However, the food factory’s seasoned ladies were taking an interest in Xu Ying, “Xiao Xu, how old are you this year? Do you have a partner?”

Xu Ying nodded, under everyone’s watchful gaze, “I do.”
“Ah, what a sha for such a nice girl; so pretty and can cook well. I was thinking about setting you up with my cousin from my mother’s side.”
Upon hearing this, Old Li snorted out of his nose, “Hmph, as if your nephew is good enough, please, she’s pretty and capable. She wouldn’t give your nephew the ti of day.”
“Hey, now, Old Li, what are you talking about? What’s wrong with my nephew?”
And just like that, the two of them started arguing.
Xu Ying saw the commotion and discreetly slipped away.
The food factory was considered one of the top few factories in the county. There were three major factories in the county: the food factory, the textile factory, and a bakery.

“Who are you, it’s working hours now. Why aren’t you working properly and slacking off here instead?” A middle-aged man approached with a look of disdain on his face.
“Who are you?” Xu Ying curiously asked.
Upon hearing she didn’t recognize him, the man’s face flushed with anger, “Aren’t you from our factory?
If you’re not from our factory, then how co you’re inside our factory?”
“Where’s the security departnt? Take this person away at once. How could they let soone not from our factory in?”
“I work here, in the cafeteria. I just finished with the work and was taking a look around,” Xu Ying explained.
She thought this was a rather big fuss to make.
Hearing that she worked in the cafeteria and so young, probably a nial worker, the man looked down on her even more.
“Since you work in the cafeteria, why aren’t you staying put there and coming to our back offices instead? This area is for the leaders; it’s not a place for low-level workers like you!” the man scolded.
Xu Ying couldn’t help but chuckle, “Uncle, I was just walking around the factory. How did I end up in your offices?
Your office is clearly in that building, and you’re telling I’m in the wrong for taking a few steps on the staff path?
According to you, factory workers can’t walk this path, and it’s exclusively for the leaders?”
The uncle proudly raised his nose, “Right.”
Xu Ying burst into laughter at how unreasonable he was and promptly pulled out her work ID, “I’m sorry, I’m not just an employee at the food factory cafeteria, but I also work part-ti in the food factory R&D departnt.
”
The R&D departnt is in the sa building as your leadership offices, so I’ll just go over there. What about it?”
Xu Ying said and strode toward the building the man had just been blocking.
She claid to be part of the R&D team, yet she had never visited even once. Today, she happened to be here and was determined to check it out.
Upon hearing her words, the man was montarily stunned, watching wide-eyed as Xu Ying entered that building.
He hurriedly followed her inside. The R&D departnt was full of learned intellectuals, college graduates. Since when did they have a greenhorn girl among them?
He chased after her, furious and in disbelief.
Even if this girl belonged to R&D, did that an she could disrespect him, a Deputy Factory Director?
Vice Factory Director Qian, his face red with anger, chased after Xu Ying.
“You girl, stop right there.”
“Mr. Qian, what’s going on?” Mr. Sun had just walked into the building and saw Vice Factory Director Qian, his face a mask of confusion.
The forr Deputy Factory Director spotted Mr. Sun and imdiately found soone to complain to, accusing with disgust, “We have a new female employee in our factory. She claims to work in the cafeteria and doubles as an R&D employee.
I saw her wandering around the factory just now and thought she was so employee slacking off. She told she worked in the cafeteria, but instead of doing her job there, she skulked around the factory. I thought she might be a spy.
So I questioned this girl a bit more, and who knew she’d have such a temper? I hadn’t even finished speaking, and she pulled a face and ran off.”
The more Vice Factory Director Qian spoke, the angrier he beca.
After hearing this, Mr. Sun’s brows furrowed. Xiao Xu was not the type to be impolite; there must be so misunderstanding.
He said with a smile, “Mr. Qian, she’s not an outsider; she really is one of our employees. You know about the marinated duck and fried dishes, right?
This girl developed them. I think there’s definitely a misunderstanding between you two. Just wait here, and I’ll call Xiao Xu over.”
Vice Factory Director Qian snorted coldly. Who didn’t know that Mr. Sun was about to retire and that he was the only one qualified to be the new factory director?
That girl dared to look down on him; he would give her a proper lesson later.
On the other side, Xu Ying, with her work ID in hand, had gone to the R&D departnt. Just as she approached the entrance, soone stopped her.
“Who are you looking for?” The man, upon seeing Xu Ying’s face, had a flash of recognition in his eyes and then looked at her curiously. His eyes lit up as he called into the departnt,
“Brother Zhou, is your girlfriend here looking for you?”
The man called Brother Zhou quickly ran out. Seeing Xu Ying at the door, he paused, then turned to glare fiercely at his colleague, “Don’t talk nonsense.
Miss, are you here at our R&D departnt for business? Or looking for soone?”
Xu Ying pointed at her work ID.
The young man who had been all smiles a mont ago glanced at it, and a shock crossed his eyes, “You’re Xu Ying!”
Surprise flashed in Zhou Yi’s eyes, “Hello Xu Ying, my na is Zhou Yi, this is Yang Nan. He’s like that, don’t mind him.”
Yang Nan looked at Xu Ying with a full smile, “Hello, new colleague. The boss told us you’d joined our R&D departnt as the head.
We were just curious if we’d ever see you, and here you are today.”
“Head?” Xu Ying looked confused. Mr. Sun hadn’t told her she was coming to be the leader.
Yang Nan nodded quickly, “Yeah, didn’t the boss tell you?”
“Let introduce you – this is our R&D departnt. Zhou Yi and I are employees here.”
