When the sky turned completely dark, Han Yuheng finally arrived at his ho. When he opened the door, he found his wife waiting for him in the living room while coaxing his son to sleep. Looking at them, he felt warm in his heart.
He stood in the front yard in a daze.
He thought that after everything he did before to her, even if she said she wouldn't leave, she might still have resentnt in her heart, and their relationship would never be the sa as before. Unexpectedly, she really forgave him.
He looked at his wife for a long ti. He didn't co back to his senses until he felt wetness on his face. He reached out and touched his cheek, and found that he was crying without realizing it.
Taking a deep breath, he clenched his fists and said hoarsely, "Ah Yun, I won't let you down again."
Inside the house, Bai Luyun was pacing anxiously in the living room. When her husband told her he wanted to go to the mountains, she rejected the idea. But her husband insisted on going because if he didn't go they would starve. So, despite her reluctance, she still let him go.
But at this mont, she regretted that she had listened to her husband. It's already dark and he hasn't co back yet. Countless horrific scenarios of what could happen to him ran through her mind, making her heart beat fast with anxiety and worry.
When she looked outside for the nth ti, she finally saw her husband standing in the front yard. Thinking he was injured, she walked quickly to him and said, "Husband, you are finally back. Why are you standing here? Are you injured?"
Hearing his wife's trembling voice, Han Yuheng smiled and said, "Wife, I'm back. Sorry for making you worry. Let's go in and talk."
Bai Luyun beca even more worried when she saw the blood stains on her husband's clothes. Seeing him walking towards the backyard, she followed him.
When they arrived in the backyard, Han Yuheng put down the bamboo basket and the wheat as he said, "Wife, I brought back so mushrooms, wheat, and at. We should be able to hold on until distribution day."
Bai Luyun was stunned after hearing his words. She knew they could find mushrooms in the mountains, but she didn't know they could find wheat and at there.
Han Yuheng took out the contents of the bamboo basket and said, "Brother Chenze and I encountered a wild boar, but he killed it. He gave the at. We can cure it and save it for later."
"He also gave us two pig's trotters. We can make so braised pig's trotters for you. You need to eat well to nourish your body," he added.
When he took out everything in the bamboo basket, he found that his wife didn't say anything. Looking back, he found his wife crying silently.
He walked quickly to her side and asked, "Wife, why are you crying?"
Bai Luyun's heart sank when she heard that her husband had encountered a wild boar. She didn't dare think about what would happen if Li Chenze was not there. The fear of her husband's impending death chilled her limbs.
Han Yuheng held his wife's hand and was surprised to find that her hand was so cold. Noticing her fear, he pulled her and their son into his arms.
He patted her back gently and said, "Wife, don't be afraid. Aren't I fine?"
Hearing what he said, Bai Luyun hit his chest and said, "How dare you say such things? What should I do if sothing happens to you?"
Hearing her words, he couldn't say a word and let her beat him. After a while, she finally cald down and said, "Husband, don't go into the mountains again."
Han Yuheng didn't speak. He couldn't promise her, so he chose silence.
After a mont, he said, "Wife, you go inside first. I'll cook."
Bai Luyun knew that she could not change her husband's mind, so she could only take her son to the bedroom.
Today was the first ti the two of them had a peaceful dinner after many years.
As for the Li family, Li Chenze cleaned up the wild animals and wild boar's at, then took a shower and changed clothes before he returned to his room. He didn't want his wife to worry, so he said nothing about his encounter with a wild boar.
In the room, Zhang Dongi was nding clothes. Seeing him coming, she said with a smile, "Husband, you are back."
Zhang Dongi knew that her husband and brothers-in-law had set a trap in the mountains. Therefore, they occasionally bring back so wild animals. So, when she slled blood, she didn't notice anything unusual.
Li Chenze leaned over and kissed her on the forehead and asked, "Wife, how do you feel? Do you still feel sick?"
"Third sister-in-law brought so pickled kumquats. After eating so, I felt much better."
Putting down her clothes and needles, she added, "Husband, I'll heat up the stead buns for you."
Li Chenze stopped her and said, "I'll do it myself."
"Wife, I have asked the third sister-in-law to help prepare als for Father and us. So, you should get more rest these days. As for the housework, we can pay your sister to do it for us," he added.
Thinking of her sister, Zhang Dongi hesitated. Her sister is agile and strong. Doing housework is easy for her, but she is very greedy, stingy, and petty minded.
If you ask her for help, even if you pay her, she will continue to use this favor to take advantage of you in the future. Instead of owing her sister any favor, she would rather ask others.
Seeing her hesitation, Li Chenze asked, "Wife, what are you thinking about?"
After weighing the pros and cons, Zhang Dongi said, "Husband, how about we ask my aunt for help?"
