After stepping out of the tent, Leon walked at a rhythmic pace, slowly reaching the front of the Undergod River. There he stood in a long silence, one filled with a sense of tranquility and dread.
"Are you serious?" A voice sounded from behind Leon as a figure much taller than him with broader shoulders appeared.
They were at a crossroads, but both options on the table were undesirable to Leon. He would not abandon his ambitions for the diocrity of just following orders. This was not sothing his heart could bear.
"Of course I am. It won’t be long before the entire thing blows up in the region. I might as well start," Leon said while looking forward.
For the past couple of months, the warlock clans had been taking action all over the Undergod territory. However, they had only focused on powers with heretical structures guiding their leadership.
The strongest fighters that had been deployed in the open were at most peak level 3.
"It’s not just you though, you’ll need my help," the figure behind Leon said coldly, not understanding why Leon was going so far as to jeopardize their entire mission for this ’show.’
"Naturally. You were the one who gave the advice of sweeping the river, after all," Leon smirked as he looked at Kang with the corner of his eye.
"Sigh, you’re troubleso. It’s no wonder the old man didn’t stick around," Kang sighed in exhaustion.
His pride would never let him watch Leon do this alone. After all, the kid was directly under him in terms of status, and Leon knew this.
"It’s good if you co with," Leon said calmly before turning around to walk in the direction of the moon. While he did so, Kang followed behind with his hands crossed behind his back.
....
A few hours later,
"I can’t believe we have to do this," one of the gang leaders that joined Leon’s Faceless Night group showed displeasure in his tone as they rode up a hill.
Including the prisoners they had captured, their troop amounted to not more than 3,500 n. When they spoke of Leon’s ruthlessness, it was laid bare in the number of prisoners he kept.
From 30,000 dead gang mbers, he had only kept fifteen hundred of them as prisoners. They all thought it was for the best since their troop was too small to command more than that, but now?
They were heading into a fight with an alliance that could potentially reach 20,000 by the end of the day. A few more prisoners as at shields looked much more appealing right now.
"Just keep your heart steeled. I’ve never known the kid to do stupid things," Ben paced his horse forward and rode past the man who was complaining. He was by no ans completely devoted to Leon, but he also knew Leon was not stupid.
He definitely had sothing up his sleeve, at least.
"What the hell?" As the gang leaders reached the peak of the hill, their mouths soon hung open in utter disbelief and shock.
From this vantage point, they could see the alliance base down the river—the mighty alliance predicted to recruit the largest number of gangs on the banks of the Undergod River was on fire.
There was widespread hysteria as n and horses struggled to drag themselves out of the alliance’s borders.
The camp had been decimated overnight.
"Let’s go down," Arian, Liana, and Ember passed by the gang leaders and went down without batting an eye. No battle awareness, nothing. It was like they thought it was completely safe down there.
They were right.
The myriad gang mbers of the alliance didn’t seem to care about the troop of 3,500 n heading toward them, the little pockets that remained, that is...
They just wanted to get out of there.
"My god," Alaster of the Seven Jacks muttered as he noticed a particular section of the alliance camp where a massive gash had appeared in the earth, cutting a straight line from the center of the camp to god knows where.
"That’s..." Ken saw this sight too and couldn’t help but smile bitterly. His best friend, Rengoku, didn’t say it much, but he had a secret fear for that monstrous thing called the Divine Serpent.
It was just too humongous for a Beast Actualization.
"Sigh, those two are crazy," Ken shook his head.
The mont he stepped foot in the camp, he understood what had happened here. And soon enough, the rest would too as they approached the center of the camp.
"Ohhh, you finally made it to the party?" An obnoxious and egotistical voice resounded from a table setting inside a turn-up tent.
"What happened here?" Ben was the first to co forward with a look of fear and caution.
The alliance camp had been set ablaze with so many bodies littering the ground, it looked like an army twice their size had blown through here overnight.
"What do you an? Isn’t it obvious?" Leon asked coyly as if saying it was common sense.
However, it was not. An army of at least 12,000 to 14,000 people couldn’t just disappear like that. It was virtually impossible. Sothing big must have happened.
"Please enlighten us," Ben stared at Leon’s tattered clothes intently. He knew this guy had a plan, but he thought it would be so sort of reinforcent or sothing. But what was this?
Seeing Ben’s curiosity, Leon stood up and walked to his side before placing his arm on his shoulder.
"You don’t need a 10,000-man army to defeat another 10,000-man army. What you need is two extrely powerful n willing to commit the worst atrocities to achieve victory," Leon said loudly for everyone to hear. Then he turned back and walked to where Kang was seated and grabbed a cup of booze.
The alliance didn’t see it coming. They had no idea that a Dragon and a quasi-level 5 transcendent being were coming for them.
First, it was their leaders, then their infrastructure, and finally, they themselves.
The Faceless Night ca and it went, but this ti it let many go to warn the rest of how stupid an idea it was to ss with them.
