Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' Chapter 156: Playing Dumb to Outsmart the Smart
Outside the Carter estate—
The mont Logan stepped out, he saw Selina waiting by the entrance.
Selina hung up the phone and imdiately changed her plans, asking the driver to take her to the Carter Family estate.
As soon as she arrived, she saw Logan walking out of the villa. "Logan, are you alright?" she asked, concerned.
Logan smiled with a slight curve of his lips. "Mrs. Reid, what brings you here?"
Selina replied naturally, "I was worried about you."
A sudden flutter of unfamiliar emotion gripped his heart, and it felt as if it was soaking in honey. "Don’t worry," he said with a relaxed smile, "I’m not missing any limbs."
Selina frowned in disapproval. "You know Carter Family has no good intentions. Why are you still here? Don’t co again next ti."
Logan couldn’t help but laugh softly. "Alright, I’ll listen to Mrs. Reid."
Jack, silently driving, thought to himself: "..."
This ti, no one dared to cross the boss. In fact, the boss had just taken 5% of Carter Family’s shares from Old Mr. Carter. The entire Carter Family was terrified that the truth about their adoption might be exposed, and they feared the boss’s thods. They were all angry but dared not speak out.
Jack had already figured out Mr. Reid—he was clearly pretending to be pitiful to gain his wife’s sympathy!
Upon arriving at the villa, Jack received a ssage: "Sir, tomorrow is the City A University mobilization eting. The president has invited you to attend. Will you go?"
Logan pondered for a mont. "Didn’t Mrs. Reid say her design competition spot was taken?"
So, of course, he had to go.
Mrs. Reid hadn’t asked Jacob for help but instead complained to him. He was quite satisfied with that.
The next day.
Selina woke up and started looking for a dress. Miller Butler, standing by, asked, "Madam, do you have any events today? Would you like a stylist to co over?"
"No need, it’s not that fancy."
Selina picked out a simple dress. "Today is our school’s mobilization eting. We’re about to graduate, and the president and the board of trustees will be giving speeches."
It was a tradition at City A University to hold a banquet for the seniors during the second sester of their senior year.
Miller Butler suddenly said, "How coincidental! Sir is actually one of the board mbers. He could take you there."
Selina froze for a mont. Hmm? Is Logan really that free these days?
When they arrived at the grand hall, Selina looked around to make sure no one was watching. "I’ll get out here."
Logan’s tone was gentle. "Alright."
She didn’t want her classmates to know about her relationship with Logan, so she quietly got out of the car. But after walking only a few steps, she heard a wave of gasps.
Selina instinctively turned around and locked eyes with Logan. "You..."
Logan casually responded, "I just happen to be walking this way too."
The man’s fingertips lightly brushed her collarbone, adjusting her collar, and then leaned in slightly, lowering his voice, "See you in a bit."
Selina: "..."
After Logan left, she imdiately heard a group of girls excitedly screaming, "Ahh, isn’t that Mr. Reid, the board mber?"
"Isn’t that Selina with him? Wow, if Mr. Reid could help fix my collar, that’d be amazing!"
"Dream on! But why would Mr. Reid bring Selina to school?"
"Maybe Mr. Reid is in love with Selina!"
...
Natalia hid behind a corner, her gaze dark and vengeful as she overheard their conversation.
Selina, Selina, again Selina! She was supposed to be the center of attention today, but once again, Selina stole her spotlight!
"Natalia?" A male voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
Natalia quickly adjusted her expression and smiled lightly. "And you are?"
The man, flattering, responded, "I’m Tom Hanks. I was the one who sent you the birthday gift!"
Natalia rembered him now. Tom was the heir of Hanks Group and had always treated her like a goddess.
Natalia’s eyes glead with a plan, and she blinked back tears. "Sorry, I’ve been so tired lately that I didn’t recognize you right away. It’s because of my sister... never mind, it’s nothing."
Tom imdiately frowned. "Selina again? Natalia, did she bully you?"
Natalia sighed. "I got my spot in the design competition through my own efforts, but Selina insists on stealing it... It’s not a big deal, though. I’m just worried our sisterhood is becoming strained... sigh."
"Natalia, you’re just too kind!" Tom said, anger flashing in his eyes. "Don’t worry, I won’t let Selina bully you anymore!"
Natalia put on a worried expression, pretending to soothe him, but actually provoking him. "Don’t act impulsively. Even though my sister likes to bully , after all, we’re still sisters. I can just let it slide..."
Tom, wanting to defend his goddess, stord straight to the backstage.
A sly smile flickered in Natalia’s eyes.
The banquet began, and after the president and board mbers gave their speeches, the students started chatting among themselves.
Logan changed out of his suit and put on a white trench coat, preparing to look for Selina.
Selina was sitting in a corner reading a magazine when a waiter approached, holding a glass of wine. The wine spilled directly onto her!
She quickly turned around, and the wine splashed all over her clothes.
The waiter nervously apologized. "I’m so sorry! It wasn’t intentional..."
Selina narrowed her eyes.
She was sitting in the corner, where no one usually passed by. This waiter had co straight toward her, and the timing was too perfect—it had spilled all over her. If she hadn’t moved just now, it would’ve landed right on her face.
The waiter’s eyes darted around, panic rising as he begged, "Selina, I truly didn’t an to! I know you’re from a wealthy family, I can’t afford to offend you. Please, show rcy and forgive !"
"I don’t have enough money to compensate you, but I’m willing to kneel to apologize..."
People started turning their heads to look.
Most of the people there were university students, and they had never seen soone so ready to kneel just like that.
As they saw Selina’s icy expression, they began to feel even more pity for the waiter.
Soone tried to persuade, "He didn’t an it, Selina. Just let it go."
Others frowned, their eyes turning disdainful. "Selina, your family might be rich, but this is school. It’s not a place for you to bully others."
At that mont, Natalia walked over. "Sister, what’s going on?"
The waiter seed to find his ally and started crying out loud, "Miss Natalia, please save ! I ruined Miss Clark’s dress, I don’t want to die! I can kneel and apologize!"
The murmurs around them faded, and all eyes turned to Selina.
Natalia hesitated before asking, "Sister, are you hurt?"
Selina scoffed, realizing Natalia’s intentions. It was clear that the waiter was part of her sche.
Natalia sighed. "Sister, you’re not even hurt. Why get upset over this? Even though you’re the eldest daughter of Clark Family, Dad always said we should act like ordinary students at school, not use our wealth to push people around. This..."
The crowd murmured praises for Natalia. The two sisters may have been family, but they handled things very differently.
After speaking, Natalia turned back to the waiter, gently comforting him. "It’s okay, it was just a glass of wine. I’ll talk to my sister, don’t worry."
The waiter gratefully thanked her, "Miss Natalia, you’re such a good person! No wonder everyone likes you! Unlike so people who are so petty..."
A proud glint flashed in Natalia’s eyes. "Sister, what do you think? It’s just a glass of wine, let’s make a big problem smaller, okay?"
Logan’s eyes narrowed sharply as he prepared to step forward.
But Selina gave a soft laugh and spoke aningfully.
"Natalia, are you sure it’s just a glass of wine?"
