SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!
Kiernan punched the wall with fury, but then Sabbath grabbed him from the back of the collar and dragged him away.
"Huh? Where the hell are you dragging ?!"
"A job ca!"
Sabbath said with a grin and dragged him out of the gymnasium and headed to the dormitory.
He was staying in Karuza High's dormitory, but while students stayed on the second floor, he stayed on the third floor.
"A job? What do you an, a job?"
"My friend needs help. You said you were bored, and I can guarantee that this job will be far from boring!"
"I don't get it. Are we leaving then or what? I can't leave and abandon my studies! Oh… never thought I would ever say that."
Kiernan never really cared about his studies, but he knew that his father would be pissed if he left, and he didn't really want to leave.
"It's alright. No one will notice that you've left. It will be quick and swift!"
After arriving at Sabbath's room, he removed the carpet from the middle of the room and started drawing an eight-pointed star.
'A star? This one is an eight-pointed star, not a six-pointed. What is he doing?'
"I've learned this from Martial Order. A way to travel through the world in seconds. Where you are heading is deep in the World Seas, and by ordinary ans, it would take months to reach that place.
"However, with this, you can be there in a second.
"This is called the Teleportation Ceremony!"
'So, basically Trade Ceremony, but this one is with humans. It is clear that this ceremony is done differently.'
Sabbath placed eight candles around the circle and then lit them. He then wrote eight strange words at the tip of the stars, and the words suddenly glowed bright blue.
"I'll use this to send you there, and you'll co back the sa way. Thus, you can co back at any ti!"
'It is a two-way street, so Sabbath's friend is doing the sa ceremony on the other side, who also knows the ceremony then. Is that person part of the Martial Order?'
Kiernan then stood in the middle of the magic circle. It was much bigger than the circle used in the trade ceremony.
Sabbath called a phone number and placed the phone against his ear.
"Are you ready?"
He asked, received an answer, and nodded.
"Three…"
"Two…" Your journey continues at My Virtual Library Empire
"One…"
"Transvectio Per Spatium!"
SWOOSH!
…
"O-oh…"
Kiernan fell down on his knees and felt like vomiting his breakfast but managed to swallow it all back.
When he was teleporting through space, it felt like he entered a washing machine and was being tossed around in a storm of bubbles and water.
"Welco to Rotaker Island, young sir."
Makariah said with a gentle smile, standing alone in the attic with his hands clasped together.
"Ah?"
Kiernan looked over, slowly stood back up, and looked around the old-looking attic. He saw the stormy outside air through the triangle window and felt sothing odd.
It felt like the air in this place was very evil and sinister. It felt very strange, like sothing was watching him from the shadows.
"Rotaker Island? Where is this place exactly?"
"Your master didn't tell you?"
Makariah said with a laugh. He thought it was sothing Sabbath would do, and by the sounds of it, he hadn't changed one bit in ten years.
"My na is Makariah, the friend of your master. This place here is Rotaker Island. It is the island in the World Seas that is closest to the Dead World, and its wall of mist!"
"?!"
Kiernan's eyes widened in shock.
'Why the hell did my master send here? Isn't this place, like, super dangerous?!'
"What did your master tell you?"
"Hah, nothing."
Kiernan said with a laugh. He just sent him randomly to one of the most dangerous places in the world with no knowledge or warning.
"Your master sure is sothing…"
Makariah scratched the back of his head and then offered a handshake.
"Well, my na is Makariah, like I said before. What is yours?"
"Kiernan."
He shook the hand.
'This is the long-awaited special person that Sabbath looked for years…'
Makariah looked into Kiernan's eyes with great interest. He could imdiately tell that there was sothing special about him.
"So, why am I here? My master said sothing about a job?"
"My grandson has gone missing. We've been looking for him, but no luck. He was on the night shift at the local convenience store, which is the only convenience store on this island.
"He spent the first four hours as supposed to, but then, in the fifth hour, one of the custors called the boss, angrily asking why no one was working.
"Pissed off, the boss ca to the convenience store and didn't find my grandson anywhere. Then he tried calling him, he didn't answer. He called his parents. They didn't know where he was.
"Lastly, he called , and I didn't know where he was.
"Next day we looked across the island and couldn't find a single hair of him."
Makariah explained patiently.
Kiernan nodded but then said.
"Did he like living here per chance?"
"Uh… no. He actually hated being here. He was a fearful kid, and it was a hard childhood for him. It took him a long ti to get used to the monsters in the mist."
"So, there is a chance that he might've just run off this island? Taken a ship, and never looked back?"
"We thought about it… but no, we don't think that is the case. This isn't the first disappearance. In just the last month, four people have gone missing.
"They are all the sa age—as old as my grandson."
'A serial kidnapper, again…'
Kiernan scratched the back of his head.
"I understand. So, any idea where I should start?"
"I am actually glad that your master sent you. You are the sa age as my grandson, so…"
"You want to be bait."
Kiernan chuckled, thinking that it just beca even better.
"The convenience store's owner is my good friend. I can get you to work there the night shift, and you might be able to find the person who kidnapped my grandson.
"To not get caught, you'll be left alone there. I won't be there to help you or anyone else. Sabbath gave a high evaluation of your skills, so I trust you."
"I understand."
