I walked to the mirror. I have been reluctant to do so the whole ti, but I summoned the courage to do it.

I slowly placed my hands on my belly and exhaled softly. A child was growing inside . I still can’t handle this, especially when Celia ntioned there was a heartbeat.

I was confused and scared.

"Are you really in there?" I murmured. "Tell if you are and give ease." I pressed tightly. "Please."

The doors barged open. I peered at Drevon through the mirror. He caught my hands on my stomach, and I twirled, attempting to speak.

"I—" I couldn’t finish because Drevon was on his knees and leaning to place his ear on my stomach.

"Drevon?" I blushed, wondering what he was doing. "I-I guess you got the news and—"

He was up on his feet, cupping my cheeks and smashing his lips against mine. I was taken by surprise, but I closed my eyes in bliss, kissing him right back until we matched rhythm.

It was almost like I could feel a load of emotion spilling from this one kiss. Shivers took over my entire body as my pulse raced.

"You have just made the happiest man on earth."

Was he crying? The only ti I had seen him cry was when I woke up from my unconscious state, and now. Was this enough to make this beast cry? To have such raw emotions naked before . Does it affect him much?

I rose to my tiptoes and used my hands to wipe his tears away. "How am I supposed to act if you behave like this?"

Drevon smiled, leaning his face against my hand in a caress, as if my touch brought him more joy. The look in his molten crimson eyes was enough to make teary.

My eyebrow furrowed as I uttered tightly. "There’s no heartbeat."

He must have heard that news too; maybe that was why he was crying, but his next words told otherwise.

"I feel its energy. It’s like mine, so I recognise it."

"W-What?"

His hand covered my stomach, and a look bead on his face like the sun. It was pure joy.

"It’s alive, my love. So you shouldn’t worry."

My breath shuddered, a wash of relief flooding my entire body. I didn’t realize how tense I was until now, like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. If Drevon could feel an energy, then that ans it was growing well, right?

Drevon dropped to his knees again, pressing his head into my stomach, and I was once again awed.

I lted seeing him this engrossed. I just realized sothing, and my bones chilled.

I have never given Drevon anything; he had given so much, more than I could count. I felt a tug in my chest, and my eyes turned glassy.

Is this the only thing I can give him?

I swallowed. "There should be a heartbeat, Drevon, how can it be growing without one?"

He caresses my belly. "I know this may be scary for you, but I want you to trust when I say everything will be okay."

He stood, and my chin tilted. "In the anti, are you thirsty? How do you feel right now? Are you hot or cold, pressured or tired?"

I think Drevon’s concern for my well-being has just tripled.

I smiled faintly and shook my head. "No, I’m fine."

"I need you to have more rest from now on, stay within the chambers if possible."

"Drevon!"

"What?"

The doors opened as the Dowager and Diana hurried in. Gosh! They heard, too?

"Is it true?" The Dowager asked desperately, staring at like I had brought the moon to her.

"There’s still much we’re uncertain about, but yes, it’s true," Drevon replied.

The Dowager laughed as she took my hands in her hold. "You did well!" She praised . "The goddess light shines on you!"

I only forced a smile and looked at Diana, who shrugged.

"I think it’s best we keep it within the royal family for the ti being," Drevon suddenly suggested.

"You know the whispers, son, it will surely fly." It sounded as if she couldn’t wait to spread the whispers herself.

"It won’t," Drevon enforced. "I don’t want any pressure on my wife. This is sothing sensitive and early. I trust you can stop any whisper with your connections."

I have never wanted to kiss Drevon so bad! I’d certainly do that only until they leave us alone.

"Fine, I’ll see what I can do. I’ll hold it off for as long as I can." The Dowager glanced at . "It’s wise Celia is your healer, keep her close, and I’m sure she can tend to you far better."

I opened my mouth to speak, but I choked.

"Vase!"

I didn’t know who handed the vase; my face was buried in it, but nothing ca out.

"Poor child, what is left for you to vomit if you haven’t had anything to eat?"

I glared at the Dowager before giving Drevon a pleading look.

"Alright, I think it’s ti for you to retire to your chambers. Eloise needs her rest."

"Of course," the Dowager nodded in agreent. "I shall see you tomorrow for the rite, or should we postpone it?"

Rite?

"I shall let you know if Eloise is fit for it."

It seems that was enough for the Dowager, and she stepped out.

"I’ll ask Talia to bring a brew, I think you need it far more than solid food," Diana said.

"Thank you," I said.

The mont the doors shut, I spoke. "The Dowager is awfully happy."

"You just made her dream co true."

I sucked in breath. "I should be angry, I did, but I can’t."

Drevon smiled at , walking to sit and placing on his lap. He tucked so of my loose curls behind my hair, and then he asked a question no one had.

"How do you feel about the baby?"
