After lunch, An Xuyuan and the soldiers visited Father Li’s house again. When they arrived, Li Lingyun and Li Chenmo were also present as the brothers were checking their tools and machetes.

Seeing them coming, Li Chenmo smiled and said, "Comrade An, you are here."

The mont the soldiers saw him, they were stunned. They had heard about Captain Li Chenmo’s contributions to the barracks. During the ti when they lacked food, this person sent them several trucks of food to help them get through the hard tis.

Everyone held admiration for him and had always wanted to et him in person. Now, finally able to et him, their eyes shone brightly.

The team leader walked toward him and gave him a salute before he said, "Captain Li, it’s an honor to et you. Thank you for your contribution and help to the military."

Following him, the rest of the soldiers straightened their postures and gave him a salute as they said in unison, "Captain Li, thank you for your contribution and help to the military."

Receiving such a grand gesture, even the thick-skinned Li Chenmo felt embarrassed. He returned their salute and replied, "Everyone, as a mber of the Party, that’s what I should do. There is no need for this grand gesture."

Hearing this, the soldiers’ impression of him improved. Such a humble, generous, and hardworking person, it was no wonder the higher-ups often used him as a role model.

Under the strange atmosphere, Li Lingyun packed up his tools and said, "It’s not early anymore. We should depart now."

After he said this, he carried his bamboo basket and walked to the backyard. Li Chenmo and Li Chenze also picked up their bamboo baskets and followed their brother. Seeing this, An Xuyuan and the soldiers followed them as well.

Since the location where the wolves were seen was near Yan Village, they used a shortcut path and climbed the mountain. While the soldiers were unfamiliar with the field, they were trained, after all. So, everyone moved at a steady pace and reached the location in less than one hour.

The mont they entered the mountain forest, Li Chenze raised his hand and everyone stopped in their tracks. Squatting down, he checked the ground for a while and said, "There is a trace of blood and footprints. The wolf pack should be near this area."

When they heard this, everyone tensed up, and the soldiers held their rifles, ready for a fight. Noticing this, Li Chenmo smiled but said nothing. When facing a wild beast, sotis using a machete was better than using a rifle.

They followed the traces for a while before they heard a howl of a wolf in the distance. Hearing this, Li Chenmo said, "They are here."

Not long after, the sound of wolves howling got closer, accompanied by the sound of rapid footsteps and the crunching of dried branches being stepped on.

The soldiers raised their rifles while the Li brothers and An Xuyuan held their machetes. The next mont, a massive shadow leapt out from the bushes and pounced at the nearest soldier.

"Ahh!"

Bang!

The soldier was startled and pulled the trigger.

"Awooo~!!"

The wolf’s agile body managed to dodge the bullet aid at its vital area, but its hind leg was injured. It let out a long howl as it raised its head.

"Awoo~ Awoo~~!"

Soon after, the sound of wolves howling ca one after another. In less than a minute, more than ten wolves leapt out from the bushes and circled them in the center.

Seeing this, everyone got closer with their backs facing each other. They didn’t dare to move their gazes away from the wolves in front of them.

As the wolves bared their fangs at them nacingly, a larger wolf walked out from the bush in slow yet dangerous steps. Its azure eyes glistened coldly as it stared at the prey trapped in the circle.

Li Chenmo tightened his grip on his machete and said, "Everyone, be careful."

He locked his gaze with the alpha wolf. To defeat the enemies, he had to defeat the general first. So, he had to take down this alpha wolf.

The alpha wolf felt the danger coming from Li Chenmo and marked him as his prey. As it lowered its body, it let out a threatening growl.

Seeing this, Li Chenmo narrowed his eyes and pulled out a package from his pocket. The mont the wolf pounced on him, he threw the white powder at it.

"Awoo!!"

The white powder hit the alpha wolf’s face and made it miss its target. Li Chenmo ducked to the side and swung his machete down.

Crack!

The machete grazed the alpha wolf’s body and left a shallow wound. Blood trickled down from the wound and dripped onto the ground.

Seeing this scene, everyone raised their rifles and shot at the surrounding wolves. As wild beasts, their speed was not sothing a human could match. Therefore, despite having hot weapons, the soldiers were still unable to kill the wolves. At most, they could only injure them slightly.

Being injured by its prey, the alpha wolf grew angry. After letting out another growl, it pounced at Li Chenmo while baring its sharp teeth.

Seeing the incoming attack, Li Chenmo jumped to the side and swung his machete. This ti, the machete hit its target and struck the wolf’s body.

"Awoo!!"

The wolf let out a long howl of pain and landed on the ground with a loud thud. When it struggled to stand up, its limbs trembled before it fell to the ground again.

Seeing this, the corner of Li Chenmo’s lips lifted. The dicine is finally taking effect!

Taking advantage of the situation, he rushed toward the alpha wolf and aid his machete at its neck. Using all of his strength, he swung the machete down.

Crash!

The next mont, the wolf’s head rolled to the ground with a thud, followed by a thick scent of blood in the air.

When the pack saw their leader had been killed, they stopped attacking and slowly retreated into the forest. Noticing their intention to flee, Li Chenmo said, "Don’t let them escape!"
