Gu Yubai’s mother sat down and looked at Qi Cheng. Since Qi Cheng’s car accident, this was the first ti she had co to see him. "Are you really okay?"
"Really, no problem." Although his wound still hurt a bit, he was used to pretending everything was fine in front of others.
Qi Cheng’s mother scrutinized him, uncertain.
But there was nothing more to say.
She simply said, "Your grandfather is still outside waiting. Take your wife out to see him."
Other guests could be ignored. But the hurdle of the grandfather must be crossed.
Qi Cheng replied, "Yes."
Qi Cheng’s mother stood up, gave Ji Yunhuan a cold glance, and left.
As soon as she was gone, Qi Cheng’s face showed signs of pain.
Ji Yunhuan didn’t bother with the slap she had just received. She felt she deserved it. Next ti she saw Gu Family mbers, she should have them thrown out imdiately.
She walked towards Qi Cheng. "Are you okay?"
"Do you want to make a scene? How are you going to handle it then?" Qi Cheng glanced at her, signaling her to keep quiet. "And today, even if you can’t forget about Gu Yubai, you shouldn’t act like this."
So, he still didn’t trust her.
Ji Yunhuan explained, "I just wanted to confirm sothing. Since he ca to the door, I said a few words. I didn’t expect Gu Xinran..."
That bitch, ti and ti again.
Qi Cheng said, "Do you know what kind of occasion today is? If it weren’t for Second Sister-in-law calling to inform , did you think Mom would let you off that easily? She’s angry because I hid the car accident from her. And you just had to stir up trouble."
Ji Yunhuan thought it was a coincidence that Qi Cheng went out. "Then I have to thank Second Sister-in-law."
Qi Cheng looked at the red mark on her face and gently touched it. "Does it still hurt?"
His concern startled Ji Yunhuan. She covered her face with her hand. "I’m fine. I’ll call the doctor to co in and check your wound. And touch up my makeup."
She couldn’t go out with a "five-finger mountain" on her face.
However, Qi Cheng reached out and pulled her to sit beside him. "No hurry. Stay with for a while."
Ji Yunhuan sat down and looked at his pained expression. "If you feel uncomfortable, we won’t go out. I’ll talk to Second Sister-in-law. After all, it’s your grandfather, and all family. We can see him later."
Ji Yunhuan said this easily because she didn’t know what kind of person Qi Cheng’s grandfather was.
Even for family, it was not easy to et him.
The Qi Family didn’t just include Qi Cheng’s father’s branch. There was also Qi Cheng’s father’s older brother, and his children. So they were a large family.
In this family, Qi Cheng was one of the more favored ones, which was why the grandfather attended his wedding.
When Second Brother got married, the grandfather didn’t show up.
Qi Cheng had never talked to Ji Yunhuan about his grandfather. He hadn’t thought much about it before, assuming that his grandfather wouldn’t care about Ji Yunhuan. And since he planned to divorce her in the future, he didn’t bother to ntion it.
But now he had changed his mind.
Apparently, the grandfather valued his wedding more than Qi Cheng had expected.
If the grandfather saw him injured, the responsible people would face severe consequences, especially Ji Yunhuan. She definitely wouldn’t be let off the hook.
He hugged Ji Yunhuan, inhaling her calming scent. "It’s just a toast. Nothing too serious. Don’t worry. When we go out, I’ll introduce you to my family. Just stay by my side."
Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng’s chiseled profile and curiously asked, "Qi Cheng, what does your grandfather do?"
"Didn’t you see him outside just now?" Qi Cheng asked.
"I did. That’s why I want to know." Seeing other people, Ji Yunhuan didn’t feel nervous.
"Do you know who Qi Guang is?" Qi Cheng directly ntioned his grandfather’s na.
Ji Yunhuan froze and looked at Qi Cheng. "Are you joking with ?"
"Do I look like I’m joking?" Qi Cheng sincerely looked at her with a slight smile. Though pale from illness, it didn’t affect his deanor. "So Miss Ji Yunhuan does get frightened."
"Qi Cheng, I knew your family was wealthy, but I didn’t realize it was this wealthy." No wonder, apart from Second Sister-in-law who was famous as a wedding dress designer, none of his family could be found on Baidu.
No wonder people only knew the na ’Mr. Qi’ and didn’t dare provoke him. Even clandestine plots were avoided.
"Just average," Qi Cheng said. "We have many brothers, and Dad’s generation has many brothers too. My dad is among the less esteed, so I had more freedom. My uncle and his sons were strictly grood from birth, living a totally different life. So don’t worry too much."
Ji Yunhuan slowly absorbed this information in his gentle tone.
When Second Sister-in-law knocked and entered, seeing the two chatting on the sofa, she urged, "Are you okay? Grandfather is still waiting. Hurry and go out!"
Then she noticed the handprint on Ji Yunhuan’s face.
No need to ask, she knew what happened. "Mom slapped you?"
Ji Yunhuan stood up. "It’s okay."
"Sit down. Let touch up your makeup." Second Sister-in-law said while helping her with makeup, "Mom is very angry because Qi Cheng was hurt. She scolded this morning when she found out. If she had co back a couple of days earlier, surely your wedding would have been postponed. She has always doted on Qi Cheng."
Ji Yunhuan had guessed it. "Today’s incident is my fault."
"You are indeed at fault," Second Sister-in-law said. "Of all tis, why today to talk with that Gu Yubai? We all know there’s nothing between you and him. But still, so people might cause trouble. Ji Yunhuan, marrying into the Qi Family isn’t like other places. You must speak and act carefully. Mom has always valued her face."
"Thank you, Second Sister-in-law." If not for her call, Qi Cheng wouldn’t have co out to rescue her.
Second Sister-in-law laughed. "I was busy outside; it was Leilei who called . That little girl helped you. Seems you two got along well these days."
This news surprised Ji Yunhuan. So it was Leilei, that little proud girl!
This proved that their ti together hadn’t been in vain.
Second Sister-in-law finished touching up Ji Yunhuan’s makeup, hiding the marks on her face.
Ji Yunhuan followed Qi Cheng to the hall. Leilei was sitting with Xia Duo and so other flower children.
Ji Yunhuan saw her and couldn’t help but smile. Leilei awkwardly turned her face away.
Qi Cheng held Ji Yunhuan’s hand and walked to the grandfather’s table.
"Grandpa."
Hearing the voice, the old man looked up, glanced at him, then at Ji Yunhuan beside him. Ji Yunhuan also greeted him. This was definitely the most distinguished person she had ever t.
