Chapter 145: Chapter 118: Exotic Beast Tiger King
Defeating this Exotic Beast Spider King was entirely due to external forces.
But the difference between humans and animals lies in the ability to use external aids. With the right tools for the job, it doesn’t matter how powerful an opponent is.
Cheng Zongyang raised his torch and began to inspect the cave.
On his way in, he had noticed that although the cave walls were covered in moss, so markings suggested the entrance wasn’t natural, but man-made.
Of course, he wasn’t going to dwell on whether it was truly man-made or not.
As he looked around, he saw quite a few animal skeletons scattered inside the cave. Although not as many as outside, it was still a terrifying sight.
Finally, his gaze fell upon the cave wall!
Stuck to it were three large bundles wrapped in spider silk.
Seeing this, certain images ca to mind, and he imdiately touched the torch to the silk.
As the flas burned, the silk rapidly shrank and snapped. A mont later, the corpses of three beasts fell down one after another.
A large tiger, a large wild boar, and a large gray wolf.
The bodies of these three Fierce Beasts were twice the size of any tiger, wild boar, or gray wolf he had ever seen!
The wolf, in particular, was almost the sa size as the Wolf King he had killed before!
’Damn, could these three big guys be Exotic Beasts, too? If so, then I really didn’t misjudge the strength of that Spider King!’
The next mont, Cheng Zongyang’s eyes lit up, and he stored the three suspected Exotic Beast corpses in his Wilderness World as well.
If they were truly Exotic Beasts, he could probably sell them for money.
He continued to check around for a bit more, but finding nothing else, he left the cave and prepared to head back.
The purpose of this trip was to investigate the water’s source and prevent any future problems with their water supply.
But upon seeing the small waterfall, he knew there must be a secret in the mountains and no longer worried about the water source drying up.
After exiting the cave, he went to where the ginseng plant was.
But the leaves had been destroyed, so he had to rely on his mory to find its location. To do so, he even had to clear away the surrounding skeletons.
Fifteen minutes later, he finally found the ginseng plant, dug it up soil and all, and stored everything in the Wilderness World to be cleaned up later.
It was getting late, and he didn’t have ti to be ticulous.
Following the markers he’d left, he unexpectedly ran into a family of wild boars out foraging.
Naturally, he wouldn’t pass up such an opportunity. He easily killed the two large ones, captured the small ones, and stored them all in his Wilderness World to be taken out later.
By the ti he reached his family’s water source, it was already 7 p.m.
He continued on his way in the darkness. When he was almost there, he took out ten chicks.
He had left another ten pairs in his Wilderness World.
When his family saw Cheng Zongyang return dragging a wild boar and carrying a small bamboo basket, they hurried over to help.
They were especially delighted when they saw that he had brought back ten little chicks.
This ant that they would have eggs to eat in the future.
"We really have more at than we can eat at ho now. This is great. Now we have ten chickens, too. Once they’re grown, we’ll have even more chickens, and we won’t have to worry about eggs."
Mrs. Zhou of the Cheng Family, who was nding clothes, looked at the wild boar and said with a smile, "It’s a good thing we still have a lot of salt, otherwise we’d have no way to preserve it."
The aunts were also happy. The eldest aunt laughed and said, "It’s fine. Several of the adults have beco Martial Artists, so our appetites are bigger and we’ll eat it quickly."
The youngest aunt nodded in agreent. "Yes, Zongyang is so capable. He brings back a huge haul every ti he goes into the mountains. Once this place is fully built, I can’t even imagine how wonderful a life of abundance will be."
Cheng Zongyang tossed the wild boar onto the empty ground by the water pool, leaving it for the adults to handle later. His Second Aunt had already taken the chicks.
"Did you figure things out with the water source?" Cheng Guanghai asked his son.
The others also walked over.
Cheng Zongyang nodded. "I did. I found a waterfall. Judging by the flow, we don’t have to worry about a future water shortage."
"What? A waterfall?!"
Everyone was stunned.
"How is that possible? You know how bad it’s been outside these past two years. It’s one thing for the Inner Mountain to have water, but how could it possibly have a waterfall?"
"How have the Inner Mountain and Outer Mountain beco like two different worlds?"
"This is too bizarre."
They all chid in, their faces filled with disbelief.
Just then, Cheng Zongyang said:
"There must be so secret in the mountains that’s causing the Inner Mountain and Outer Mountain to change differently. I suspect even the riverbed at our doorstep lost its water because it was affected by this."
"Do you think this drought and the situation in the mountains could be related to that thing that fell from the sky three or four years ago?" Zhou Hanchang suddenly ntioned.
At this, everyone froze.
"That’s impossible, right?" Zhou Hansong frowned. "How could sothing that fell from the sky affect a drought? The scope of that influence would be huge."
Cheng Guanghai also shook his head. "That thing fell more than a year before the drought started. It’s impossible."
But Cheng Zongyang began to ponder it. He couldn’t make sense of it, though, so he didn’t dwell on it.
"We don’t need to worry about that for now; it doesn’t affect us at the mont. Second Uncle, could you help
prepare my dicinal bath?"
Cheng Guangshan nodded. "It’s already prepared. I started heating it up as soon as you got back."
"Thanks, Second Uncle," Cheng Zongyang said with a smile.
With that, he went to practice his Wind-Stepping Step, leaving the others to handle matters here.
"Big Brother! Big Brother!" Seeing that her big brother was done talking, the little girl not far away saw her chance and ran toward him on her short little legs.
Seeing the little girl, Cheng Zongyang smiled and crouched down, letting her leap into his arms and wrap her own around his neck.
But the sweaty sll on him made the little girl imdiately let go. "Big Brother, you’re so stinky," she said, a little displeased. "I don’t want to hug you anymore."
