Half an hour earlier.

Selina stood in the kitchen, diligently searching for recipes.

Why did every recipe online look so simple, yet beco impossibly difficult when she actually tried to cook?

After struggling for over 20 minutes, she finally prepped the ingredients and was ready to cook. Just as she was about to start, a sudden bang startled her.

Hot oil splattered from the pan, leaving Selina utterly confused. She instinctively looked for help.

Logan frowned and quickly walked over. With one hand, he pulled her away from the stove, and with the other, he turned off the gas burner.

Realizing she had caused trouble, Selina drooped her head. "I..."

It was the first ti Logan had seen her like this—silly, dazed, and a little flustered. It was such a stark contrast to her usual playful and clever deanor.

So, even Mrs. Reid had things she wasn’t good at. When faced with difficulties, she showed this kind of expression.

Logan chuckled softly and spoke at an unhurried pace, "Out you go, Mrs. Reid. I’ll take care of it."

Selina was ushered out of the kitchen, left to stand there dumbfounded as she watched Logan move with quick and efficient precision. It was hard to imagine that the sa hands that commanded the business world with ease were now cooking for her.

"It’s done."

Logan finished cooking in no ti, his expression calm as ever. "Try it."

Selina shifted her gaze from his face, feeling a strange sense of unreality.

But wait—Logan, the heir of the Carter Family, raised with utmost care and surrounded by a personal nutrition team, knew how to cook?

Was it just for show? Could the taste even be decent?

She took a chanical bite, then looked up in shock. "Your cooking is amazing!"

Logan paused, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Judging by Mrs. Reid’s reaction, you seem a bit skeptical?"

Selina swallowed hard.

Who said heirs of wealthy families couldn’t lift a finger in the kitchen?!

With skills like these, it was clear he’d practiced for years. But why would the Carter Family heir ever need to cook?

"When... when did you learn to cook?"

Logan replied leisurely, "It’s simple. No need for any special training."

Selina felt an arrow pierce her heart. "..."

Still, Logan didn’t hide the truth. His voice carried a quiet stillness. "I learned while studying abroad."

Selina suddenly understood. Oh... that’s right. Grandpa Carter did send his youngest son abroad to toughen him up for a while. Maybe he picked it up back then.

Logan’s eyes glead, and the indifference from earlier seed like an illusion. With a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, he asked, "Why does Mrs. Reid want to know?"

Sensing a hint of danger, Selina quickly shook her head. "N-no reason. I was just surprised."

Logan nodded slightly. "Hmm. I’m surprised too that the eldest daughter of the Clark Family, who was sent to the countryside, has no idea how to cook."

In the countryside, there wouldn’t have been any maids to care for her. She would have needed to prepare all her als herself. But judging by her reaction, it was obvious she’d never stepped foot in a kitchen.

Selina froze, worried he’d see through her. Her voice instinctively rose a little. "...Because Uncle Ford took care of !"

Logan smirked faintly but didn’t expose her lie. "Is that so."

Selina thought he believed her and let out a sigh of relief.

After dinner, she went upstairs, took a nap, and woke up to find it was already past 1 a.m.

Rubbing her eyes, she decided to wash her face. At that mont, her phone buzzed with a ssage.

"That person is still investigating you. Be careful."

Selina’s drowsiness vanished instantly. She narrowed her eyes.

That person had been investigating her for five years and still wouldn’t give up. Wasn’t it enough already?

Now they’d even found her little villa in BW Town... Even Uncle Ford hadn’t been able to trace their whereabouts. What was that person after?

Her screen lit up again with another ssage.

"But you don’t need to worry—so far, no one has connected the hacker ’Luna’ from five years ago to the na Selina."

Selina clicked her tongue. That was good to hear.

"As for the Clark Family, I followed your instructions and put pressure on them, but the direction of the rumors isn’t quite what I expected... Never mind, take a look for yourself."

Curious, Selina glanced down. A video had been sent via Facebook, apparently recorded at a banquet.

In the video, she could hear people gossiping:

"I heard the Clark Group’s Riverside Park project fell through, and they lost three hundred million for nothing!"

"How could that happen with Noah involved? And weren’t there rumors that Mr. Reid was going to invest too?"

"What else could it be? Obviously, Natalia offended Mr. Reid! She went to Sapphire Valley Villa, and the collaboration got canceled..."

"Oh my God! Do you think she tried to seduce Mr. Reid?"

"It’s not impossible! Otherwise, why would Mr. Reid and Noah both back out of the project together? What could Natalia have done to offend everyone at once?"

...

Selina blinked after watching the video.

She had only intended for the Clark Group to suffer losses. She hadn’t expected outsiders to speculate that Natalia had tried to seduce Logan, and with such convincing detail at that.

Still, this worked too. It was about ti Natalia got a taste of what it felt like to be publicly condemned.

...

News that Natalia had offended Logan spread across the upper circles like wildfire.

Even though it was already past 1 a.m., the ripple effects of Logan’s actions were reverberating throughout the business world, with nearly everyone speculating on the deeper aning behind his move.

At the Carter Family villa, the lights were blazing. Ryan stood in the living room, not daring to breathe too loudly.

Old Mr. Carter’s hands were trembling as he replayed the recording Miller Butler had delivered, then furiously flung the phone aside.

"Look at this! Look at the woman you chose! What kind of nonsense is this? Twisting the truth and tarnishing Selina’s reputation—has she no sha?!"

Ryan opened his mouth. "Natalia, she..."

"Stop it, Dad, don’t get so worked up!" Jillian rushed forward anxiously, her eyes darting nervously. "Natalia didn’t say anything *that* wrong. It’s Selina’s fault for refusing to step aside as Ryan’s fiancée. So what if Natalia complained a little?"

"Idiot!"

Old Mr. Carter sneered coldly. "With a short-sighted mother like you, it’s no wonder Ryan fell for that illegitimate howrecker! This entire situation is already a disgrace for the Carter Family. And yet, that howrecker has the gall to play the victim and slander Selina in front of Mr. Reid!"

"Now look at the ss we’re in. The whole upper-class circle knows that the Carter Family is heartless and immoral, abandoning its rightful fiancée for an illegitimate daughter! If Natalia truly cared about Ryan, she wouldn’t have said such things!"

Jillian swallowed nervously after being scolded, her guilt obvious. "Natalia... Natalia just has a little scheming nature. But Selina..."

"Shut up!" Old Mr. Carter snapped, his expression icy as he looked up. "Ryan, the Carter Family owes Selina. If you can’t handle this properly, I will consider reclaiming your shares."

"Grandpa!"

"Dad! You can’t!"

"That’s not fair!"

Three voices cried out in unison, and the entire Carter family descended into chaos.

Reclaim his shares... all because of Selina?!
