Qi Cheng had the housekeeper call for a driver to send Xie Xingwei away.

As soon as the housekeeper and Ms. Xingwei left, he walked over and sat down next to Ji Yunhuan.

Ji Yunhuan focused seriously on her breakfast, not saying a word to him. It seed like she didn’t care at all that he had driven Ms. Xingwei away.

"I thought you would be grateful to for this," he said, curling his lips as he took the initiative to speak with her.

Ji Yunhuan glanced at him indifferently. "She’s your woman. How you treat her is your business."

In truth, she should have been glad that he didn’t treat her like Ms. Xingwei and make her his lover.

Actually, he could have done that. But why didn’t he?

This perplexity lingered in Ji Yunhuan’s mind. She had pondered for a long ti but couldn’t figure out why Qi Cheng would marry her.

Clearly, marrying her brought him no benefit at all.

Could he be an angel sent by God?

-

After finishing her al, Ji Yunhuan returned to her previous residence. Seeing how Qi Cheng had ordered soone to redecorate the place, she felt very uncomfortable. She gathered up her important belongings, preparing to take them back to the Qi Family Residence.

Lying on the bed and staring at the old ceiling, she found that she felt especially at ease lying there.

Before her family’s scandal broke out, she would never have gotten used to living in such a place. But now...

She had actually beco accustod to such destitution!

How ridiculous.

After resting on the bed for a while, she got up, grabbed her things, and walked out the door. As she descended the stairs and reached the stairwell, she discovered that people from the Gu Family Residence had blocked the entrance tightly. Butler Gu appeared at the door. "Ms. Ji, Madam asked to bring you over."

"I have nothing left to say to the Gu Family," Ji Yunhuan frowned.

"This is an order from Madam. I have no choice," Butler Gu said, not showing any courtesy, and directly had people co over and tie her up, placing her into the car.

Soon, she was taken to the hospital, brought before Mrs. Gu.

Mrs. Gu still wore that condescending expression. As soon as she saw Ji Yunhuan, she slapped her without saying a word.

Ji Yunhuan felt half of her face go numb.

The nerves in her brain pulsed.

Gu Yubai watched all this from his hospital bed, trying to stop his mother. "Mom."

Gu Xinran, standing next to him, said, "Brother, don’t feel sorry for her. Have you forgotten she’s the one who caused your condition?"

Ji Yunhuan looked at this unreasonable lot. "Isn’t this absurd? Gu Yubai’s car accident has nothing to do with ."

"If our Yubai hadn’t gone to see you and been infuriated by you, would he have had the accident on his way back?" Mrs. Gu said angrily, as if Ji Yunhuan had personally caused the accident.

"Exactly." Gu Xinran moved closer, spitting vitriol at Ji Yunhuan. "And you still have the gall to seduce Qi Cheng. You’re utterly shaless! Don’t think that just because Qi Cheng is protecting you, we can’t do anything to you. How many years have Qi Cheng and our family been friends? What do you think you are? Everyone knows he doesn’t take won seriously. Do you think he would turn on our family for you?"

All said and done, what angered them most was her entanglent with Qi Cheng.

Although she was just slapped, Ji Yunhuan had never felt as thrilled as she did now.

Because she knew she had hit the Gu Family’s sore spot.

She laughed, "I may be shaless, but how about you, Gu Xinran...are you any better? Even daring to covet your own uncle."

It was evident that Gu Xinran was infatuated with Qi Cheng. That’s why she always referred to him by na, never calling him ’Uncle.’

Gu Xinran was stunned but then mustered up the courage to say, "We aren’t related by blood. So what if I like him?"

"Well, since there’s no blood relation, why do you think Qi Cheng wouldn’t turn against your family?"

Mrs. Gu said confidently, "Even if he does, it won’t be because of soone like you. Don’t forget, you are our Yubai’s fiancée. He would never be interested in so second-hand goods already toyed with by my son."

"..." Who would have thought that Mrs. Gu could say sothing so vile.

Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help glancing at Gu Yubai. At this mont, he looked even more mortified than Ji Yunhuan.

And rightly so. Despite being together for years, Gu Yubai had never touched Ji Yunhuan.

Not that he didn’t want to, but every ti he saw Ji Yunhuan’s eyes, every ti she rejected him, he never dared to cross the line.

Precisely because of this, he fell for the gentle and loving Ouyang Fei.

Ji Yunhuan said rcilessly, "Even if I wanted to beco second-hand goods, your son would need to have the capability, right?"

"What...do you an?" Mrs. Gu’s face turned a liverish shade.

Ji Yunhuan and Gu Yubai had been so close for so long; it was unthinkable they had never been together.

"Just what you think. You didn’t know your son is useless in that regard?"

"Ji Yunhuan, you..." Gu Yubai, lying on the bed, couldn’t stand her insulting his male dignity and shouted through the pain.

"You are indeed useless. Are you afraid of saying so?" Ji Yunhuan said righteously.

Gu Yubai was so angry he almost spat blood. "You never even tried, how can you slander ?"

"So what if I slander you? Nowadays, words bear no consequences. I can say whatever I want. It’s my freedom!" She cast a aningful glance at Mrs. Gu and Gu Xinran.

Gu Yubai’s expression froze.

Indeed, his car accident, though indirectly related to her, had nothing to do with her.

Mrs. Gu could also tell Ji Yunhuan was mocking her.

She raised her hand to teach Ji Yunhuan a lesson, but Ji Yunhuan neither dodged nor resisted. "You slapped once already. Try slapping again? I still rember how obsequious you were when my father was around."

"Your father is gone now. What if I hit you again?"

"Then hit ! Lots of witnesses here. No need for to publicize it."

Due to the commotion, several passing dical staff were already watching.

With her son, Chencheng, staying in the hospital, many hospital personnel had seen Ji Yunhuan before.

Additionally, Gu Yubai’s fa quickly drew a crowd...

"Is that Ji Yunhuan?"

"I heard she’s Gu Yubai’s fiancée! What a fierce mother-in-law. She’ll never have a good life if she marries into the family."

Mrs. Gu’s face stiffened. Because of Gu Yubai’s status, she valued her reputation imnsely. However, with her hand still raised, she couldn’t bring herself to pull back. "So what if I hit you? You deserve it for having such a foul mouth."

"Then hit ! I’m not afraid of you, Aunt Gu, but I fear you won’t be able to kill !"

Mrs. Gu raised her hand, about to slap down.

Ji Yunhuan looked at her, sneering.

"What are you laughing at?" Mrs. Gu asked. Ji Yunhuan always had this ability to make people’s hearts turn cold.
