"]

[Hawkeye erged from the adjoining washroom, fully alert and ready for action: "I can."]

[Captain Arica glanced at him, then looked to Natasha for confirmation. She gave a slight nod of approval.]

["Do you have a suit?"]

["Yeah."]

["Then suit up!" He turned and left to make his own preparations.]

[anwhile, Thor slowly bent down and lifted Mjolnir from the crater where it had fallen. Captain Arica retrieved his shield from the wreckage. Hawkeye slung his tactical quiver across his back and checked his equipnt.]

[Tony had managed to repair the Mark VI armor enough to restore basic functionality, though it was still showing signs of significant damage.]

[Thor raised Mjolnir toward the storm clouds gathering overhead. Lightning struck the hamr with trendous force, and his Asgardian armor materialized around his body in a display of otherworldly power.]

[Captain Arica led Natasha and Barton directly to one of the Quinjet aircraft. A SHIELD crew mber on board quickly stood up to intercept them: "Hey! You can't just commandeer this aircraft!"]

[Captain Arica looked at him with apologetic determination: "Son, I'm sorry."]

[He then proceeded to neutralize the crew mber with minimal force - just enough to clear their path without causing serious injury.]

[Command Center]

[Agent Hill approached Director Fury from behind: "Sir."]

[Nick Fury was examining Coulson's vintage trading cards, lost in thought: "Agent Hill."]

[Hill hesitated for a mont before revealing what she had discovered: "Those cards... they were in Coulson's locker, not in his jacket."]

[Nick Fury sighed deeply, showing no surprise at being caught in his emotional manipulation: "They needed the push."]

[Hill frowned with obvious disapproval but said nothing further. Outside the command center windows, the Mark VI armor streaked past, followed closely by an unauthorized Quinjet.]

[At that mont, a security alert echoed through the ship: "Unauthorized departure from Bay Six! Repeat, unauthorized departure from Bay Six!"]

[Both Fury and Hill looked out the windows simultaneously as the stolen aircraft disappeared toward the horizon.]

["Sir! We've located Loki! Whatever it takes, get our communications back online! I want real-ti intelligence on this situation!"]

["Yes, sir!" Hill understood that this was not the ti to debate the ethics of Fury's psychological tactics.]

"That guy really knows how to manipulate people! He's definitely earned his reputation as the ultimate spymaster. He'll use any thod necessary to motivate Tony Stark and the others." 2nd Generation Peter frowned, clearly not impressed with Nick Fury's approach.

"Yeah, but you have to admit his tactics are incredibly effective! He united them almost instantly!" Gwen shrugged, taking a more pragmatic view of Fury's thods.

"And to so extent, bringing the team together was exactly what Coulson wanted. Nick Fury is just helping him achieve that final wish."

"Okay, that makes sense!" 2nd Generation Spider-Man tilted his head and decided not to worry about the moral complexities.

"Hmph! That manipulative bastard Fury!" Tony snorted with obvious irritation that the Director had used such thods to provoke his anger in the tiline.

But unfortunately, he had to admit the manipulation had worked perfectly. Tony could imagine that his tiline self was absolutely determined to make Loki pay for Coulson's death.

Scott gave Captain Arica an appreciative look: "Cap, I love that move! Very direct approach!"

"In ergency situations, you sotis have to take ergency actions! Sotis people have to do extraordinary things!" Captain Arica didn't seem bothered by the minor assault charge. It wasn't the first ti he'd had to commandeer military equipnt.

[Tony flew back toward New York at maximum speed, but his severely damaged armor was experiencing intermittent thruster failures during flight. Despite the chanical problems, he persisted in pushing toward Stark Tower.]

[anwhile, Dr. Erik Selvig had positioned the Tesseract at the center of his portal device and begun channeling its energy to open a gateway to another realm.]

["Sir! I've shut down the arc reactor, but the Cube's still feeding power to the machine!"]

[Tony flew directly over Selvig's position: "Shut it down, Dr. Selvig!"]

[Selvig imdiately turned around and spotted Tony hovering above: "It's too late! She can't stop now! She wants to show us sothing! A new universe!"]

[Looking at the doctor who had beco completely obsessed with the Tesseract's power under Loki's control, Tony had no choice but to take direct action: "Okay then."]

[He fired both repulsors directly at the portal device, but the energy beams were absorbed and reflected back by the machine's protective energy shield.]

[Dr. Selvig, who was standing nearby, was caught in the reflected shockwave and thrown against the wall, where he hit hard and lost consciousness.]

[Tony was also knocked backward by his own reflected repulsor blasts. After he regained his stability in the air, his expression beca much more serious.]

[FRIDAY's voice ca through his helt systems: "The barrier is pure energy. It's unbreachable."]

["Yeah, I figured," Tony responded grimly, turning his attention to Loki, who was observing him from the tower's observation deck. "Ti for Plan B."]
