Ji Yunhuan had seen other couples, like her parents. Her father worked all year round, and her mother was always with the children. But no matter the situation, no matter how much they argued, her father would never make things hard for her mother because he was the only financial support of the family.

He would never use his power and abilities to make things difficult for her, like Qi Cheng did.

The distance between her and Qi Cheng was too great. She had never thought about it before, but now she clearly understood that if she stayed by his side, she would only beco his appendage. If he took away everything he gave, she would be left with nothing.

Thinking about this made Ji Yunhuan feel an unusual bitterness.

She looked at Qi Cheng curiously, not understanding why he had invited her here—what he had to say.

Qi Cheng looked at her. His chest was still filled with the anger from his conversation with Bai Liyan. He found it hard to imagine how she could still think about marrying Bai Liyan when their son wasn’t by her side.

If she hadn’t already agreed, Bai Liyan wouldn’t have co so confidently to talk to him about divorce.

He started, "I ca to talk to you about the divorce."

Ji Yunhuan rembered how she had once desperately wanted to divorce Qi Cheng, even though he had been unwilling. Since returning, all her thoughts were on the children. She hadn’t even considered bringing up the divorce, yet he had brought it up himself.

At that mont, she realized she still held a sliver of hope that they could reconcile—not for their past feelings but for their two children.

Qi Cheng’s initiative to divorce hurt her more than if he had said, "Get out; I don’t want you anymore."

Luckily, she reacted quickly, only pausing for two seconds before smiling, "Just as well, I wanted to discuss this with you. Since you brought it up, let’s get divorced."

They had decided to divorce right after Yangyang was born, yet kept dragging it out. Yangyang was turning four years old next month, and they finally needed closure.

Initially, she had left him, but through his efforts, she beca the one who was left behind.

But it was for the best; she would finally get the divorce certificate.

She looked at Qi Cheng, "When do you plan to get it done? I’m available every day."

They had gotten their marriage certificate from the Civil Affairs Bureau, so they would have to go there again to divorce.

Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan but said nothing.

Ji Yunhuan reflected that she might be rushing; there were still many things unarranged. She said, "You should check at ho and have the servants bring my ID and household registration book over. Since I’m leaving the Qi Family, I need to live, don’t I? Without those, I’ll be troubled."

Qi Cheng still didn’t speak.

Ji Yunhuan continued, "And... I know you might not agree, but I still want to ask. We have two children, Yangyang and Ruirui. Yangyang is older now, and I’m assured with him by your side. But Ruirui is still very young; can he stay with ?"

She used a negotiating tone.

Qi Cheng looked at her, surprised she had thought everything through. She was just waiting for him to co to her!

He almost regretted appearing here.

Seeing his cold face and silence, Ji Yunhuan felt helpless, "If you keep silent, I’ll take it as a yes."

"Wishful thinking!" he spat coldly.

Ji Yunhuan paused, knowing he wouldn’t be so easy to deal with.

Qi Cheng said, "Once we divorce, you get nothing. The children will have no relationship with you; don’t even think about it."

"Qi Cheng..." Ji Yunhuan had expected this answer but still found it hard to accept. "Can we really not discuss it? Yangyang couldn’t grow up with . Can’t I at least have Ruirui? With your power, you can see him any ti. But... if he stays with you, it’ll be hard for to see him. Can’t you soften just this once?"

"I’ve softened for you too many tis. If you cared, you wouldn’t have done what you did with Bai Liyan. You didn’t care then, so why pretend now?" His words were as cold as needles, piercing Ji Yunhuan’s heart.

She smiled sadly, sorrow rising from her heart, "You hate that much?"

"If you’re so eager to plan your route and future, why act pitiful here? Marrying into the Bai Family, you can be a legitimate lady. Not many won get a second marriage that good. You should cherish it. Dragging a kid along, how does that look? I’m considering this for your sake, seeing our past."

Though he knew children mattered most to her, he said these things deliberately.

"Thank you for your consideration," Ji Yunhuan said sorrowfully, turning her gaze outside. The sky was dark, and the car light illuminated her disheveled reflection on the window.

She had told herself many tis not to be sad for this man, but her heart still ached, making it hard to breathe.

As a mother, she should have fought for her child, but Qi Cheng’s attitude left her unable to keep up the fight.

She forced herself to say, "Then forget it. Have the servants pack my things and send them to . As for the divorce, call my place when you have ti." Her voice was filled with sadness. He didn’t understand her pretense. Isn’t divorce what she wanted? She knew he wouldn’t give her the children, yet she still brought it up, eager to marry Bai Liyan.

Now she appeared so sad, trying to show her innocence? Even so, Qi Cheng was almost softened by her sad voice.

At that mont, Ji Yunhuan said, "I should go. Bai Liyan is waiting at ho."

Her last words forced Qi Cheng to dismiss his ridiculous emotions. This woman didn’t deserve his sympathy; he didn’t need to do sothing foolish.

She was about to marry Bai Liyan. She was a woman he didn’t want. Why should he care who she married?

Ji Yunhuan almost fled from Qi Cheng’s car. Luckily, the Ji Family’s residence wasn’t far. She walked away from his car, tears she couldn’t hold back falling onto her shadow under the moonlight.

She walked quickly into the residential complex. At the corner, unable to suppress her sorrow, she squatted down, covering her face...
