Logan trembled slightly under her gaze and grabbed her hand. "What’s wrong?"

Selina pouted angrily at him.

If he could give Angelica a villa worth two billion, it ant they had known each other for a long ti—maybe even been through life-and-death situations together.

Being friends with a woman like that... no taste, no standards!

She shook off his hand, took a step back, and stomped down the stairs. "I’m full. Not hungry."

Logan raised an eyebrow.

She walked into the kitchen and grabbed two pieces of bread. Logan, standing nearby, glanced at her and said in a deep, magnetic voice, "Mrs. Reid, didn’t you just say you weren’t hungry?"

Selina froze mid-action, suddenly feeling guilty about being caught in a lie.

But then she thought—why should she feel guilty?!

She puffed up her cheeks. "I’m allowed to change my mind, aren’t I?"

Logan’s gaze lingered on her. His voice was low and amused as he chuckled. "At least Mrs. Reid has so self-awareness."

Selina nearly choked, instantly annoyed.

"I’m going to school. Logan, don’t follow ."

Miller Butler hesitated. "Sir, is Madam upset?"

Even the usual "Mr. Reid" was gone—she was calling him by his first na now.

Logan, however, wasn’t angry. He let out a low chuckle. "I’ll take care of it."

...

At school, Selina found herself unable to focus. Her mind kept drifting back to Logan.

She ended up taking leave and heading ho, throwing herself onto her bed, refusing to think about anything else.

...

anwhile, Katie excitedly clung to Angelica. "Angelica, you’re truly my good daughter! Just one tweet, and Selina’s entire plan collapsed. Thank goodness you ca back—otherwise, I wouldn’t know what to do!"

Angelica exuded confidence. "When are Natalia and Ryan getting married?"

Katie hesitated. "It seems like the Carter family still has so doubts about Natalia..."

"I’ll take care of that. The sooner she marries into the Carter family, the better. As for , I must have Mr. Reid."

"Alright, alright. We’ll do as you say."

Angelica looked down on this mother-daughter duo, thinking they were nothing but useless, but she maintained a gentle facade. "Mom, I heard the family is in deep trouble—our investors are pulling out?"

Katie’s face turned dark at the ntion. The Drake family had led the charge in withdrawing investnts, and people were saying Clark Family favored a mistress and her illegitimate daughter, making them unworthy of business deals. Jas had been furious and, as usual, blad everything on her.

"Mom, don’t worry. I have a plan."

Angelica headed straight for Jas’s study. "Uncle Clark, don’t worry about the money."

Jas knew his stepdaughter was capable, but Clark Group wasn’t short by just a million or two—it had a ten-billion-dollar hole. How could he not be worried?!

All because of that ungrateful Selina—if not for her, Clark Family wouldn’t be in this ss...

"Uncle Clark, Mr. Reid gave a villa. He also promised one more favor."

Jas was stunned. "Mr. Reid... You an Logan?!"

Angelica’s red lips curled. "Of course."

"Good, good!" Jas was ecstatic. "Angelica, the future of Clark Family depends on you! That unfilial Selina married Mr. Reid but has only brought us trouble. She doesn’t care about the family at all. You’re the one who truly thinks of us!"

Angelica smiled in satisfaction. "I’ll go to Reid Group now."

...

Half an hour later, at Reid Group.

"Sir, Miss Angelica is here."

Logan’s eyes narrowed slightly. "What does she want?"

"She said you promised her two conditions four years ago, and she’s here to ask you to fulfill them."

Jack’s tone was hesitant. Not long ago, Logan had finally found the woman from four years ago. Jack had investigated this so-called superstar Angelica, and he felt there was sothing off about her. Her gaze was sharp, almost venomous—nothing like the woman Logan had described.

But after extensive verification, this was indeed the woman from four years ago. She even knew about the two conditions, so there was no mistake.

Logan’s expression remained unreadable. "Let her up."

Angelica wore a striking red dress, her makeup bold and elegant. Usually composed, she couldn’t stop her heart from skipping a beat when she saw Logan.

This man, with his regal presence, made her pulse race. So what if he was married to Selina? That country bumpkin—if Angelica wanted to take sothing from her, she would.

"Mr. Reid, you once promised that you would fulfill any request I made. Does that promise still stand?"

Logan’s expression remained unreadable, his thin lips curling slightly. "Speak."

Angelica’s heartbeat quickened. "Clark Group has been cornered by my sister and is on the verge of collapse. But this company is Uncle Clark’s life’s work. I can’t bear to see it fail. I hope Mr. Reid will lend a helping hand."

Logan’s voice was indifferent, purely businesslike. "I promised you two conditions. Is this one of them?"

Angelica swallowed, slightly nervous. "Yes."

Logan’s response was cool and detached. "Jack will coordinate with you. Once these two matters are settled, we have no reason to be in contact again. Jack, see her out."

Angelica had barely been in his office for two minutes before being dismissed.

A wave of frustration surged within her. She was supposed to be Logan’s "lifesaver," yet he wouldn’t even spare her a proper glance?!

But that was fine. There was plenty of ti—she could take things slowly.

Angelica’s eyes flickered with calculation. She went to the restroom, smudged her lipstick slightly, draped a silk scarf around her neck, and sent a ssage to her agent: [Everything’s ready. Let the reporters in. Take plenty of photos.]

...

Jack escorted her downstairs and soon returned. "Sir, Angelica asked for 10 billion."

"Give it to her."

Jack knew better than to question Logan’s decisions, but he still hesitated.

"Sir, Angelica is injecting the money into Clark Group. Madam despises Angelica. If you help her, Madam will be furious."

Logan’s lips pressed into a thin line.

Selina had been upset this morning—probably because of the villa. Now, with him funding Clark Group with 10 billion, it was essentially helping her enemy. She would definitely be unhappy.

But Angelica had saved his life. He still rembered that girl, covered in blood.

He owed Angelica a life.

Two promises. A villa.

Once this debt was repaid, there would be no further ties between them.

...

Selina had slept through lunch, completely ignoring Miller Butler’s calls.

When she woke up in the afternoon, she saw nearly eighty unread ssages—so comforting, so gloating, so mocking.

She frowned, opened Twitter, and her expression darkened.

The news that Logan had injected 10 billion into Clark Group—and that Angelica had been seen entering and leaving Reid Group—was trending at the very top.

The entire upper circle of City A was discussing it. Social dia was in an uproar.

Logan had always made his distaste for Clark Group clear. Yet now, he was funding them with 10 billion? And why? Of course—for Angelica.

The powerful Reid Group CEO and the dazzling superstar—the perfect couple.

Ten billion, just because Angelica asked. A villa, given away without hesitation. If this isn’t love, what is?

[Angelica once ntioned overseas that she had soone she liked. Could it have been Mr. Reid all along?]

[They look amazing together!]

[So jealous woman must be crying in a corner. She worked so hard to ruin Clark Group’s reputation, and now our Angelica is bringing it back to life.]

[A country bumpkin could never reach Angelica’s level. Let her stay bitter.]

Selina’s mind buzzed.

Ten billion for Clark Group...

She kept scrolling.

[I also heard that when Angelica left Reid Group, her lipstick was smudged, her clothes were ssy, and she had a scarf wrapped around her neck to cover sothing. What do you guys think...]

[Wait, could they have... right there in the office?! Such a passionate couple!]

Selina’s phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor.
