Tania’s face twisted with bitter resentnt.

"It’s all because of that bitch, Anne Clair," she spat out the na that had beco a thorn in her side. "Denis doesn’t love her, but he still refuses to let her go. He wants to keep her around like so plaything. As long as she is in the picture, my plans—our future—will never happen."

Desperation flickered in her gaze as she grabbed Enzo’s hand. "Enzo, help get rid of her. Once she is out of the way, Denis will have no excuse left. He’ll marry ."

Enzo stiffened in shock. "Tania! You’re asking to kill soone! Do you even hear yourself? This isn’t a ga. If I get caught, my life is over."

Tania’s grip tightened further. "Nothing will happen to you," she insisted. "Trust . Accidents happen all the ti. People die unexpectedly every day. One more unfortunate event, and Anne will be gone. No one will suspect a thing."

Her expression turned almost pleading as she continued, "This is for us, Enzo. For our future. Once I marry Denis, the Beaumont fortune will be within our grasp. We’ll never have to worry about money again. Our children will have everything they could ever want. But Anne is standing in the way. We have to eliminate her—no matter what it takes."

Enzo was still hesitant. He exhaled deeply, his expression torn between love and unease. "I don’t think this is a good idea."

Turning to her, he grasped her hands firmly. "Tania, I may not be as rich as Denis, but my family business is stable. We can have a comfortable life together. I can take care of you—I can make you happy. Leave this ss and co with ."

But Tania’s resolve was unshaken. Giving up was not an option.

"Just this one ti," she urged. "Help with this, and if it doesn’t work out, I swear I’ll leave with you."

Enzo studied her for a long mont, conflict raging in his mind. Finally, he exhaled sharply, nodding. "Alright. If this is what you want, I’ll do it—for you. But if anything goes wrong, we leave."

A smile spread across Tania’s lips as she nodded eagerly. "Yes. You have my word."

Enzo’s hesitation faded as his gaze darkened with lust. He pulled her closer, his lips grazing her ear. "Now, let’s stop talking about Denis and Anne," he murmured. "Smile for , and let’s enjoy our second round."

With a smirk, he rolled her beneath him, capturing her lips in a deep kiss. His hands trailed down, grasping her soft curves, losing himself in the heat of the mont once again.

The next morning...

Anne groaned as the alarm blared, reaching out blindly to silence it. A dull throb pulsed in her temples, making her wince. Slowly, she cracked her eyes open, squinting against the soft morning light seeping through the gaps in the curtains.

She pushed herself up lazily, her body sluggish from sleep. Blinking in confusion, she glanced around the room, trying to piece together how she had ended up in bed.

The last thing she rembered was drinking at the party—alone. After that, everything was a blur.

"Ugh..." she groaned, pressing her fingers to her aching forehead. "I shouldn’t have drunk so much." The headache was her punishnt for overindulging, and she regretted her action.

Then sothing crossed her mind all of a sudden, and she stiffened.

"The interview!" she gasped. Panic flared inside her.

Her head snapped toward the clock on the nightstand. 8:30 AM. She let out a sigh of relief. She still had ti to prepare.

But her eyes narrowed at the sight of sothing unexpected. Beside the clock lay a neatly folded note and a single red rose.

Augustine might have left it for her.

Anne picked up the rose, twirling its delicate stem between her fingers as she brought it to her nose. The sweet fragrance filled her senses, and a soft smile spread across her lips. The thoughtful gesture sent warmth through her chest, montarily easing the dull ache in her head.

Setting the flower aside, she unfolded the note with curiosity. Her smile deepened as she read:

’Good morning, sleepyhead. I had to leave early for an urgent eting. Don’t forget you have an interview today—it starts at ten. Be there on ti and let know how it goes. Your husband will be waiting for you at the office. Once you’re done, co see . I have sothing to give you. See you soon.’

"Sothing to give ?" she murmured with anticipation, wondering what surprise he had prepared for her this ti.

Anne arrived at the interview venue to find a group of candidates waiting outside the room, so pacing nervously, others fidgeting with their resus. The tension in the air was palpable.

In the anti, a woman ca out of the interview room, her face laced with frustration and disappointnt. The next candidate grew even more nervous as her na was called. Smoothing her skirt, she entered the room.

Anne remained seated calmly in her place. She did not doubt her capabilities. She knew she was the best fit for the job, and no amount of nerves or intimidation would shake her confidence. With a composed expression, she waited for her turn.

After so ti, the woman ca out with relief and quiet triumph. From her beaming expression, it was clear that her interview went well.

Anne waited patiently for her turn. When her na was called, she rose gracefully and strode into the room with confidence.

The interview panel, consisting of senior executives and HR representatives, studied her resu. A flicker of surprise crossed their faces when they noticed her previous employnt at the Beaumont Group.

"You worked at Beaumont Group?" one of them asked.

Anne nodded with a polite smile. "Yes. I was part of the team that worked on the project this company is currently handling."

The panelists exchanged glances. "And why did you resign?"

She remained unfazed. "Personal reasons," she replied smoothly. "But my departure had nothing to do with my performance. In fact, I have extensive experience in this field and understand this project better than most. I know I’m the best fit for this position."

Her confidence was undeniable. The interviewers assessed her, clearly intrigued.

"Alright, Miss Clair. Wait for the result announcent."

Anne nodded and walked out with a smile on her face. She was sure she would get this job.

The result was announced finally. A wave of excitent surged through Anne. Her heart leapt as the words sank in: she had been appointed the project lead.

A proud smile tugged at her lips as she pulled out her phone, her fingers itching to share the good news with Augustine. But then, an idea sparked in her mind.

Why just text him when she could surprise him in person?

She could already picture his reaction, the pride in his eyes, the warmth in his voice as he congratulated her. Her mind raced with anticipation.

She slid her phone back into her bag and walked away with a mix of joy and pride.

Her pulse quickened as she entered the elevator and pressed the button to go to the top floor.

She arrived at the top floor in no ti and approached Augustine’s office. Her excitent fizzled the mont she saw Lorie seated at the secretary’s desk. Her steps faltered, her joyful expression fading into a cold stare.

"You?"

"You!"

Their voices clashed in unison, both filled with shock and hostility.
