This sumr is much hotter than previous years, causing many people to get sick and several water resources to dry up. Even the water level of the lake near the village dropped several ters deep.

Soon after Pan ijia left, Li Lingyun put the thick hemp rope wrapped in cloth on his shoulders and pulled the cart, while Li Chenmo and Dong Li pushed the cart from behind.

Despite their strength, transporting so much food at once was tiring for them. Fortunately, when they were a third of the way there, Zhang Ermu ca driving his bullock cart and helped them transport the grain.

With half of the grains moved to his bullock cart, it was much easier for them to push Li Lingyun's cart. Forty minutes later, they finally arrived at Li Lingyun's ho.

Unlike Li Chenmo's house, there are only two new underground warehouses in his house, which were built by Li Lingyun and a few villagers after he moved in. One of the warehouses is used to store wine, sauces, and dry goods, and the other is used to store grains.

But at this ti, the grain was not stored underground, but in warehouses next to the house. Since Li Chenmo had told them that soone would co to pick up their grains tonight, he didn't bother to move them into the underground warehouse.

As for the higher quality grains, it will be delivered tonight too.

It took them more than half an hour to transfer the grain into the warehouse. When Li Lingyun closed the warehouse door, Pan ijia ca over with a tray of cool mung bean soup.

She handed them each a bowl and said, "Everyone, have so mung bean soup to relieve the heat."

It was rare for Zhang Ermu to eat this, so he took it and said, "Thank you, sister-in-law."

Li Chenmo and Dong Li already regarded her as a relative, so they just said thank you and finished the mung bean soup.

After that, they returned the bowl and left. Before leaving, Li Chenmo looked at Li Lingyun and said, "Second brother, will you go to our father's house later?"

"Yes, I would like to send so at," Li Lingyun nodded.

"My wife also wants to send so food and at to Father. Second brother, can you help us send it over?" Li Chenmo asked.

"Sure," Li Lingyun agreed readily.

At noon, every household in Xie Village and surrounding villages can sll the aroma of at, which is all due to the pigs slaughtering today. Despite the hot weather, the atmosphere was full of joy.

At the sa ti, at Li Chenmo's house, Lu Jueyu was extracting lard from the fatty at. While she was stirring the fat at in the large wok, Dong Huang was tending to the fire and kept peeking into the wok.

Although she eats at every day, she still loves crispy lard residue.

Noticing her little movent, Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "Xiao Huang, you have to be careful when tending to the fire. Mother will give you so lard residue later."

Upon hearing this, Dong Huang grinned and asked, "Mother, Ah Lin received less at this year. Can I give him so lard residue?"

"Of course. Mother will season it later and you can eat it as a snack. But don't eat too much. Share it with your cousins," Lu Jueyu agreed readily.

Dong Huang was overjoyed and nodded, "Xiao Huang will listen to my mother!"

In the backyard, Li Chenmo and Dong Li were curing at with salt. Unlike other families who cured their at through the smoking process, they used salt instead, which was a better choice for curing their at.

At this ti, Dong Li was hanging the at on a bamboo pole to dry, while Li Chenmo was spreading salt on the at. The two worked together and finished processing the at in less than an hour. The rest of the curing process will be done by nature.

When they were finished, Lu Jueyu also finished extracting the lard. She poured the lard into an earthen jar and let it cool until it beca solid.

Then, she poured the crispy lard residue on a bamboo tray and seasoned it. After it was mixed well, she placed the tray on the kitchen table and let it cool down.

She picked a piece for herself and Dong Huang and tasted it. The taste of lard residue was similar to the pig skin snacks she had eaten in her previous life. No wonder kids love to eat it.

Lu Jueyu divided the lard residue into five parts and wrapped them in oil paper. Putting it on the bamboo basket, she looked at her daughter and said, "Xiao Huang, you can have it after lunch."

"Okay, mother." Dong Huang nodded, savoring the taste of lard residue.

Although Dong Huang wanted to eat now, she still listened to her mother and helped her bring out lunch.

Today's lunch is shredded chicken cold noodles, spicy bamboo shoot salad, pork and mushroom stir-fry, and snow fungus soup.

As the weather gets hotter day by day, Lu Jueyu often makes refreshing desserts and herbal tea for her family.

After the dishes were served, she went to the backyard and called her husband and son, "Husband, Xiao Li, it's ti to eat."

After hearing her words, Li Chenmo and Dong Li both went to the small living room near the backyard after washing their faces and hands.

Seeing that today's dish was a cold dish, Li Chenmo smiled and said, "Wife, thank you for your hard work."

Lu Jueyu smiled when she heard this and said, "Didn't you say you want to eat cold noodles yesterday? Co over and try it."

Smiling at his wife, Li Chenmo said, "Thank you, wife."

The cold noodles are refreshing and delicious, whetting their appetite.

While eating, Li Chenmo said, "Wife, we will start clearing the fields and preparing the soil the day after tomorrow."

Hearing this, Lu Jueyu frowned and said, "So soon? Tomorrow is the Dragon Boat Festival."
