Chapter 496: Chapter 496: Wu inan Returns to Her Parental Ho

The Xu Family courtyard was bustling with excitent, but Third Aunt Zhou quietly followed her daughter back to their own ho alone.

After getting ho, Third Aunt Zhou sat in the courtyard with a desolate expression, not knowing how things had co to this point.

The neighbor of Third Aunt Zhou saw the mother and daughter returning alone and was full of curiosity, “Sister-in-law Zhou, didn’t you go with Brother Zhou to your nephew’s wife’s parental ho?

Why have you and your daughter co back alone? Where are Brother Zhou and the others?”

Third Aunt Zhou glared at the woman speaking, “Mind your own business. I co back when I want to.”

The woman, rebuffed harshly, suddenly felt upset.

She turned and left angrily.

Zhou Ru sat in the courtyard resting her chin in her hand as she watched the lively atmosphere of other families, and couldn’t help but sigh, “Mom, why did you want to divorce Dad?

Look at how lively other people’s Chinese New Year’s are, while our ho is so quiet.”

Hearing her daughter’s complaints, Third Aunt Zhou felt a surge of anger, “Your father doesn’t want us anymore, what can I do?

If he doesn’t want us, we’ll just go back to your grandma’s house.”

She simply couldn’t believe it; she was still young, had a job, and thought that finding soone else for a second marriage couldn’t be easier.

“Let’s go, we’re heading to your grandma’s house.” Third Aunt Zhou said as she took her daughter and went straight to buy tickets to her own mother’s house.

They arrived at ho just before the Chinese New Year, and Wu inan arrived at ho to find Father Wu and Mrs. Wu quite astonished, “Why are you back? Where are your husband and your son?”

“I divorced,” said Wu inan curtly.

Father Wu was stunned, “What are you saying, you divorced your husband?”

Mrs. Wu also looked at her daughter in shock, “You’re not joking with and your father, are you? Why would you suddenly divorce in good tis?”

She spoke and grew angrily, “You better go back right now. Your child is already so grown up; why think about divorce?

Oh dear, you disgrace, divorcing now; isn’t Zhou Family’s property just going to benefit outsiders?

I heard that your newly acknowledged nephew and his wife are very wealthy.

Aren’t you thinking about how to support and your father, daring to get a divorce so recklessly? You better go back and make things clear with your husband; no divorce is allowed.”

Wu inan’s heart was reluctant, but the man was determined to divorce, and she couldn’t do anything about it.

“I’m not going back. Third Uncle Zhou doesn’t love anymore; he’s set on divorcing .

Besides, he gave the house he was living in to Zhou Ru and , and we have jobs; it’s not like we can’t live without him.”

“That house was given to you?” asked Mrs. Wu.

Wu inan nodded, and Mrs. Wu’s face broke into a smile, her expression changing as she looked at her daughter.

She knew about Third Uncle Zhou’s mansion; it was a large courtyard house.

“inan, such a big house isn’t safe for you and Zhou Ru to live in alone. It would be better to let , your brother, and your brothers co over, move in with you, and help you clean up the yard.

If there’s any danger, having a few n in the house is ultimately safer.”

Hearing this, Wu inan’s face lit up with joy, gratefully looking at her mother, “Thanks, mom.”

Zhou Ru’s expression, however, drastically changed, “Mom~”

“What’s wrong?” Mrs. Wu, hearing Zhou Ru’s elongated tone, imdiately frowned, “Are you unwilling for and your grandfather to co?

That’s your mother’s ho, and it’s not up to a little girl like you to decide.”

Hearing this, Wu inan’s expression darkened instantly. A little girl was not going to dictate to her, no way, “Mom, dad, co and live at my place.

It’s close by, and I can take good care of you.”

Father Wu and Mrs. Wu smiled with joy upon hearing this.

Her brothers looked at Wu inan with faces full of flattery. “Sister, you really are my own sister. It’s great to have a sister like you.

I never dread that one day I would be able to live in a big city.”

“Sister, you are really too kind. Rest assured, once I’m there, I will definitely take good care of you all,” Wu Xiaodi’s wife chid in pleasingly.

Wu inan had never been treated this way by her brothers and sisters-in-law before; her spirits soared, and she was overjoyed.

“Don’t ntion it, I’m your sister. If I don’t treat you well, who will?”

From a distance, Sister-in-law Wu’s expression darkened as she watched the scene. She looked at her husband, “Your sister is really a fool, neglecting her own children to be overly close to your younger brother’s kids.

I really don’t understand what’s going through your little sister’s mind.” Sister-in-law Wu’s family were doctors, and Brother Wu was also a doctor who had married into the Wu family. He only ca back to help out a few days before the New Year, spending the rest of his ti living in the county.

Brother Wu remained calm. “Why bother about her? It’s her choice.”

Sister-in-law Wu shook her head, feeling no sympathy for Wu inan, instead harboring a bit of annoyance.

No wonder Third Uncle Zhou wanted to divorce her. Anyone dealing with such a muddle-headed wife would have split up too.

Zhou Ru was upbraided by her mother and, feeling aggrieved, ran to a corner of the courtyard to squat down.

Thinking about the atmosphere at the Xu Family’s and the food and drink, and then looking at her grandma’s place, Zhou Ru felt even more wronged.

She knew her mother was still biased toward the children at grandma’s house; she shouldn’t have followed her here.

Mrs. Wu was unsparing toward her granddaughter, “What are you squatting there for? Co and help out.

Look at your sisters, they’re much more sensible than you.”

Zhou Ru, squatting there, took a kick directly, and with tear-streaked face, looked up and asked, “Why don’t my brothers have to work?”

Mrs. Wu exploded imdiately, “You said it yourself, they’re your brothers, and boys at that.

This is work for girls; boys shouldn’t be doing it.

Do you still want to eat? If you want to eat, you need to work. What? Do you expect to get sothing for nothing?”

Zhou Ru looked at her mother with aggrieved eyes, “Mom, are you really willing to let suffer with you?

If that’s really the case, I might as well go back to my dad.”

Wu inan felt a bit anxious upon hearing this. She couldn’t possibly give both children to their father.

Who would take care of her in her old age?

Mrs. Wu, seeing her daughter’s anxiousness, walked up smiling and began to sow discord, “inan, what’s the use of a daughter? Eventually, she’ll just get married and leave. She won’t be of any help then.

Your nephews are better, when that ti cos, we’ll all live together, and let your nephews take care of you.”

Wu inan hesitated, but Little Sister-in-law Wu looked at her appealingly, “Sister, what mom said is right.

The kids understand all the good you do for them and will surely take care of you when they grow up.

After all, a girl leaves her family, but a son stays to watch over you.”

Wu inan felt increasingly justified.

At that mont, Wu Xiaodi nudged his son, “Your aunt has been so good to you; when you grow up, you must take good care of her.

Did you hear?”

The kids squatting on the ground playing with mud shouted carelessly, “Dad, we will definitely take good care of great-aunt.”

Zhou Ru watched this scene, her eyes filled with hatred. She looked at Wu inan and angrily asked, “Mom, in your heart, my brother and I aren’t your own children, right?

Only your maternal family matters to you; the rest of us are just enemies.”
