The impostor trembled with nerves, unable to squeeze out a single word.

Logan stood up calmly. "Luke, co upstairs with . Give the quarterly report on Reid Group."

The impostor quickly said, "I’ll let you two handle business, then."

Logan nodded.

Luke looked from one to the other, then followed Logan, full of curiosity. "Okay, seriously—what’s going on? Selina’s got a new face, I didn’t even recognize her. And this fake one? Damn—she’s got guts."

Logan lowered his gaze. "Jacob’s behind it."

"Knew it," Luke muttered. "That guy’s shady as hell. So when’s Selina going to get her face back?"

He kept mumbling. "This impostor—she looks down on Selina but keeps flaunting her identity. Is she delusional or sothing?"

"How do you know she looks down on Selina?" Logan cut in suddenly.

Luke blinked. "Isn’t it obvious? She totally does. But the thing is—her entire life now is stolen from Selina. Why would she look down on her? If she does, then why steal from her in the first place?"

"This girl makes no sense."

Logan narrowed his eyes, lost in thought.

Just like Luke said: if she thinks so little of Selina, why steal her life?

To envy Selina, to covet her life—and still think herself superior...

Luke clicked his tongue. "Honestly, weirdos like that are everywhere. Look at Owen. He thinks you’re beneath him but still tried to steal everything from you."

Logan’s head snapped up.

Owen—once just a foster son—was forcefully given the title of rightful heir by Alia. But everyone knew his status was stolen.

Sa with Alia and Anna.

And the Hill Family.

Hannah’s perfect heiress life? Also stolen—from her cousin.

Could this impostor be connected to Selina in the sa way?

...

Downstairs, Jacob saw Selina walking toward him and smiled. "What were you and Logan talking about? Looked like a pretty happy chat."

Selina shot him a cold look. "Yeah. It’s been years. Of course we had things to talk about."

Jacob chuckled. "Did you discuss how you’ll reclaim your identity?"

Selina’s eyes instantly darkened.

Jacob shrugged. "Not that it matters. Even if you had a plan, it’s useless. With that face of yours? You’re hardly convincing."

Selina nodded. "You’re right. That’s why I’m back, aren’t I?"

"But knowing you, you’re not just going to follow around quietly. You’re already thinking..."

Jacob paused, then smiled faintly. "Thinking about how to make the fake one trip herself up, right?"

Selina narrowed her eyes.

Jacob kept his easy smile. "Take your ti. No rush. And hey—tomorrow might bring a surprise. Get so good rest tonight."

anwhile, Old Mr. Carter, as the host, gave a short speech. Afterward, guests retired to their rooms.

Jacob hadn’t restricted Selina’s freedom. Her room was nice enough—but she knew everything, including her phone, was being watched.

She kept thinking about Jacob’s so-called "surprise."

Sothing about "rest well tonight," "don’t get too worked up tomorrow morning"...

Would Jacob actually arrange a surprise?

Definitely not.

It had to be a shock.

And if he planned to shock her—there was only one person he could use.

Suddenly, Selina’s head snapped up, her face draining of color.

Logan!

"Mr. Reid, Mrs. Reid, this is your guest room. If you need anything, just use the in-room line," a Carter Family attendant said politely before closing the door.

The impostor’s breathing quickened as she forced a smile. "Logan, it’s late. Let’s get so rest."

Logan walked forward coldly, but suddenly, a wave of dizziness hit him.

He spun around sharply!

The impostor pretended nothing had happened, swallowing nervously, excitent flickering in her eyes. "Logan, lie down and rest. When you wake up tomorrow, everything will be better... ah!"

A pair of strong hands clamped tightly around her neck.

A cold, terrifying energy radiated from Logan as he narrowed his eyes. "What did you drug with?"

The impostor choked for air. "Logan, let—"

Logan’s mind felt heavier and heavier, a storm darkening in his gaze.

He had been careful—knowing Carter Family and this woman would try sothing tonight, he’d watched everything he consud.

But still, he’d been drugged.

A tingling numbness crept over his body. He realized what it was, and his expression darkened. His voice turned flat, unreadable.

"So... you want to beco the real Mrs. Reid."

The impostor trembled, her eyes widening in panic.

He knew. He knew.

That’s why he said it that way!

She panicked, scrambling for a response. She bit her lip and played dumb. "Logan, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t understand. I... I’ve been your Mrs. Reid for a long ti. We’re married. You and I—"

"You and I what?"

Logan’s voice was razor-sharp. "You and I are already married, so having sex again shouldn’t be a problem, Mrs. Reid?"

When she heard the phrase "again," a chill shot down her spine.

He’d figured it all out—her identity, her plan. What now?

"I... Logan, just sleep for now. Tomorrow—"

Tomorrow, once the drug finishes its work, you’ll forget all of this. You’ll believe I am Mrs. Reid!

But before she could finish that thought, pain shot through her neck—and her words caught in her throat.

Logan watched her collapse without a flicker of emotion in his eyes.

The Carter Family must’ve been certain he’d either be fooled by this woman or give in to the drug’s effects.

Jack arrived quickly, dragging the woman out. He looked worriedly at Logan. "Sir, should I call Dr. Drake?"

But Logan remained composed. "Leave. Lock the door."

If the impostor dared drug him at the Carter Family banquet, it ant the drug wasn’t easily countered. Even Ethan might be useless.

The best plan now was isolation—lock himself in and wait it out.

Jack obeyed, stepping out. Just as he was about to shut the door, he saw soone approaching. "You—"

...

Selina had realized what Jacob ant by a "surprise." She jumped up at once.

She had to find Logan!

Strangely, no one tried to stop her. She reached Logan’s door with ease.

Jack only saw the Carter Family’s "Sophia" rushing toward him. "Miss, you—"

Before he could finish, Selina darted in while he was mid-motion closing the door.

Bang—

The door slamd shut behind her.

Jack’s face went stiff.

Oh no.

Following Logan’s orders, he’d just set the door’s smart lock to only open from the inside—once Logan sobered up.

Which ant...
