Walking into the backyard, Liu Hua noticed that so areas of the vegetable garden were almost fully harvested. In a few days, they may need to clear the land and start preparing it to plant the next batch of vegetables.
While she was still thinking about what plants were best for sumr, she went to the backyard and saw Lu Jueyu cutting a hay-like branch with a kitchen knife.
Liu Hua walked up to her and asked, "Jueyu, what are you doing?"
After hearing her question, Lu Jueyu looked at her and said with a smile, "Sister Liu Hua, you are here. I'm cutting these Chinese sona to make it easier to clean later."
Since her knowledge of dicinal herbs was limited, Liu Hua asked, "Are you going to use it as dicine?"
"No, I'm making grass jelly. These Chinese sona are the main ingredients. This dessert is delicious and can relieve the heat." Lu Jueyu explained.
Liu Hua was a little curious and asked, "Can these dry branches be used to make desserts?"
Lu Jueyu nodded and said, "Of course. Sister Liu Hua, I can teach you how to make it. You can also find these Chinese sona at the foothills."
Liu Hua had already learned several recipes from her, and when she heard her words, she did not refuse and agreed readily, "Okay. By the way, these eels are for you. Ah Li caught them this morning."
Lu Jueyu took the bamboo basket and opened it. There was a pot of eels squirming inside.
"Sister Liu Hua, please help thank Brother Li." She said as she poured the eel into the basin.
Since there were a lot of herbs, Liu Hua helped her cut it into 10 cm lengths. After finishing, Lu Jueyu poured all the dicinal herbs into a large bamboo basin and rinsed it several tis with water until there was no longer any dirt residue left on it.
Then, she poured 30 liters of water into a large pot, then put the Chinese sona and baking soda into the pot. She let it simr for 40 minutes.
While the dicinal herb was boiling, the two went to pick soybeans and peanuts. While picking soybeans, Lu Jueyu said, "Sister Liu Hua, I plan to serve spicy edama and peanuts as a snack before the al at your wedding banquet. Do you have anything else to add?"
Liu Hua was surprised after hearing what she said and said, "Jueyu, serving soybeans and peanuts as snacks, will the cost be too high? Soybeans are very expensive, and I can't use your stuff without paying."
Lu Jueyu smiled and said to her, "Sister Liu Hua, you have watched grow up, and Brother Xiao Li is like my brother. My husband and I don't have anything valuable for your wedding gift. So, you just leave your wedding banquet's preparation to us. This is our wedding gift to you and Brother Xiao Li."
"This.."
Before Liu Hua could refuse, Lu Jueyu said again, "Sister Liu Hua, we grow most of the ingredients ourselves. As for the flour and other raw materials, we still have a lot from last year's harvest. We need to finish it before it goes moldy."
Now that she said so, Liu Hua no longer refused and said gratefully, "Thank you, Jueyu. I don't know how to repay your help."
"Sister Liu Hua, if you regard as your sister, then don't be so polite to ." Lu Jueyu said with a smile.
Liu Hua smiled when she heard her words and nodded, "Okay."
When they finish harvesting the soybeans and peanuts, the herbal liquid is ready. After taking the pot off the stove, Lu Jueyu filtered the herbal liquid through cheesecloth. She strained it three tis until there were no more herbs in the mixture.
Then, she poured the liquid into a clean pot and added a bag of rock sugar. Since the Chinese sona is bitter, rock sugar can reduce the bitter taste.
When the rock sugar was fully mixed, she took several jars and filled them with the herbal liquid. This herbal tea can be enjoyed hot or cold.
After sealing the jars, she placed them on the kitchen table, scooped so sweet potato flour into a bowl, added so water, and stirred evenly.
Then she slowly poured it into the pot while stirring. After mixing thoroughly, she moved the herbal liquid into a basin and let it solidify.
She scooped the rest into several bowls and added red beans, sweet potato balls, and peanuts. She mixes it and lets it harden. When it hardens later, she cuts it into cubes and it can be enjoyed by adding milk or soy milk.
Although the process took a long ti, Lu Jueyu was still very satisfied with the results. Before Liu Hua returned ho, she gave her a jar of herbal tea and a bowl of grass jelly for her to try.
In the county hospital, Doctor Xie had just returned from the police station and was in Li Shu's ward.
At this ti, he was sitting on the chair next to the bed, holding Li Shu's hands. He patted her hand gently and said, "Xiao Shu, you can't eat greasy food yet. When you are discharged from the hospital, Grandpa will buy at to make braised pork for you."
Hearing his words, Li Shu recalled her ti in that world. The man told her that he finally found out about her biological parents, but they both passed away and she was left with only one grandfather. When she heard her grandfather's na for the first ti, she froze.
Now that she is back in her own world, it's not too late. Shortly after she was kidnapped by Chen Lina, both of her parents died.
Her mother died of grief at the loss of her daughter, and her father followed her soon after. They were both frail due to sickle cell anemia, a disease she inherited from both of them. Then, unable to bear the grief, they fell ill and passed away.
But what puzzles her is that if both parents have the disease, why didn't her grandfather get the disease?
