Rue’s threat in the Legislative Assembly sowhat made Shang Jia’nie lose face. When did the lapdogs of the House of Bonaparte beco so impudent with him?
"I believe the Legislative Assembly can grant justice and fairness!" Shang Jia’nie pinned his hopes on the Permanent Committee, hoping to leverage it against Jero Bonaparte.
The Permanent Committee did not disappoint Shang Jia’nie’s expectations. In terms of creating an atmosphere, the committee of over a hundred was always more effective than the "lone" Bonaparte Faction.
The Permanent Committee greeted Shang Jia’nie with enthusiastic applause, signaling their support to Rue.
Shang Jia’nie smiled again, maintaining an arrogant stance as he gazed at Rue.
Seeing the clowns of the Permanent Committee in the audience, Rue also smiled. After slightly bowing to the attending mbers, he said, "I look forward to the Legislative Assembly making a fair and strict judgnt!"
Having said that, Rue stepped down from the podium and left the Bourbon Palace.
On September 28, the public opinion manipulated by the Bonaparte Faction further fernted and expanded, gradually spreading from the civilian population to the military.
Not to ntion the Paris Second Brigade and Third Brigade already controlled by Jero Bonaparte, even the soldiers of the Paris First Brigade began to lose trust in Shang Jia’nie.
Brigadier General Norman, commanding the First Brigade, gradually felt a sense of helplessness as the thoughts of the First Brigade soldiers started aligning with the Second Brigade and Third Brigade.
Not only the soldiers, but even the junior officers of the First Brigade were actively moving closer to the Second Brigade and Third Brigade, unwilling to stand firm without the soldiers’ support.
Just as Brigadier General Norman was about to go to the Tuileries Palace to report the situation to General Shang Jia’nie, an order from the Ministry of War arrived.
"Brigadier General Norman!" The one delivering the order was still Troche, who now held the rank of Colonel.
"Colonel Troche!" Brigadier General Norman looked at this Bonaparte Faction Colonel, realizing he might be facing a change.
"The President and the Minister hope you can fulfill your duties and serve as a capable French General! Shang Jia’nie’s actions have seriously violated the law, do not beco too entangled with him!" Troche conveyed Minister Reniao’s orders to Norman.
Minister Reniao’s words convinced Brigadier General Norman that this was a military coup against General Shang Jia’nie, with the President likely intending to remove Shang Jia’nie’s influence in the military.
Thinking of this, Brigadier General Norman showed a bitter smile, slowly looking at Troche, "Colonel Troche, may I ask what General Shang Jia’nie’s fate will be?"
"Shang Jia’nie will be dismissed by the President and then reassigned elsewhere!" Troche told Brigadier General Norman.
Poor General, he probably does not know what he is about to face!
At that mont, Brigadier General Norman mourned his superior far away in the Tuileries Palace.
"Brigadier General Norman, do you choose to follow the Ministry of War’s orders or refuse!" Troche asked again, knowing Norman’s response would determine his fate.
"I..." Brigadier General Norman said with difficulty, "I resolutely obey the Ministry of War’s directive!"
"Brigadier General, you have made a wise decision!" Troche allowed a smile to appear on his previously tense face, then took out another commission and said to Brigadier General Norman, "Now, by Minister Reniao’s order, I will serve as your Chief of Staff!"
"Chief of Staff? Is this a disguised takeover?" Brigadier General Norman bluntly asked Troche.
"Of course not!" Troche shrugged and explained, "In the future, every army will be equipped with a Chief of Staff whose job is to deliver orders from the General Staff and assist you in completing tasks laid out by the General Staff!"
"General Staff? After so many years, is the Emperor bringing that back up?" Brigadier General Norman asked calmly.
"This General Staff will be much more extensive than in the Emperor’s ti!" Troche smiled aningfully, "After all, there is only one Emperor!"
Norman looked at Troche’s smile in surprise and remarked, "Indeed! There is only one Emperor!"
With that, Brigadier General Norman extended his hand to Troche, "Colonel Troche, welco to the First Brigade!"
Troche and Norman’s hands clasped tightly. Thus, under Minister Reniao’s blend of grace and power, the Paris First Brigade was settled, and no army would aid Shang Jia’nie at this critical mont.
hours passed quickly, and Rue once again arrived at the Bourbon Palace.
"Honorable mbers of the Legislative Assembly, what is the result of your deliberations?" Rue asked respectfully, addressing the mbers of the Legislative Assembly.
The mbers of the Legislative Assembly cast their votes against Rue after a brief discussion.
Over a hundred votes against nullified the possibility of reviewing Changarnier’s suspension. Seeing the votes against, Rue showed no excessive emotions and still courteously told the legislators, "Since you believe in him, then let’s hope Changarnier is true to his word."
Amid the puzzled expressions of the mbers of the Permanent Committee, Rue left the Bourbon Palace.
That night, Jero Bonaparte, in his capacity as President, convened the Cabinet mbers at the Matignon Palace.
As Jero Bonaparte had neither publicized the event nor communicated with others, apart from Minister Renio, Minister Rue, and Minister Barroso, the other ministers were unaware of Jero Bonaparte’s next move.
After Pri Minister Opler and the ministers took their seats, Jero Bonaparte announced to them: I am going to dismiss Changarnier.
Upon hearing this, Pri Minister Opler, Minister of Education and Religion Pariou, Minister of the Navy Deco... all showed expressions of surprise. Those aware of the conflict between the President and Changarnier certainly understood that the peace between the President and Changarnier would not last long. However, the President’s specific choice to dismiss during the recess period was beyond their expectations.
"Do you have anything to say?" Jero Bonaparte asked, looking towards Opler and others.
"Mr. President, shouldn’t you delay for a mont!" Pri Minister Opler suggested to Jero Bonaparte, not wanting to play an inglorious role in the conflict between the President and the Assembly.
"Don’t worry, Mr. Pri Minister, I respect your principles. After this is over, you will beco the Governor of Algeria!" Jero Bonaparte said unabashedly,.
Then he looked at the Bonaparte Faction ministers present and encouraged, "Does anyone else here have any ideas they wish to express?"
None of the ministers present spoke, as they were well aware of the President’s unwavering resolve.
After scanning the room, Jero Bonaparte once again spoke after waiting a while: "Since no one objects, then let’s have the entire Cabinet sign the dismissal order together!"
Jero Bonaparte clapped his hands, and Valerovsky entered the room and presented each person with a printed "Dismissal Order."
After the Pri Minister and ministers each signed their nas, Jero Bonaparte then commanded Valerovsky to collect the "Dismissal Order."
"Good! In that case, it’s unanimous from the entire Cabinet!" Jero Bonaparte said with a smile as he sorted through the "Dismissal Order" in his hand.
On September 29th, Jero Bonaparte delivered the final ultimatum to Changarnier with the "Dismissal Order" signed by the entire Cabinet.
The "Notice" sternly commanded Changarnier to revoke all positions by October 2nd and move out of the Tuileries Palace, or else Changarnier would be forcibly retired.
anwhile, Minister of War Renio also issued combat readiness orders to the entire army, stating that under combat readiness conditions, no troops could act without orders, and all matters, big or small, must be reported to the Ministry of War.
Minister Renio’s tactics completely curtailed Changarnier’s attempt to use the army for a last-ditch effort. When he hurriedly left the Tuileries Palace for the First Brigade, he was inford that the First Brigade would only follow orders from the Ministry of War and that Commander Shangjia Ren no longer held any legal authority.
A defeated Changarnier returned disheartened to the Tuileries Palace. Walking through the deep corridors, Changarnier felt an emptiness. He didn’t know when his soul was locked by the Tuileries Palace, deceived by Bonaparte’s sweet words.
The once dazzling gold and silver artifacts in Changarnier’s eyes had now turned dull and dusty.
"Has this place beco my burial ground?" Changarnier’s heart grew even more desolate.
He sat silently in the living room, believing that Jero Bonaparte’s dismissal letter would soon arrive.
That night, the Legislative Assembly, led by Montalambert and Audion Barrot, ca to the Elysee Palace intending to persuade Jero Bonaparte to retract his order.
When they arrived at the Elysee Palace’s living room, they found Jero Bonaparte already waiting for their arrival.
"Welco, mbers!" Jero Bonaparte greeted the legislators of the Order Faction with a smile.
After a brief exchange, Audion Barrot delicately said, "Mr. President, you shouldn’t remove Changarnier at this mont! It will lead to unnecessary unrest!"
"Unrest! I don’t think so! It’s Changarnier remaining in the army that’s the source of unrest!" Jero Bonaparte didn’t give Audion Barrot any face and imdiately refuted.
"Mr. President, can you delay the dismissal of Changarnier! Wait until the Assembly resus, then exercise your power!" Montalambert continued to dissuade.
"Mr. Montalambert, as President, giving the dismissal order to the Ministry of War doesn’t require the Assembly’s approval, does it?" Jero Bonaparte attacked Montalambert with the Constitution.
Montalambert remained silent.
