Chapter 177: Chapter 131: Wolf Attack (2)

’That’s convenient.’

Points were added to his account.

Points: 3,486

After telling Ma San and the others to get back to work, Cheng Zongyang looked at his item bar.

The items that had spawned this ti weren’t anything special.

Three types of vegetable seeds and twenty pairs of Bai Yu chicks.

It only cost eight Points, but Cheng Zongyang felt a sense of resignation. He had waited three days, only for these four types of items to spawn.

’With over three thousand Points, I can try to focus on my Cultivation now.’

He had previously wanted to purchase Dragon and Tiger Pills, but a system notification inford him that they were items from ruins with restricted sales, making them impossible to request.

This was quite a pity.

As for Soul Crystal Stones, he didn’t have enough manpower at the mont. But overall, the demands of tilling the fields and exploring their territory were still low, so he put that idea on hold for now.

It wouldn’t be too late to add more people once they started cultivating vegetables, fruits, livestock, and grains on a massive scale.

For now, he wanted to focus on raising his own Cultivation and improving his Cultivation Technique Level.

He suppressed the urge to go to the Cultivation Room on the second floor imdiately. He decided to return to the Inner Mountain Pass first and properly test the room’s effects tonight.

Just then, Luo Zheng called to him from outside the door.

"Sir, I have sothing to report."

Cheng Zongyang walked out. "What is it?"

Luo Zheng imdiately took a small bamboo tube from his waist. "The Ghost-faced Spider Eggs you gave

last ti just hatched," he said.

As he spoke, he opened the tube, placed a small ball of fish at on the ground, and three thumb-sized, gray spiders crawled out. Each seed to have a ghost-like face on its back. They imdiately began to nibble on the fish at.

Cheng Zongyang was rather surprised. "Already?"

Luo Zheng said, "Based on what you said last ti, they must have been close to hatching already. I just provided them with a normal environnt, so it happened pretty quickly."

"Can you control them?" Cheng Zongyang asked.

Luo Zheng shook his head. "I can’t control them, but they can be trained with specific sounds. Once they’re grown, they might be able to understand simple commands, but I can’t guarantee it. After all, these creatures aren’t like cats or dogs."

Cheng Zongyang smiled. "Don’t worry about it. Just do what you think is best. It’ll be great if you succeed, but it doesn’t matter if you fail."

"Yes, Sir! I will do my utmost," Luo Zheng replied, cupping his hands in a salute.

Seeing that there was nothing else, Cheng Zongyang left the Wilderness World and hurried back to the Inner Mountain Pass.

Not much had changed at the Inner Mountain Pass, other than the completion of two new wooden cabins.

Cheng Zongyang had been at the Salt Workshop for three days, and a few of the elders had been worried about him. They all asked how things went, and he gave them a brief summary.

They smiled upon hearing that the workshop had begun producing salt. This ant they would have a continuous supply from now on.

Just as he was about to get to work, he suddenly saw several people running back from the direction of the Inner Mountain, shouting, "Wolves! There are wolves!"

Hearing this, the expressions of Cheng Zongyang, Cheng Guanghai, and the others changed instantly.

Cheng Zongyang was the first to charge forward, while Cheng Guanghai and the others imdiately began to organize the n.

He reached the Henei Region and stopped the n, urgently asking, "How many are there? Where?"

The three n were gasping for breath, their faces pale as they spoke:

"J-Just... just up on the mountain, by the water source... There are... there are seven or eight of them!"

"Th-Three people are... are surrounded by the wolves!"

Hearing this, Cheng Zongyang instantly dashed toward the mountain. He executed the Wind-Stepping Step, moving several tis faster than a normal walk.

In just a few breaths, he was already over a hundred ters away.

Near the water source, Zhang Guangwen clutched a Firewood Knife in his right hand and held sothing small tightly in his left. He and two other n stood back-to-back, staring in terror at the seven wolves that surrounded them.

At that mont, the three n felt utter despair.

Their team of six had set out to find so minerals for a mission. They had only discovered the wolves when they were preparing to head back.

They fled for their lives but couldn’t outrun the pack. In the end, the three of them stayed behind to draw the wolves’ attention while the other three ran back to call for a Martial Artist to rescue them.

"Guangwen! Wh-What do we do now!?" The young man behind him and to his left, nad Zhang Changjiang, stamred, his face pale and his body trembling.

He and Zhang Guangwen were from the sa village, having co all the way from Linchuan and supporting each other on the journey. Zhang Guangwen’s family of seven was now down to four. But as for Zhang Changjiang, the only family he had left after the journey was his nine-year-old daughter.

"Wait! Wait for the Clan Leader and the others to get here!" Zhang Guangwen said through gritted teeth, his expression composed as he stared down the alpha wolf, which had a long scratch across its face.

But the middle-aged man behind him and to his right, Chen Huanren, cried out, "There’s no ti to wait! These wolves won’t give us the chan— AHHH!"

Before the man could finish his sentence, he let out a terrified howl, dropping to the ground and rolling away to narrowly dodge a sudden attack from the pack.

His evasion was futile, however, as another wolf sank its teeth into his calf.

Chen Huanren let out a pained scream and swung the Firewood Knife in his hand at the wolf latched onto his leg.

The wolf reacted instantly, releasing its bite and pulling back.

"AARGH..."

Zhang Guangwen slashed one wolf across its foreleg, causing it to yelp and hastily retreat. This made the other attacking gray wolves fall back a few steps, but they continued to snarl, low growls rumbling in their throats.

The pressure on Zhang Guangwen and Zhang Changjiang was no less than what Chen Huanren had faced. But they had fought their way here for the sake of their families; when it ca to a life-or-death mont, their ferocity was second to none.

Though terrified, they managed to regroup after an attack nearly split them apart, resisting with the Firewood Knives in their hands.

"R-Run! Let’s run!" Zhang Changjiang said, his voice trembling as he clutched an arm that had been clawed by one of the wolves.

Zhang Guangwen gritted his teeth. "No! If we run, we’ll die even faster!"
