Lumina remained seated in the cold dungeon chamber, her blind eyes turned forward. Stella stood by her side, alert and protective, though the silence pressed on them like a weight.
Just then footsteps approached, and Lumina already figured out who it was going to be after all they hadn’t shown up in days after her ordeal with his mother.
Just then Adam appeared in front of the cell.
"Your Highness, welco," Stella let out, bowing her head out of forced respect.
Lumina lifted her face slightly. "Why have you co? Have you co now to finish the job you started? Why exactly are you here?" Adam didn’t miss the annoyance in her voice as she spoke to him.
Adam leaned against the bars, amused by her calm presence. "Well, I am happy to tell you this. Even after all this, your husband hasn’t shown up."
Lumina smirked and rose to her feet. "He hasn’t shown up... or you have done sothing to hide him from the world."
Adam let out a bitter smile. "I won’t lie. I love that I will be the reason you are separated from everyone. But I must tell you the truth. He left without thinking twice about you."
"What?" Lumina asked slowly.
Adam laughed again. "You don’t know? The day the dragons ca, he ran to them. You thought we hid him in the prison? No. He left. Straight to them."
For a mont Lumina froze. Aria’s frantic words from that day ca rushing back, and she clenched her fists.
"I refuse to believe anything that cos from your mouth," she said quietly. "After all you poisoned and then gave poison as the antidote."
Adam smirked and flicked his gaze at one of the guards.
The guard stepped toward the bars. Stella, understanding he wanted to take her lady, moved instantly to block him, but Lumina gasped and pulled Stella aside so fast.
The guard’s claws retracted the mont he saw Lumina standing directly in front of him.
Lumina lifted her hand, a bright light pulsed from her fingers and the guard’s breath caught in his throat, stopping short.
Stella watched in shock. Never in her life had she seen her lady react so quickly. If Lumina had been a second slower, the guard would have killed Stella on the spot.
"Get your hands off him! You are in prison!" Adam shouted and launched a burst of fire toward Lumina.
She shifted back, gritting her teeth, heat burning across her arm. She tilted her head again, focusing, and the guard’s breath fully seized. He fell to the ground lifeless.
"No one touches my girl and goes scot-free," she warned. "Send that ssage to the rest of your guards unless you want to lose more of them. Enough lives were lost here already today."
Adam stared at her, stunned. "How... how did you know he was about to attack her? You cannot see.... Then how are your actions so effortless?"
Lumina smirked. "I told you before. I may be blind, but I am not a fool. Do not think you can use my blindness against . I hate when you cross your limits."
Adam swallowed hard, still staring at her like he was seeing her for the first ti.
Then he stepped closer. "Then what if I told you... Wherever your man went, without my power he cannot co back?"
Lumina smirked at that, which only irritated him further. He reached out and grabbed her neck, pulling her close.
"Why don’t you fight back and let hurt you? What exactly is your plan?" he asked, squeezing harder
"Why do you always want to take for a fool.." Lumina grinned weakly through the grip.
"That is because that is what you will forever be for ." His grip tightened.
"As much as I enjoy riling you up... I am still displeased by the fact that I cannot even see your face," she added again.
"You have been in this dungeon for a while, and still you carry this confidence? I want to wipe it from your face," he hissed, leaning close.
"You are beautiful up close. Your blindness is the only reason you are not my crown princess."
Lumina got irritated and stepped on his foot sharply earning a groan from him, loosening his hold.
"I am soone else’s wife," she snapped. "And this is disrespectful.."
Before she finished, his lips crushed against hers. The kiss was harsh.
Lumina pushed against him but his grip trapped her. Anger flared in her veins. She bit his lip hard. Blood touched her tongue, but Adam still didn’t let her go.
With her free hand, she pulled the pin from her robe and plunged it deep into his thigh.
Adam let out a pained roar and stumbled back. "You... bitch!" he spat, clutching his leg.
Lumina wiped her lips with her wrist and pointed the bloodied pin at him.
"Touch again and this goes straight into your eyes." Adam glared, breathing heavily. "Guards!" he shouted. Stella’s eyes widened.
"Kill her!" he yelled, gesturing to Stella.
Lumina didn’t flinch. "Kill her... and your mother will die."
Adam froze mid-command. His brow raised, fear flashing through his gaze.
"Get out of here smoothly," Lumina warned. "Unless you want to face the beast inside ." Adam slowly raised both hands in surrender.
"Fine. You win."
"And I will win again in the future," Lumina added.
He gave her one long look, a mix of rage and disbelief, then turned toward the exit. As he walked past Stella, a twisted smirk crept onto his lips.
He stepped out of the dungeon and spoke to no one in particular in a low tone.
"Kill Ero. Smoothly and Silently. And for the other bitch... I will handle her myself."
A figure erged from the shadows behind him, cloaked in darkness. Cyres.
"Smooth and silent, my lord," Cyres replied, bowing.
Adam nodded once and disappeared into the corridor, leaving the dungeon as a huge grin appeared on Cyres.
