"Let go of !" Alia hissed, trying to pry herself out of his grip. However, Caleb had evidently learned from earlier, and his fingers were practically an iron manacle around her wrist. She glared at him.

"Why should I? You’re mine!" Caleb declared, an ugly glint crossing his eyes. "Matteo Montgory should be honored to eat my sloppy seconds!"

Cherry’s face reddened with anger at his words and his blatant disrespect for Alia as a person. Caleb Walton was an utter brute― no wonder her cousin never wanted to spend any ti with him! She marched forward and stomped on his foot, causing him to wince.

"Let Alia go, or I’ll have you arrested," Cherry threatened, but Caleb rely gave a cold laugh.

"Arrest ? Do you know who I am?" His voice echoed so loudly throughout the store that people outside might have heard it.

"Yes, and so does everyone else," Alia said, trying to sound braver than she felt. "What would they think when they see Caleb Walton harassing Matteo’s fiancée? Wouldn’t your highly prestigious family rake you over the coals for causing trouble?"

"Alia, you’ve gotten smarter, but you’re not smart enough," Caleb said. "Once the truth is revealed, the only one that’ll be raked over the coals is you."

"Why are you doing this?" Alia was this close to tearing her own hair out, but Caleb was still refusing to let her go. She could only despair― he had never behaved like this — with dented possessiveness radiating off every fiber of his being — not when they were married and supposedly in love.

Yet, this madness was rearing its ugly head now? Out of all tis? Alia gnashed her teeth; Caleb was behaving like a brat who got his favorite toy stolen!

"Caleb, might I remind you that you dumped for Kelsie Friesent? I don’t think she’ll take kindly to you grabbing another woman’s hand like this!" Alia pointed out.

If her scummy ex-husband could forget that he was married to her when he went around gallivanting with Kelsie, he might have also forgotten that he was now dating her when he decided to harass Alia.

A quick shutter sound stunned Caleb. It was Cherry who took the photo.

"Wait till I send this to Kelsie Friesent," Cherry said evilly. "You can kiss your relationship goodbye."

Before Caleb could grab her phone and crush it under his heel, the soft tinkling of the bell broke through the tense atmosphere. Soone had entered the store!

And when Alia caught sight of who it was, her face paled further.

It was none other than Kelsie Friesent, and her eyes darted to Caleb, then Alia, and then to Caleb’s wrist. At once, Caleb let go of her as though he had touched fire with his bare hands, but not before shoving Alia to the side.

Alia stumbled, and Cherry caught her quickly before she fell.

"What’s the aning of this?" Kelsie asked, her voice an icy whisper.

"Stay away from !" Caleb yelled, straightening his jacket. "There’s no point in begging to take you back! I’m with Kelsie now."

"I don’t want you back!" Alia exclaid indignantly. She turned to Kelsie. "Keep an eye on your dog!"

"Damn right!" Cherry cheered. "Co on, Alia, let’s go!"

Kelsie snorted, a smirk on her face. "Cherry Montgory? The rumors don’t do you justice. How was prison life?"

Cherry’s face paled in anger. "Shut it!"

anwhile, Alia’s eyes widened. Cherry was an ex-convict? How on earth did such a thing happen?

"A criminal and a gold-digger, truly a match made in heaven!" Caleb added, his eyes glinting wickedly. He had to get Kelsie to focus on sothing other than her catching him with Alia.

"Keep talking and I’ll show you what skills I learned inside there," Cherry said threateningly, rolling up her sleeves to reveal her developed arm muscles. She cracked her knuckles, and the sharp pops rang through the store like gunshots.

Kelsie and Caleb grew more wary, and Alia took this chance to grab Cherry’s hand and slip through the door.

"Hey, co back! I’m not done with you!" Kelsie called out, but they ran straight for the car.

"I’m sorry you had to hear that," Cherry said, her voice low and ashad. She wasn’t looking at Alia’s face, instead, she kept her eyes on the dashboard of the car. "I didn’t want you to find out this way. But I swear― I’m a changed person now! I would never hurt soone!"

"It’s okay, we all have secrets," Alia said. Frankly, even if Cherry murdered soone, it would still not be as bad as what she was going to say. She took a deep breath. "I also have a confession to make. Rember how Caleb said I was his significant other?"

"Yes?" Cherry asked with a frown. "He was bullshitting, wasn’t he?"

"Not entirely," Alia said. "Matteo knows it too― I used to be married to him."

Cherry blinked uncomprehendingly, and Alia rushed to explain.

"But back then, I didn’t know he was rich! He introduced himself to as an orphan, and we t in community college. I fell in love with him then... and we dated and eventually married at a courthouse."

"What the fuck?" Cherry’s mouth fell open. "You’re serious?"

"Yes. Apparently, that man lied to for years, and I only found out because I was working at the sa bar he was hosting his rich friends at."

"Was this the club where Matteo arranged for to work?" Cherry asked, slowly connecting the dots.

Alia nodded sadly. "They made things difficult for , and my old manager sided with them. Anyway, long story short, he had enough of lying to and decided to serve the divorce papers so he could chase after Kelsie Friesent."

There was a stunned silence from Cherry before she let out a string of profanities so vulgar that it caused Alia’s ears to burn.

"What a scumbag!" Cherry finished with a shaky exhale. "Well. I can definitely assure you that Matteo isn’t anything like him, so you can rest easy. He’ll treat you a lot better than that fucker, that’s for sure."

"That’s a very low bar though," Alia said, and Cherry scoffed. She took out her phone and jabbed at it angrily.

"I’m telling Matteo about this. Just wait, he’ll help you settle this!"
