The chef was pleased by Lu Jueyu's words and nodded at her before he turned to leave. However, when he was about a ter away, he caught a tempting fragrance in the air. He took a deep breath, recognizing the aroma of scallion pancakes.
Turning back, he noticed the couple eating scallion pancakes along with stead buns. Feeling curious, he approached them again and said, "Excuse , Comrade."
Seeing the chef return, Li Chenmo asked, "Comrade, is there anything else?"
The chef was salivating at the sight of the golden-brown scallion pancakes. Licking his lips, he asked, "Comrade, where did you get these scallion pancakes?"
"They are made by my son," Li Chenmo replied before adding, "Are we not allowed to bring our own food here?"
The state-owned restaurant did have a rule about outside food. However, as long as custors ordered from the restaurant, bringing their own food was generally overlooked. The chef quickly assured him, "It's allowed."
Hearing this, Li Chenmo raised his eyebrows. His expression questioned why the chef had bothered them if it was permitted.
Noticing the unspoken question, the chef leaned closer and whispered, "Comrade, I was wondering if you would be willing to sell the recipe for your scallion pancakes?"
Li Chenmo's eyes turned cold the mont he heard his words. When he looked at the chef, he showed surprised and wary expressions as he asked, "Comrade, personal transactions are a cri. Are you sure you want to buy the recipe? Aren't you worried I might report you?"
The chef broke out in a cold sweat at his words, but he gritted his teeth and explained, "Comrade, I'm serious. You see the situation in this restaurant—we hardly have any custors now. If I can't et the monthly quota, I will lose my job."
"Most people co here for the cheapest dishes. I want to add more affordable options to the nu, but they can't just be random dishes. I have been thinking about this for months, but couldn't find any solution."
"It wasn't until now that I found the solution. Your scallion pancakes are golden-brown, appetizing, and fragrant. Even though they are no longer hot, they are still crispy."
"The raw materials of scallion pancakes are cheap, so the price is also very affordable. I'm confident that adding them to the nu will increase the restaurant's revenue. That's why I'm asking you."
After hearing his explanation, Li Chenmo looked at his wife and asked, "Wife, what do you think?"
The unique taste of their scallion pancakes wasn't due to the recipe but rather the ingredients they used and her space's lake water. Even if they gave the recipe, the chef wouldn't be able to replicate the sa flavor.
After a mont of consideration, Lu Jueyu replied, "Comrade, our family's scallion pancake recipe isn't very different from others. The real difference lies in the ingredients."
"My family grows our own vegetables, so the scallions are fresh and crunchy. We also use peanut oil to fry the pancakes, adding extra fragrance and enhancing the flavor. If you use low-quality ingredients, I don't think our recipe will make much of a difference."
The chef went silent for a mont before nodding and said, "I see. I always thought the problem was my recipe. Turns out, it's about the ingredients. After so many years working as a chef, I actually forget such a basic yet important aspect of cooking."
Gaining insight from the conversation, the chef was grateful. He bowed to Lu Jueyu and said, "Thank you for your guidance, Comrade. I have learned a lot. If you ever need help, feel free to find ."
"Comrade, I didn't do much—it's your own talent that helped you," Lu Jueyu replied embarrassedly.
She had no intention of helping him. She just wanted to avoid any problems that might co with selling the recipe.
After the chef left, they were finally able to enjoy their al. Since they had eaten breakfast earlier, Li Chenmo wasn't very hungry and mostly accompanied his wife.
As for Lu Jueyu, she ate the majority of the dishes. Normally, she would feel 70% full after half a bowl of rice and a few side dishes. But today, she ate two scallion pancakes, drank a bowl of egg drop soup, and finished half the other dishes but she only felt 70% full.
Looking at the plates with so food remaining, Li Chenmo asked in a good mood, "Wife, are you full?"
Nodding, Lu Jueyu rubbed her belly and said, "I'm about 70% full. Husband, help finish the rest. It wouldn't be good if I overate."
Hearing her words, warmth filled Li Chenmo's eyes as he tried to hold back his smiles. His wife is too cute!
He poured her a cup of warm water before finishing the rest of the dishes himself. It made him happy to see his wife eating more than usual. Though he adored her proportional figure, he thought it would feel even better to hug her if she gained a few kilograms.
Just imagining how soft and cuddly she might beco after gaining so weight made him feel excited. To avoid embarrassing himself in public, he quickly banished those thoughts and focused on the al.
After they finished their al, the two of them just stayed there and chatted. When she started to feel sleepy, Lu Jueyu checked her watch and said, "Husband, it's almost two hours. Should we go to the hospital now?"
Li Chenmo nodded and said, "Okay."
When they left the restaurant, Li Chenmo walked behind his wife. In case she felt dizzy, he would be able to support her as soon as possible.
After having her al, Lu Jueyu was in a good mood and no longer felt dizzy or nauseous. When they reached the doctor's office, there was no one waiting in the corridor.
Knocking on the door, Li Chenmo waited for a mont before a nurse opened it. Seeing that it was them, the nurse smiled and gestured for them to enter, "Comrade, please co in."
