She had locked the door, but it was opened from the outside. Qi Cheng walked in.

Ji Yunhuan thought he would lie down and sleep as usual, but today he unexpectedly sat on the edge of the bed to her right, staring at her with deep, intense eyes.

She hadn’t been asleep and could sense his intense gaze.

She turned over and buried her face in the blanket to stop him from looking at her.

Qi Cheng asked, "You’re not asleep yet?"

His voice was softer than she had imagined.

Ji Yunhuan coldly turned her body back and looked at him. This man, who typically wouldn’t even speak a word to her, now ca looking to chat. It was really a bit ridiculous. "What, after tornting Gu Yubai, now you want to tornt ?"

"Are you hungry? I’ll have soone bring you sothing to eat." He knew she hadn’t eaten dinner.

Ji Yunhuan looked at his fake concern. "No need."

She was never one to act out of spite. But today, his anger had driven her to skip dinner.

Even now, she didn’t feel hungry at all.

Seeing him made her lose her appetite.

How could she have fallen in love with such a man?

Why was she torturing herself like this?

Despite everything, Qi Cheng still had soone bring the food.

It seed freshly made; the aroma of at wafted over, making her feel hungry. It reminded her of how hard the servants worked daily to cater to his whims.

The sll triggered Ji Yunhuan’s hunger.

But thinking of Qi Cheng, she didn’t even want to accept his kindness.

Bringing Gu Yubai here hadn’t caused her any losses, but upon further thought, it was a deep humiliation for her.

If soone asked why she argued with Qi Cheng,

the servants would think it was because of Gu Yubai, right?

But what had she done?

Even under coercion, she hadn’t ntioned the matter of Gu Yubai to him.

It was him who invited Gu Yubai over.

From Ye Suya’s issues to Gu Yubai, she felt utterly exhausted.

It seed like every matter, even if it was his fault initially, he could manage to shift the bla onto her.

"Get up and eat sothing." Qi Cheng said beside her.

"I said no. You don’t have to pretend to care about , Qi Cheng. You look ridiculous right now. What, do I have to remind you again that I’m still pining for Gu Yubai for you to get it straight?"

Knowing she was speaking out of anger, Qi Cheng said, "He’s a knot in my heart. The more I love you, the more I hate him. I called him here to make him understand that continuing to pester you won’t end well."

"What you do has nothing to do with ." She understood what he ant but didn’t deny the fact that his actions hurt her.

Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan. "Do you really care for him that much? Did you forget how he treated you in the past?"

"I don’t understand why you think I’m caring for him!" Ji Yunhuan turned her face away, not wanting to argue with him anymore.

"You’re angry right now."

"I am angry!" Ji Yunhuan opened her eyes and glared at him. He still didn’t understand why she was angry. She decided to clarify, "Can you say you invited him here without any intention of humiliating ?"

Qi Cheng said, "I didn’t."

"You don’t even have the courage to admit it?" Ji Yunhuan looked at him with contempt. "This side of you is really disappointing."

"Ji Yunhuan."

"Don’t call my na anymore. It sounds harsh. Just because I happened to run into him on the street, you had to bring him here to embarrass , right? Yes, I shouldn’t have seen him and promised you I wouldn’t, but this ti was an exception, and I believe you know that. It was a minor issue, but you had to blow it up and make lose face. Qi Cheng, you say you love , but I really can’t see it."

"..."

He glanced at her before turning around dejectedly.

Ji Yunhuan thought that after hearing her words, Qi Cheng would be angry, argue, or refute. But after he heard her, he rely turned away silently. He didn’t force her to eat and instead went to bed himself.

Ji Yunhuan woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and when she returned, she found Qi Cheng lying on the sofa. Since she had spoken to him, he had remained there.

She walked over, picked up the blanket that had fallen to the side, and covered him.

Looking at his sleeping face, a wave of pain surged in her heart.

She knew she liked him.

And she knew he liked her.

If he didn’t like her, he wouldn’t have co to talk to her first thing after finding out Gu Yubai had looked for her.

But...

Ever since Ye Suya moved into this house, neither of them wanted to compromise.

They would argue over every little thing.

She felt he didn’t love her.

She also felt the sa!

But deep down, she knew how he felt.

She squatted beside him, watching him sleep, and gently traced his cheek with her finger. Finally, she couldn’t help but lean down and kiss his eyes.

She admitted her temper was not good.

They were both the kind of people who were not accustod to compromising for others, so during argunts, neither cared about the other’s feelings.

But afterward, she still felt so regret.

After covering him with the blanket, Ji Yunhuan lay back on her bed.

Their relationship seed to revert to the previous cold war, where they ignored each other even when they t.

The staff had already repaired her old house, and she planned to stay there for a few days, giving them space to cool off.

As long as Ye Suya was here, she couldn’t stand seeing that woman.

She hadn’t said this directly to Qi Cheng, instead asking the female housekeeper to relay the ssage. Qi Cheng hadn’t opposed her suggestion.

Giving each other space was the best option when they argued.

In the morning, Ji Yunhuan went to a fashion show with her sister-in-law.

In the afternoon, she returned to the Qi Family and happened to see Ouyang Fei and Gu Yubai.

Since they were colleagues of her elder sister-in-law, who she had heard was sick, it wasn’t impossible they had co up with an excuse to visit her.

However, as soon as she saw them, Ji Yunhuan knew their real purpose—if the route through Qi Cheng failed, they would seek help from the sister-in-law.

This idea was most likely from Ouyang Fei. She’d heard that the Ouyang family had deep connections with the sister-in-law’s family. Otherwise, Ouyang Fei wouldn’t have attended Ji Yunhuan’s wedding with the sister-in-law.

Since they were guests of her sister-in-law, Ji Yunhuan didn’t embarrass them.

Seeing her, Gu Yubai softly asked, "Are you okay?"

Ji Yunhuan ignored him and didn’t respond.

Ouyang Fei, seeing Ji Yunhuan’s arrogant attitude, felt displeased.

Gu Yubai still missed Ji Yunhuan, but her attitude was too cold.
