Logan looked away. "You an the part where she said, ’We’ve been married so long and still have no kids—can’t you understand how badly I want to be a dad?’"

He repeated Angelica’s words word-for-word.

Selina lowered her head and murmured, almost inaudibly, "Yeah."

"You care a lot about that?" he asked.

"It’s not that... I just an, don’t you have any thoughts about it?"

Logan’s tone was calm. "What thoughts should I have?"

"Don’t you want children?" Selina asked.

His expression softened slightly. So that’s what had been on her mind.

"Do you like kids, Selina?"

The sudden shift caught her off guard. Her tongue tangled. "I... I don’t know."

Logan seed to understand. He didn’t press her, just laid it all out plainly.

"If you like kids and want one, then I’ll try."

He paused. "If you don’t like them, or don’t want any, I’ll respect that too."

Selina frowned. "But I’m asking what you want."

"My wants depend on you," Logan said casually. "You’re the one who has to carry the child for nine months. You’ll be the one going through everything. All I contribute is sothing insignificant. So I don’t think it’s my place to decide."

He wasn’t like Daniel, who dread of having dozens of sons. Logan was calm and rational.

"When it cos to this decision," he added, "you’re the one whose opinion matters most."

But if you asked whether he wanted kids?

Yes. He did.

Still, Selina always ca first.

She looked at him.

She understood exactly what he ant—and maybe that’s why her chest suddenly tightened.

Her mother had been injected with a drug during pregnancy that left Selina born with toxins in her body. If she ever tried to get pregnant, those toxins would transfer to the baby. It would likely be fatal.

After a long pause, she said softly, "I don’t like kids."

Logan paused. "Alright."

Selina bit her lip. She didn’t know why, but a deep sadness welled up inside her.

Why did she have to be the one with this burden?

Why couldn’t her body handle pregnancy?

She would’ve loved having a baby.

"And you’re not allowed to like Angelica’s kid either," she added.

Logan glanced at her. "Why would I like soone else’s kid?"

Selina felt reassured.

After dinner, Logan went to the office, and Selina wandered into a nearby mall.

"Miss, looking for sothing for your husband or boyfriend?" a sales assistant asked cheerfully. "We’re running a special promotion!"

Selina realized she’d accidentally walked into the n’s section.

This wasn’t so high-end luxury store—just an affordable chain. A dress shirt cost barely over a hundred.

Logan would never wear anything like this.

She turned to leave—until the salesgirl leaned in with a conspiratorial whisper.

"You know, in symbolism, when a man accepts a belt from a woman, it ans he’s willing to be tied to her for life..."

Selina: "..."

She knew it was just a cheesy sales pitch, but she couldn’t help feeling tempted.

Five minutes later, she walked out holding a belt.

As the cold wind hit her, regret set in.

It was so cheap. Would Logan even wear it?

Whatever. Whether he wore it or not was up to him.

She bought it—how could she not give it to him now?

Back at Sapphire Valley Villa, Selina was waiting for Logan to co ho.

But it was already past 10 p.m., and there was still no sign of him—not even a returned call.

Logan rarely went off the radar like this, and Selina couldn’t help but worry.

Beep beep beep...

Just then, her phone rang—it was Freya.

"Selina, what’s going on? The internet’s going crazy. Where are you?"

Selina frowned. "What do you an?"

"You haven’t checked online?" Freya’s voice was urgent. "Soone took pictures—Logan and Angelica were spotted at the sa hospital. Angelica went in for a prenatal checkup, and right after she entered, Logan’s car pulled up. The shippers online are losing their minds, saying the ’real couple’ is dropping sweet monts."

"Which hospital?"

"BH Hospital. It’s owned by Drake Group. Seventeenth floor, inpatient wing."

Selina thanked her and hung up, lips pressed tight.

She opened Twitter, and one notification after another flooded in. Angelica had shown up at the hospital, and Logan had entered the inpatient wing just monts later. Practically back-to-back.

Was Logan really there because of Angelica?

Before she could finish the thought, a text ca through.

"Don’t be too upset. Once you’re divorced, the Morris Family will make sure you have a better, happier marriage."

Selina’s face darkened.

Judging by the tone, the ssage was from Kyle. So the Morris Family was already planning Logan and Angelica’s wedding? Even though she and Logan weren’t even divorced?

Logan still wasn’t answering his phone, so Selina grabbed her keys and headed out—straight to the hospital.

She’d been to BH Hospital before. Once she reached the 17th floor of the inpatient wing and tried to enter, two bodyguards stopped her.

"Sorry, Mr. Reid is inside. No unauthorized visitors allowed."

Selina studied the n—she didn’t recognize either of them. "Where’s Jack?"

A flicker of disdain crossed one of the guards’ eyes. "No comnt."

Selina frowned. Were these even Logan’s bodyguards?

"Well, if it isn’t Miss Clark," a voice called.

Before she could respond, a man in a doctor’s coat stepped out of the room, pretending to scold the guards. "Don’t you two have any awareness? This is Mrs. Reid. How dare you block her?"

The guards fell into the routine like a rehearsed act. "Mr. Reid gave no instructions to allow Mrs. Reid in."

The "doctor" smiled slyly. "Miss Clark, here’s the thing—Mr. Reid’s security only takes orders from him. If he didn’t tell them to let you in, they won’t. But hey, since you’re here, maybe it was Mr. Reid’s idea?"

He looked her over with an almost mocking gleam in his eyes. "If you can show so kind of proof that Mr. Reid sent you, we’ll let you in."

The guard echoed him, "Exactly. If you can prove it, you can go right in."

Selina narrowed her eyes. Logan’s phone had been unreachable all night, and now this so-called doctor and guard were claiming to be his people—yet she had never seen them before.

"Oh no, don’t tell Miss Clark ca here without Mr. Reid’s permission?" the doctor said loudly, acting shocked. "Can’t be. Everyone knows how close you two are—Mr. Reid supposedly respects you a lot. Why would he co to the hospital and not tell you? Ah, what am I saying—must be nonsense!"

The man feigned an innocent shrug. "Rules are rules, Miss Clark. How about this—give Mr. Reid a call. If he picks up, we’ll let you right in. Sound fair?"
