Chapter 258: Too much to fix

Following the adjournnt of the Vixen case, Mina started receiving nurous calls from different individuals inquiring about Mia’s involvent in Vixen’s criminal activities.

Naturally, she also faced an increasing number of inquiries from mbers of the IMF, questioning whether their decision to include Mia on the IMF board of directors was justified.

The constant barrage of calls was beginning to take a toll on her, causing stress and pressure to demonstrate Mia’s innocence, as people were starting to doubt her judgnt in including Mia in specific decisions.

Mina took on a role similar to that of a manager for Mia, especially after Mia’s popularity on the internet skyrocketed.

With this newfound fa ca nurous brand deals, and just as Mina thought the endless calls and lengthy explanations were finally coming to an end, a new wave of inquiries began as sponsors of Mia’s videos started reaching out to her as well.

It was utterly surprising how these sponsors decided to withdraw their contracts with Mia, acting as though she never existed—all because her na was associated with Vixen’s case.

For crying out loud, there hadn’t even been any formal declaration of her involvent in the cri—just a re accusation.

Mina was at her residence when she started addressing the barrage of phone calls.

She was taken aback by the news that shortly after departing from Mia’s office to return ho, Mia had unexpectedly found herself ensnared in such a predicant.

This left Mina pondering deeply over how she could possibly help Mia navigate through this troubleso situation.

Amidst all these calls, she received yet another one. She picked up the phone, placed it on the table, activated the speaker, and began engaging in a conversation with the caller on the other end.

"Mina, what have you done to my daughter?" inquired Mia’s mother, her voice brimming with disappointnt.

"What do you an? I’m the one dealing with the consequences and the outbursts that have arisen from your daughter’s mistake," Mina confronted.

"Well, I thought you claid you had everything it took to safeguard my daughter. I had warned you and requested that you keep her away from Vixen, but you didn’t listen to . Instead, you allowed her to do whatever she pleased, and now, can you see the ss she’s left us in?" Mia’s mother retorted.

A frown etched on Mina’s face, she picked up her phone, holding it near her lips, and began to speak, utterly taken aback by what she had just heard.

"Have you ever considered what the main issue has been in your relationship with your daughter? It appears that you have consistently treated her as if she were still a child. The truth is, she is fully capable of handling problems on her own. She knows exactly what she is doing, and for goodness’ sake, she is an adult now."

"Is that so? An adult, you say? Well, then, tell , what is currently the most talked-about topic on the internet? My daughter is being subjected to public humiliation. People everywhere are speaking negatively about her, and do you understand the reason for this? It’s because you failed to manage this so-called adult properly."

"I’m doing everything I can, and you know what? I’m not going to initiate this argunt with you. If you wish to have a conversation with , you’ll need to find a different ti to discuss it," Mina expressed with frustration.

Without giving Mia’s mother a chance to respond, she abruptly ended the call.

As soon as the call concluded, Mina’s attention was drawn to a soft knock at the door.

She turned her eyes towards the room’s entrance and saw Sebastian standing there in front of the now open door.

It appeared that she had absentmindedly left the door ajar when she entered.

"What is this I’m hearing about?" Sebastian inquired, his voice tinged with disappointnt, as he lifted his phone and looked at Mina with a serious expression.

It appeared as though while Mina was receiving a flurry of calls, Sebastian’s phone was also incessantly ringing with a seemingly endless stream of calls.

Mina, without hesitation, advised, "Just turn off your phone, Sebastian,’" aware that allowing him to continue speaking might lead to a heated argunt between them.

"Are you serious, Mum? You want

to turn off my phone?" Sebastian asked, his voice tinged with disbelief and shock.

"Mother, the entire internet is in an uproar. The woman you claim to be your niece has caused a commotion and has publicly embarrassed the IMF, and yet you expect

to simply turn off my phone?"

"Well then, what exactly do you expect

to convey to her? Should I suggest that you simply leave your phone on while you respond to the mbers of the IMF?"

"You know what, Mom? I have no idea what you and Mia are up to, but I really wish you both would just keep your issues away from

and not drag

into this situation."

"I’ve already ntioned to you both that whatever you’re doing doesn’t make sense, but neither of you would pay attention to my advice. It has always been about you two, acting like selfish individuals," Sebastian stated with disgrace, leaving his mother utterly stunned.

"What did you just say?" his mother inquired, her voice tinged with a mix of confusion and disbelief.

Sebastian, however, remained unfazed, clearly standing by every word that had erged from his mouth.

"What else do you expect

to do, Mum? Just sit idly like a fool?" he shot back defiantly.

"Yes, naturally, she is your cousin and I assud you would do nothing about this. Fortunately, as of now, you have a say in the IMF administration, so I need you to ensure that you persuade them or do sothing to make sure Mia can truly remain at the organization."

"Mom, mom," Sebastian exclaid as he reached out towards his mother, firmly grasping her hand so she could pay attention to him.

"Please listen to , Mom. There’s absolutely no way I’m going to do any of what you’ve asked. I’m staying calm because I want you to truly understand my perspective. I’m not going to help Mia with this situation. She needs to learn her lesson this ti," Sebastian declared, but then Mina suddenly pulled her arms away from his grip in disbelief.

"Seriously, Sebastian? You’re not going to assist her? That girl is your cousin," she shouted at him.

"That’s exactly what I’m trying to say, but your love for her is so blind that it prevents you from seeing the truth," Sebastian explained calmly.

"You know what, I refuse to just stand here and listen to whatever nonsense you’re saying. I’m leaving," Mina declared emphatically.

She began walking towards the door, her steps determined, but then she halted abruptly when Sebastian’s voice cut through the tension in the room.

"Are you aware of what she did to your husband?" Sebastian inquired calmly, observing her as she slowly turned around to face him, a mix of curiosity and concern etched on her features.

A deep frown ford on Mina’s face, her expression revealing her skepticism about his statent.

"What exactly are you talking about?" Mina asked, her voice tinged with a blend of curiosity and disbelief, as she tried to comprehend the implications behind his words.

Sebastian remained silent, yet without uttering a single word, he extended his hand towards his phone and began approaching her.

Once he stood directly in front of her, he handed over the phone, allowing her to view the images displayed on the screen.

"These photographs were taken today," Sebastian explained in a composed manner. "Upon hearing the news and receiving a barrage of calls, I instructed my team to examine Mia’s device at the IMF. They successfully accessed her account, and these are the images we discovered," he continued, his voice steady and calm.

He observed intently as his mother brought her hand to her mouth, her expression a mixture of shock and disbelief.

Her eyes were fixed on the photographs showing her husband lying motionless on a stretcher. In those haunting images, he was being injected, but this was no re sedative to make him unconscious; it was a lethal injection intended to ensure he would never wake again.

She then watched a video depicting a doctor administering the injection, her heart sinking as she noticed her husband’s skin gradually turning an eerie shade of pale.

They were executing him slowly, and once their grim task was complete, they placed him inside a freezer.

They did not stop until they were certain that his entire body was frozen solid, ensuring he was fully and irreversibly dead.

"The young woman inford

that she intended to keep your father in a state of unconsciousness until she managed to overco Abi." Mina continued to speak, her thoughts and words struggling to make sense of what she had witnessed.

"And you chose to trust her?"
