Chapter 223: 223. Good heavens, Fa Hai wants to fight with Madam White Snake for Xu Xian.

Xiao Yan didn’t know what Taobao Theater ant, but it was obviously a place to hide. She quickly supported Han Li and followed the crowd into the theater.

Taobao Theater is a circular building that can accommodate three thousand spectators at the sa ti.

Tonight, the Heavenly Sword Sect’s theater troupe is performing two stage plays that they’ve been rehearsing for several months: Journey to the West and The Legend of White Snake.

Tickets went on sale this morning, but initial sales weren’t ideal. Many cultivators didn’t understand what a stage play was and thought it was an opera performance.

By the evening, more people who had nothing to do started buying tickets and entering.

After Xiao Yan and Han Li bought their tickets and entered, they found the theater to be very spacious, with rows of seats filled with people beneath the stage.

The stage play obviously hadn’t started yet, so Xiao Yan and Han Li quickly found a spot to hide.

At this ti, the backstage of the theater was bustling. The troupe mbers were all very nervous, even though they had rehearsed countless tis before; this was their first ti performing in front of an audience.

Yu Qing and Xuan Ling also hurriedly ca over from the square. The first play, The Legend of White Snake, required the two to be on stage.

The original plan was for the Heavenly Sword Sect’s senior mbers and guest celebrities to watch the celebration and then co to see the show. However, the arena competition was too intense and didn’t end after a whole day.

They couldn’t wait any longer and had to start first, at least performing again if needed.

Yu Qing and Xuan Ling hurriedly changed into their costus, becoming the white-clad White Snake and the righteous cultivator Fa Hai.

Fang Zhou portrayed the honest Xu Xian. Together, the three ford a perfect triangle.

Months of rehearsals went smoothly, and Fang Zhou originally thought Xuan Ling would stir up trouble, but she had been surprisingly cooperative and well-behaved.

Yu Qing even thought her junior sister Xuan Ling had changed, finally feeling at ease.

“Don’t be nervous, just follow the rehearsal steps as usual. Imagine the audience as a bunch of self-moving cucumbers.”

Fang Zhou encouraged the two, and Yu Qing couldn’t help but laugh at Fang Zhou’s curious analogy.

Xuan Ling also gave Fang Zhou a deep smile.

Seeing her aningful smile, Fang Zhou’s heart sank.

Oh crap, are you really going to stir trouble at this mont? Please no.

Unfortunately, ti waited for no one, and the music on stage had already started.

“Could it be that that one glance in the previous life was only to et in this life…”

“Ah~~”

“Ah~~”

“Rushing through the dream, helpless against fate!”

“Love deeply with no regrets!”

Beautiful music and the singing of n and won suddenly echoed in the theater, and the audience who was whispering instantly quieted down.

This was a song that sounded strange at first, but upon careful listening, it was very beautiful, completely different from the various singing styles prevalent in the world today.

The curtain on the stage also slowly opened, revealing a misty beautiful scene of West Lake, with willow trees swaying in the wind, lotus flowers blooming in the lake, and red carp swimming with the water waves.

On the Broken Bridge across West Lake, many pedestrians were walking.

The audience was stunned by this realistic scene, but as cultivators, they quickly realized that this miraculous scene on the stage was probably caused by so kind of magic treasure.

It was indeed a magic treasure. Fang Zhou originally wanted to borrow the illusion used in the entry-level trials of the Heavenly Sword Sect to provide the audience with an imrsive visual experience.

The Heavenly Sword Sect refused to agree since the illusion was extrely valuable to them and couldn’t be used for entertainnt.

In the end, Fang Zhou settled for a downgraded version of the illusion magic treasure. It couldn’t pull people into the illusion, but it could display the scenery from the illusion.

This downgraded illusion was installed in Taobao Theater to provide realistic scenery for the stage.

With the music, Xu Xian and the White Snake appeared. They t on the Broken Bridge, where the White Snake dropped her hairpin, Xu Xian accidentally picked it up, and the two thus got to know each other.

Yu Qing was very nervous at first, but months of hard practice didn’t go to waste, and she easily completed the first scene.

The audience found it very novel. They had only seen operas before, and had never seen such natural dialog without the sing-song of traditional opera.

The first scene quickly ended, and the second scene began with the scenery transforming into a deep mountain forest.

The second scene started to introduce the origins of the White Snake, and the past entanglent with Xu Xian.

Here, Fang Zhou made significant modifications, referencing an animated movie watched in a previous life to design the relationship between Xu Xian and the White Snake as more intricate and tragic.

The audience was deeply engrossed and captivated. Xiao Yan and Han Li, who had co in to hide from the Demon Sect, also forgot about the danger, unable to recognize Fang Zhou who had changed his face.

Those from the Demon Sect who ca in to chase Xiao Yan and Han Li were also captivated by the performance on stage, forgetting to search for Xiao Yan and Han Li.

The third scene depicted the daily life after Xu Xian and the White Snake got married, filled with warmth and sweetness, while the White Snake resolved many dangers and troubles for Xu Xian.

The first three scenes portrayed the love between Xu Xian and the White Snake. Here, Fang Zhou covertly inserted so personal twists into the plot to make the marital relationship between Xu Xian and the White Snake appear equal, without any hierarchy.

The audience didn’t notice much, even if they found it sowhat inappropriate, there wasn’t a strong aversion.

Just as the audience thought The Legend of White Snake was a pure love story, the climax of the fourth scene began. The justice-seeking cultivator Fa Hai made her first appearance.

Here, Fang Zhou designed Fa Hai’s character to be Xu Xian’s elder sister, who had been away for years to practice cultivation. Upon her return, she instantly saw through her sister-in-law, the White Snake, as a demon.

Fa Hai believed her brother had been deceived by a demon. Vowing to fight evil, she thought humans and demons could not coexist, and their marriage was even more outrageous. Thus, she decided to exterminate the demon and save her brother.

The audience’s hearts were tightened. Many impatient viewers cursed angrily, “Why is this nosy Fa Hai ddling in their loving marriage? Does this affect her life in any way?”

Fa Hai pretended not to know, recognized Xu Xian as her brother, and lulled the White Snake’s vigilance. Then she found a chance to lead Xu Xian away, confronting the White Snake alone, planning to subdue the Snake Demon.

At this mont, sensing sothing was wrong, Xu Xian returned, standing between the two, questioning why Fa Hai was doing this.

According to the rehearsed plot, Fa Hai should explain the reasoning behind humans and demons not being able to coexist, then Xu Xian would angrily retort that Fa Hai didn’t understand love.

However, at this mont, Fa Hai gave Xu Xian a look mixed with disappointnt and sorrow, and said passionately, “Xian’er, could it be that you really don’t understand my feelings for you?”

White Snake was bewildered, and Xu Xian was even more shocked. Damn, I knew this drama queen would stir trouble!

The audience was in an uproar. What was happening?

Could it be that Fa Hai wanted to vie for Xu Xian with the White Snake?
