"Ehh, manageable," Leon smirked bitterly.

No matter how hard he tried, he could always feel the gaze of the Supre Leader on his back while he went about his daily business. A massive operation like his could definitely not go unnoticed by soone like Nephron.

"Good," Nephron nodded. He had thoroughly investigated Leon’s Blood Misty Lilies and concluded they were a watered-down version of an ancient booster from thousands of years ago.

It was quite shocking to see such a thing circulating in the city, and Nephron wondered where Leon had gotten the formula. But he knew better than to pry.

"Hehe, really?" Leon asked with a strange look on his face. The Supre Leader said "good" as if he were supportive of Leon’s product, despite having made the rule that no Blood Serpent Clan mber was allowed to indulge in it.

This, in itself, was a massive limitation to Leon’s business, as the Blood Serpent Clan were virtually the biggest spenders in the city.

"Yes, of course. You’ve made BloodRock City a center for booster trade. It’s comndable, and I applaud you and wish you luck," City Lord Nephron smiled. Leon’s product had boosted BloodRock City’s relevance after the takeover.

Leon and the Celestial rchant Company selling boosters to other cities and strongholds had provided a valuable resource and made many others dependent on them. If the Golden Griffin Clan tried anything in the future, the Blood Serpent Clan would have more allies because of it.

In fact, if Nephron played his cards right, he could end up forming an alliance with those other powers. but he also knew so of the long term effects of this type of watered down booster, he still had to keep it away from his clansn.

"Thank you, then," Leon looked away. The two of them had their reservations about each other. Even though Nephron was technically Leon’s master, Leon didn’t trust him one bit.

The old man was just full of surprises.

"Hmm," Nephron placed the plastic cup he’d been holding on the table and stood up slowly. "Why don’t you co along and have a walk with , Alduwin?"

Nephron asked, but didn’t wait for a response before casually walking away.

"I’ll be right back," Leon said to Arian and the others before standing up to follow Nephron closely. A few seconds later, they erged into the bustling streets of BloodRock City, walking amongst its denizens.

Even though Nephron was the City Lord, it seed like no one recognized him. In fact, since both of them wore normal clothes, the crowd treated them like absolute nobodies.

This made Nephron smile.

He actually enjoyed being among the people, and being treated as a normal person on the streets was very refreshing for his soul. Unfortunately, that was not the life fate had in store for him. He was born to lead, and no matter how hard he tried to dismiss these responsibilities, they just ca back stronger.

"Kid, are you not interested in the war?" Nephron asked abruptly, causing Leon to raise an eyebrow.

Talking of war in the middle of the streets—this old man was just too reckless.

"Uh… I’ve yet to prepare my people… maybe in a month or two?" Leon said calmly.

The war against the Celestial Palace’s influence in the Undergod Territory was already in full swing. The Blood Serpent Clan had sent n to help uproot and kill Celestial Palace’s mbers.

"A month, huh? You’ll have to speed that up. Divine Kang will be leaving in three days. I want you to go along with him," Nephron said, glancing at Leon from the corner of his eye.

Leon clearly didn’t want to go now that the fighting was serious. He wanted to swoop in when everything had cald down and the various clans were exhausted, so his n could take the glory for themselves. That much was evident.

"I… don’t know," Leon hesitated. The war was good news for him—it would allow him access to more resources that could aid him in his journey to the Strongholds of the Peerless Existences, those who sought immortality.

He didn’t want to rush into it. He wanted to create a situation where he could reap significant benefits, including stealing from the already weakened warlock clans.

"It’s not a suggestion, kid," Nephron sighed. It wasn’t like he wanted Leon to leave. The kid had the bloodline of a Drake; Nephron wanted to keep him safe, maybe have him sire a few children. But it was out of his hands now.

If Leon didn’t leave, things might beco far more complicated than they appeared on the surface.

"But don’t worry, I have a special assignnt for you. You won’t need to engage in much battle at first. You and Divine Kang will be escorting so prisoners to the Undergod Monastery."

"By then, you should be ’ready’ enough to face the war head-on," Nephron said as he stopped in front of a guardhouse and opened the door.

The guardhouse seed normal from the outside, located in the middle of a bustling marketplace with barely any guard presence. It looked like a place for petty criminals.

’Why is the City Lord leading into a place like this?’ Leon wondered as they walked through the seemingly empty guardhouse.

After about three minutes of casual walking, they ca to a stop in front of a prison cell. But unlike the others, which were empty, this one held soone inside.

"Quvera?" Leon frowned deeply.

She looked dirty, draped in rags, her hair wet and bruised—evidence of torture. But Leon could easily recognize this woman, who had once chased him down Griffin’s Peak.

"She’s the one you’ll be taking to the Undergod Monastery. But make sure no one knows. Apart from you, only Kang will be aware. We don’t need the Underwood Alliance on our backs. And by the way, she knows that both of us are sorcerers."

After absorbing Malphas Grayback, Nephron had gained sorcerer-like characteristics he couldn’t fully control, so Quvera naturally noticed. However, she hadn’t detected Leon—until now. Nephron had just thrown Leon into the sa fold as himself.

The old man was despicable.
