Chapter 761: Immortal Caretaker

A whirlwind appeared around Kiernan, and it took him away, traveling through the space like a shooting star.

In that mont, he flew out of a door, crashed into a table, and knocked over everything that was on it.

He silently lay on his back inside his office and just saw the lone lantern dangling from the ceiling.

The moonlight’s eternal glow filtered through the window and landed on his face.

He had returned to the beautiful world of the Martial Arts, and his entire being was trembling with strength.

The test had concluded and he had officially beco High Stage Martial King, and was just one step away from Martial Legend realm.

That one step didn’t seem that big of a deal, but it was enormous, as this was usually the point where the Bottleneck of the Weak truly deserved its na.

“…At least it was a short test this ti around.”

Kiernan said with a relieved look.

However, just to be sure, he checked the ti on his phone, and only hour had passed since he entered the test realm.

Nobody probably even noticed that he was gone.

In that mont, a four-legged creature ran inside the office and started excitedly licking his face.

“What’s going on, boy?”

Kiernan picked Fen up and put him on his chest, where he was quickly soothed by the warmth of his owner’s body.

Fen lay there contentedly, his tail wagging back and forth.

His wolf’s instincts were telling him that Kiernan was now part of his pack—the Demon Wolf inside him was very close to relative blood.

Thus, Fen truly treated Kiernan as his father now, more than ever before.

“…”

Kiernan silently patted Fen and, for a mont, thought about standing up but didn’t feel like it anymore.

“I had been looking for you.”

In that mont, a voice ca from nowhere, and Kiernan flinched before stopping moving and turned his gaze to the window.

He was being careful not to move because the person might notice that there was sothing invisible lying on top of his chest.

He hoped that person didn’t already notice him patting sothing invisible.

Sitting at the window, Renette enjoyed the cool breeze and smiled at Kiernan.

‘I am not wearing my disguise. It must an that she must’ve realized that I was wearing a disguise back in the Downed Prison.’

Kiernan quickly thought, then sat up carefully while Fen slid down his body, and with mind communication, he told Fen to leave.

With silent steps, Fen ran over to Aoi, who was sleeping peacefully in their room.

“…How did you find ?”

Kiernan stood up and moved the desk back to its place and put the things back on it, which he happened to knock over monts prior.

“It wasn’t all that hard. Every living creature has their very own sll. I call it a soul scent. I believe that scent is coming from one’s martial soul.

“And your sll… is very sweet.

“I haven’t ever slled anything so good, and that made finding you very easy.”

Renette said.

“…Do other Immortals have this soul scent ability?”

Kiernan asked.

“No. I have never t anyone with this ability. I am the only one with this gift. I was just born with this ability, and I haven’t found anyone that can explain how or why I have it.”

Renette said.

“…And then why are you here? You are free now, so why co to ? I am sure you have other matters to attend to.

“I am sure you have thousands of things you want to experience after being stuck in that place for eight hundred years.”

Kiernan said.

“I was lost. The world had changed so much that I felt overwheld, and I can’t really go anywhere without people running away in fear.

“I thought you could help adjust and adapt to this new world.”

Renette said.

“…I don’t know how I can do that.”

Kiernan said and looked at the frad photograph on the desk, which showed him and Karma standing in front of Karuza High.

It was taken after his graduation.

“I want to stay with you for a while.”

Renette said.

“I can’t possibly explain your presence here to others, and if word goes out that soone with your description is here, I will be in a mountain load of trouble.”

Kiernan said.

In other words, he was basically telling Renette to piss off, as he really didn’t want this kind of heat in his dojo.

Things were finally getting normal, and Renette was a very big disturbance in that.

“You have that appearance-altering item with you, don’t you? I can use that while I stay here, and I am sure you can find a way to explain why I am here.

“This is a dojo, is it not? I can be soone you hired to help you with the things over here.”

Renette said.

“…And I assu that you won’t take no for an answer?”

Kiernan said.

“See, you are starting to understand well!”

Renette said with a big smile.

“…Fine.”

Kiernan said.

With a smile, Renette approached him, pursed her lips, and attempted to kiss him, but he imdiately stopped her by putting his hand in the way.

“What are you doing?”

Kiernan asked.

“Kiss you?”

Renette tilted her head in confusion.

“…Why?”

Kiernan asked with a raised eyebrow.

“…I wanted to try it? I have lived for thousands of years without ever doing that. I want to try everything now that I am free.”

Renette said.

“…Find soone else to do that with.”

Kiernan said with a wry smile.

“…I want to do it with you, though.”

Renette said with a pout.

“…I am taken.”

Kiernan said, and then he pulled out a flesh mask from his inventory and put it on Renette’s face.

She changed from a stitched-up-mouth woman into a decently attractive woman with lengthy, long eyelashes and a flawless complexion.

“You will be caretaker of the dojo from now on. You will do the job that is required of you, which consists of maintaining the grounds, cleaning, help with whatever is asked of you, and other matters.

“You need to play your part, or you will have to leave.”

Kiernan said.

“…Ok!”

Renette nodded.

“Do you have a place to sleep in?”

Kiernan asked.

“No, I don’t, but I can sleep anywhere.”

“I own an apartnt not too far from here, and I’ll tell them to make space for you in one of the apartnts.”

Kiernan said.

And just like that, he sohow acquired an Immortal-ranked caretaker. It sounded like a joke, but it was actually truth!
