"You’re from the Order," I said, trying to remain calm.

Unlike Corvin, this warlock had a nacing air around him. Any careless actions was not an option.

If only I could feel my ice. I chewed the inside of my mouth. I haven’t been able to for so ti now. I had no idea why I couldn’t materialize it, but I had a feeling it had to do with my pregnancy.

I’m vulnerable in the eyes of an enemy; there’s nothing I could do. I’m terrified.

"He did get to you first." He conceded.

"So what if he did? I wouldn’t have known there were rats in my kingdom."

Not a very smart move, Eloise!

He snorted before barking into a full-blown laugh. As he indulged himself in whatever amused him, I veered my gaze to the door.

It was locked from the outside. I had no idea how he did it, but I’m trapped here with him.

"A rat?"

"What do you call unwanted things?" I countered. "Here you are, in a place you’re not wanted. You cannot expect to welco pests with open—"

From the eye slits of his white mask, there was a glow of violet. "You’re indeed the Mother of the Endless. It’d have been a disappointnt if you did not amuse ."

"Do I look like a clown?" I bit back. "I make no jest."

"Ravishing! Where are my manners?" He did a dramatic bow, a hand to his chest, while the other spread out, and his head lowered. "I’m Zevrin Hallow, Lord of the Order. You may call Zevrin the White, whatever pleases Her Royalness."

Zevrin straightened his position, and my body moved; it wasn’t by my doing, but an unknown force working my legs. I tried to fight it, but it was like pulling a rope attached to a boulder.

I gasped when I suspended before him, my chest rising and falling heavily as my trembling eyes took in this tall man who rivaled Drevon’s height.

"Mother of the Endless. I have co for you."

I gritted my teeth when his hand moved to my face, but he only made a ghostly attempt to caress my cheek.

"Why murder with such eyes?"

The audacity of him to ask such a question.

"Do you think I’d go with you?" I said, keeping my voice strong, even though I was shaking beyond relief.

He laughed deeply. "Why not? You’re chosen to bring about a great change to the craft. Are you not honored?"

"H-Honored? How does sacrificing my child for your ideas be considered an honor? I know nothing of your Order, and I want no part of it. Leave my child out of this!"

"The blood of a lycan, a snowblood, and a warlock runs through the Endless veins. Your child will change the realm as we know it. You’re being selfish if you think you can keep such eminence to yourself."

His hand was close to my stomach, and my body was angled uncomfortably.

"W-Warlock? What are you talking about?"

"Seems like Corvin the Black didn’t tell you that part."

"H-How about you tell about that part?"

"Buying ti? I don’t think so. I’m not a very patient man. Maybe I can do the honor of telling you after we leave."

"Touch and I’ll scream!"

"Go ahead."

At his chilling words, the walls wobbled as if they had no form.

"Scream, yell. There was no escape the mont those doors shut. Now co with , Mother of the Endless."

I sucked in breath as his hand shadowed my face.

"Do not be afraid, but rejoice in this opportunity to be part of sothing glorious."

I squeezed my eyes shut. Drevon!

Out of nowhere, a profound growl shook the place, and Snow erged, but he wasn’t little; he was about five feet tall, and he pounced on Zevrin, biting down on his neck, and his screams of agony filled the gallery.

I finally got the power to move my legs, and I ran to the door. "Co with , Snow!" I called as I yanked the door open, and a blast of wind hit .

I gasped, sitting up, trying to catch my breath. I shook from an unknown cold, my teeth clattering.

My erratic gaze road the empty gallery. It was empty, not a single trace of Zevrin, and the wobbly walls were normal.

Was I dreaming?

Panic filled my lungs because the more I searched for anything that could link to what happened, the more I realized it may not have transpired.

Was I losing my mind?

Feeling a weight on , I glanced at Snow beside , his head resting on my lap.

"S-Snow?"

If he’s here, then was it real? But I was all alone, and there was no one here. When Snow attacked the warlock, there was blood everywhere, but the floor was spotless.

"A dream," I said, unable to calm the tremors taking over like a hurricane. "It was a dream." I chanted like I was on the verge of losing my mind.

Suddenly, the doors burst open, and I flinched, frightened, but the mont I saw Drevon, mask gone and an erratic expression as his eyes road the grand gallery, I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.

The instant our eyes connected, Drevon was already crouching where I was, and I realized I was on the floor.

"Eloise." He cupped my cheeks. "You’re shivering!"

I hadn’t stopped shaking, and I didn’t know if it was from the cold or fright.

"Diana told you were gone. I looked for you everywhere. I couldn’t trace your scent." A glimpse of fear flashed in his eyes. "Don’t ever do that again, do you hear ? Or else I’ll tear down these walls bit by bit until I find you."

"Did you find her?" Diana rushed in with knights. "Goddess! Is she okay?"

"Send for Celia, now!" Drevon picked up, and I sagged in his arms.
