When Ye Xinyue recalled those mories, she felt nothing but disappointnt and anger. But after a while, her emotions cald down, and she found that the mories of her ex-husband were no longer important in her heart.

Nodding at her husband's suggestion, she stood up and looked at Grandpa and Grandma Feng. Clenching her fists, she said hoarsely, "I'm sorry for visiting so suddenly. Please tell Ah Lin that I will co back to see him again."

With that, she left alongside her husband. The n who accompanied them placed the gifts they had brought from the city on the table before quietly taking their leave.

Their sole responsibility was to protect He Xieyu and his wife, and they had no intention of involving themselves in his personal matters.

When the house was quiet once again, Grandma and Grandpa Feng sat together in the living room, looking at the expensive gifts piled up in front of them.

They thought that if they found her, they could repair their broken family. They did have a great dream, but unfortunately, fate said otherwise.

Their grandson's mother has married another man and even has a daughter. There was no way she would remarry their son and abandon them.

At this mont, they don't know what kind of future they will face, and they can only wait silently for their grandson to return.

anwhile, Feng Lin and Dong Huang sat beneath a tree by the riverside.

Feng Lin gazed silently at the blue sky, lost in thought, while Dong Huang watched him with worry clear in her eyes. She could imagine his pain—if her brother were to vanish for five years without a word, she doubted she could forgive him either.

Seeing how sad he seed, she scratched her head, searching for a way to lift his mood. Suddenly, her face lit up as she rembered how her mother had comforted her when she was sad.

Pulling out a fruit candy from her pocket, she unwrapped it and swiftly popped it into his mouth while saying, "My mother says that when you feel sad, eating sothing sweet can help."

Feng Lin was startled by her sudden action and turned to look at her. The sweet taste spread across his tongue, and the fruit's fragrance lingered in the air.

Noticing that he still seed down, Dong Huang asked, "Ah Lin, do you know why we should eat sweets when we are sad?"

Hearing this, Feng Lin shook his head and asked softly, "Why?"

"My mother says that when the world feels too bitter, a candy can sweeten your heart. We are just small people in this vast world. Since we can't change how bitter the world is, why not change our hearts instead?" Dong Huang said with a bright smile.

She spread her arms wide, her grin unwavering as she continued, "Even if we can't change the world, we can definitely change ourselves. Our fate is in our own hands. As long as you don't give up on yourself, you will never truly be alone."

Patting her chest firmly, she added cheerfully, "See? Even if your parents have a new family, you still have your grandparents, your friends, and !"

"I don't know about others, but I promise I will never abandon you. Ah Lin, I will be your family, so you will never be alone!"

Feng Lin stared at her, stunned by her words. Her bright eyes and warm smile left him montarily speechless. In that instant, the dark clouds in his heart seed to part.

She was right—he wasn't alone. He wasn't an unwanted child.

The sadness in his gaze lted away, replaced by newfound light. A soft smile appeared on his lips as he reached out and hugged her tightly. Holding her close, he murmured hoarsely, "Thank you, Xiao Huang. I will beco your family too. Even if the whole world abandons you one day, I will stand by your side and never leave you."

Hearing this, Dong Huang patted his back gently, and said seriously, "Ah Lin, we are best friends. Whenever you need , I will always be there. So don't be sad anymore. Let's go ho—your grandparents must be worried about you."

After a mont, Feng Lin nodded, feeling much lighter, and said with a smile, "Okay, I will listen to you."

"Good!"

Under the vast blue sky, the two of them held hands and walked back toward the Feng family's house.

Half an hour later, Feng Lin and Dong Huang reached the Feng family's house. Noticing that there were only Grandpa and Grandma Feng, Dong Huang was curious about where Feng Lin's mother went. But, noticing the heavy atmosphere in the house, she didn't ask.

As they stepped into the living room, she said, "Grandpa, Grandma, please don't bla Ah Lin."

When they heard this, Grandpa and Grandma Feng let out a sigh. Smiling at her, Grandpa Feng said, "Grandpa and Grandma won't bla Ah Lin."

Hearing this, Dong Huang was relieved and said, "Then, I will co visit again tomorrow, Grandpa."

"Okay, be careful on your way back ho," Grandpa Feng nodded with a smile.

Before leaving, Dong Huang reached into her pocket and placed all of her candies into Feng Lin's hands while saying, "Ah Lin, I will bring more candies for you tomorrow. Rember our promise, okay?"

Smiling at her, Feng Lin nodded and said, "Okay."

After she left, Feng Lin put all the candies into his schoolbag and said, "Grandpa, Grandma, I'm sorry for making you worry."

Grandma Feng sighed and asked, "Have you eaten?"

Seeing that his grandparents were not angry, Feng Lin nodded and said, "I have eaten at Xiao Huang's house. Brother Dong Li made stead eggs, braised eggplant, and egg fried rice for us."

Nodding at him, Grandma Feng said, "You must be tired. Go wash up and take a nap. We will talk after dinner."

Glancing at the things on the table, Feng Lin was calm and said, "I understand, Grandma."
