Evelyn~

"I finally found you, my Luna!"

I snapped my head toward Theron the second the words "my Luna" ca out of that ginger-haired man’s mouth.

I thought Theron would look confused, but no. He wasn’t confused at all. In fact, he was furious, the kind of fury that made the veins on his forehead bulge.

His hand gripped the hilt of his sword so tightly that I could hear a faint crack, he was literally crushing it in his hand.

"How dare you call my Luna yours," Theron growled, stepping forward until he was standing right in front of . "She’s mine. Evelyn is my Luna!"

The ginger man didn’t even flinch. He didn’t seem the least bit bothered by Theron’s anger.

In fact, he didn’t even look at him. His eyes were only focused on .

"So, your na is Evelyn?" he said, his voice softening as he looked at . "That na suits you. Beautiful na for a beautiful woman ... my love."

The veins on Theron’s forehead pulsed harder, and I genuinely worried they might explode and kill him right then and there.

"That wouldn’t be good," my wolf whispered in my head. "If one of your mates dies, it’ll affect all of you badly."

I was about to ask her more about that, but then Theron’s roar made jump.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" he shouted, glaring at the ginger-haired man like he was ready to rip him apart. "How dare you flirt with my mate right in front of ?!"

He stord toward the man like he was ready to rip him apart, barking an order to the palace guards, "Kill them! Rip those bastards apart!"

So soldiers tried to pull away from the chaos, but the wolves from the notorious pack jumped in, attacking them viciously.

Just like that, I got caught in the middle of chaos. I was being pushed, pulled, and tossed around like a ragdoll in the middle of a war.

"Is he really my mate?" I asked my wolf as I struggled to break free.

After being fought over like so kind of prize, I finally managed to break free and ducked behind a large rock to catch my breath.

"Can’t you feel it?" my wolf replied. "Seriously, have you ever wondered if getting burned so often made your brain a little slow?"

I gasped. "Excuse ?! I still have feelings, in case you forgot."

She must’ve realized she crossed a line, because she went silent for a few seconds.

She even pretended to clear her throat, which was funny considering she didn’t have one.bThen she added, a little more gently, "The tension you felt earlier? That was the sign. You and him have a special connection."

"Besides," she continued, "Alphas as strong as those two usually avoid each other. Because if they fight, it could destroy everything around them."

"They’d never step into another Alpha’s territory unless whatever they’re fighting for is really worth it."

In this case, that sothing ... was .

I peeked over the rock and saw Theron struggling to stay upright.

The poison had spread through most of his body, and I could see it affecting him more and more.

His sword clashed violently against the ginger-haired man’s massive axe.

Their battle was brutal, tal against tal, power against power, but Theron was clearly starting to lose ground.

"Your Majesty," the ginger-haired man said with a smirk, baring his fangs in a way that made it feel like he was toying with him. "How about we make a deal?"

"You hand over my mate, and I’ll let half of your soldiers live."

He glanced around the battlefield like he was taking a casual stroll.

"I an, just look at this ss," he said, far too calm. "Most of your n are already down, and even if reinforcents show up, my pack and I are still able to bring them down."

Theron spat right into his face, clearly disgusted and completely uninterested in the offer.

"You only managed to back us into a corner because you fight like a coward," he growled, spitting again, this ti onto the dirt near his boots. "Typical behavior from a pack of mutts raised in the gutter."

The ginger-haired man was still smiling, but there was sothing darker now behind those erald eyes.

"Oh, Your Majesty," he said calmly, "there are no rules in war. The only thing that matters ... is winning." He paused, then added with a grin, "And bringing ho what’s mine, my beautiful Luna."

"She’s mine," Theron repeated firmly, his golden eyes glowing fiercely in the dark. "If you want to take her, you’ll have to walk over my dead body first."

"Alright, then."

Without hesitation, the man pulled a pistol from behind his back and aid it directly at Theron’s forehead.

"Bye bye."

BANG!

Theron moved just in ti to dodge the bullet to the head, but sohow, the bastard had predicted it.

He shifted his aim mid-shot, and the bullet slamd into Theron’s shoulder instead.

"Fuck!" Theron tried to press his hand over the wound, but his body suddenly froze, turning stiff as stone.

The purple lines on his skin spread wider, covering more and more of his body.

When he opened his mouth to speak, blood trickled down from the corner of his lips.

"As much as I’d love to kill you right now," the man said casually, slipping the pistol back into its holster, "your death would create way too many political headaches."

"You know, I really hate politics, so lucky you, I’ll let you live for ... I don’t know. Maybe until I’m in the mood to deal with you properly."

He stepped forward and pressed his boot down on Theron’s head, forcing his face into the dirt

"But if you ever try to take my Luna from , I won’t think twice about killing you."

I imdiately lowered my head, doing my best to make myself invisible. It was clear that Theron wouldn’t be able to protect in his current state.

It was shocking to see an Alpha King get taken down so easily, but then again, it was a surprise attack, and the other man had the upper hand from the start.

"Maybe we should start planning our escape," I whispered, my eyes scanning for a path that looked safe enough to run.
