"The court the monarch has is that of his father’s," Osha said.

An entire group of allies that knew nothing of him? Wouldn’t it be difficult to operate?

"Isn’t that considered treason to deflect?"

"It’s accepted because in a royal match, it’s possible to share courts; rging the court into one makes it more powerful. Just like the Dowager and the previous monarch. This can work without a royal match, too, as long as both parties support the change."

"But what does this have to do with the royal siblings?"

"Presently, the siblings are just stagnant. So much power in their court, but they are not using it."

I snapped my finger. "Which ans I can share that power and have a partnership with them, in other words, I can have my court?"

"Yes!"

I smirked devilishly. Now this is sothing solid. My half-baked plan can season well!

"But wouldn’t there be conflict about this? A human trying to gain power?" I questioned.

"Your ability to lobby a sibling to your side will be considered a great feat. Think about it, Your Grace. A human being aided by a sibling will raise your status!"

My eyes lit up, and this couldn’t be the perfect grand plan. With this, everything can fall into place! I’ll have my place in the Lycan world!

In Beloria, I had nothing, no allies...nothing. I was more of a naless bastard daughter, but if I play things right in Valkanor, the wife of the monarch can an sothing!

"But..." Osha’s expression fell. "I-It’s a dead end, Your Grace."

"Huh? What? What?! Don’t give up on now!"

"The Prince, Damon Balthar, is considered ntally unstable to the point that he was sent out of the palace!"

"M-ntally unstable?"

"He has little to no control, and his responses to simple things are t with violence. For an Alpha to have such qualities is considered dangerous."

I shivered. I knew Lycans had a primal side, one considered wild and untad, but what made them exceptional was their ability to control.

Prince Damon might prove to be a very dangerous person.

I shuddered. "You’re right, Osha, this might be a dead end."

"And the Princess! Princess Diana Balthar. She’s not out in society yet; the Dowager ensures she’s locked in her wing. No one has seen her or even knows what she looks like. I heard she’s a spoiled brat who tortures her handmaids, many have been out of her service too. Anyone who has encountered her has spoken about how she always dresses so lavishly, with thick makeup, because of how insecure she is about her looks. So many ghastly rumors."

I placed my hand beneath my chin. "A spoiled brat, I can deal with."

"Your Grace, she might be hostile towards you!"

"Maybe, but if I can convince her to co to my side, then I might change her view. Tell , is there a reason the Dowager keeps her confined?"

"Well, because she’s not out in society?" Osha doesn’t sound too sure.

Even I could tell that was nonsense, even though it’s considered lawful. I only t the Dowager once, but I could tell she was a proud person and held Drevon in high regard. Princess Diana was her only daughter, and yet she confines her? There must be a reason for it.

"Tell more about Princess Diana. Anything you have heard of."

We burned the midnight oil. Osha and I talked a lot, and she gave all the information she could think of.

I’m so exhausted, my entire body aches, mostly my head. The bed was a comfort that was welcod, and sleep was not too far away. It lured so deeply like a gentle whisper of cool air.

But I felt eyes on , and a scent that followed, knocking my unconscious mind awake. That scent was rich, like leather and forest soil, earthly but nice.

I was too tired to open my eyes to seek the presence in the room. Whatever it was should just go away and allow a mont of rest.

I groaned when I felt a thumb stroke my cheek, my lashes fluttering. Mustering enough strength, I opened my eyes, but they were half opened.

The lights in the room were dim, and only a little part of Drevon’s face could be seen, but that view was srizing; it made everything dreamy.

He was lying next to , his inky dark hair framing his eyes fell to the side in a scattered cluster, almost shrouding his other eye, but I could still see the subtle glimr; his molten crimson blazed, but it wasn’t as scary as I hoped.

This was a pleasant dream. A sweet one.

"There you are, you beast," I mumbled sleepily.

A soft smile spread on those lips of his, making them kissable.

"Beast? Isn’t that a harsh na to call your husband?" he teased.

I buried my face more into the pillow, and I felt his hand brushing my curls gently and tucking them behind my ear.

"Why are you so tired?" he asked worriedly.

"None of your business," I grumbled.

"Tell , is sothing wrong? Are you cold?"

I opened my eyes and found him watching with a concerned look plastered across his face.

"Does it hurt anywhere?" he asked, then his teeth clenched. "I hurt you."

When I didn’t say anything, he leaned close and murmured. "Forgive ."

He honestly thought he did, and I knew what he apologized for.

"You shouldn’t have left like that," I muttered.

"I know," he said with regret swirling in his eyes. "I should have stayed and kept my word. But if I had lingered..." he paused.

"Would you have shifted?"

"No," he admitted. "But I would’ve scared you. I saw the look in your eyes when you saw my canines."

My eyelids got heavy, and even though I tried so hard, I couldn’t fight the fatigue.

"I’ll be out of the castle for a few days."
