After the butler left Victor Emmanuel II’s room, he went to the stables to order the carriage to be prepared. Upon returning from the stables, he saw Victor Emmanuel II and Jero Bonaparte deep in conversation.
The butler paused and quietly waited for Jero Bonaparte and Victor Emmanuel II to finish their talk.
After a while, Victor Emmanuel II nodded to Jero Bonaparte, seemingly agreeing to sothing, then he looked at the butler, signaling him to co over.
Seeing this, the butler hurried to Victor Emmanuel II and Jero Bonaparte, "Your Majesties!"
"Jero asked you to prepare the carriage, how is it going?" Victor Emmanuel II asked the butler.
"Your Majesty, the carriage is ready!" the butler replied to Victor Emmanuel II.
"Good then!" Victor Emmanuel nodded again, and turned to Jero Bonaparte, "Jero, since you insist on going out, I won’t force you to stay here!
But you must agree to one condition!"
"What condition?" Jero Bonaparte asked Victor Emmanuel II.
"I heard that when you were in France, you liked traveling incognito alone!
But in the Sardinian Kingdom, you must bring along a group of soldiers to ensure your safety, only then will I be at ease!" Victor Emmanuel II said seriously to Jero Bonaparte, "After all, the security in the Sardinian Kingdom is far different from Paris!"
Having pondered for a mont, Jero Bonaparte nodded in agreent with Victor Emmanuel II’s opinion.
Subsequently, under the butler’s guidance, Jero Bonaparte got into the carriage.
After a while, a team of cavalry dressed in Sardinian military attire surrounded Jero Bonaparte’s carriage. They were specially arranged by Victor Emmanuel II to protect Jero Bonaparte.
Once the Sardinian cavalry was all in place, the butler standing outside the carriage asked Jero Bonaparte inside, "Your Majesty, where to?"
Jero Bonaparte responded indifferently, "The French Embassy!"
The butler was slightly taken aback, then closed the carriage door and told the coachman, "French Embassy!"
The coachman nodded slightly, then gently waved his whip, and the carriage slowly departed, only vanishing from the butler’s sight long after he returned.
Just after returning to the Turin Royal Palace, the butler was again called over by Victor Emmanuel II, who asked, "Jero, what was his first stop?"
"Your Majesty, His Majesty Jero Bonaparte’s first stop was the French Embassy!" the butler replied to Victor Emmanuel II.
"The French Embassy?" Victor Emmanuel II slightly frowned and muttered to himself, "What is he doing at the embassy?"
After a mont, Victor Emmanuel II found himself smiling bitterly and muttering to himself again, "Forget it! It doesn’t matter!"
On the other hand.
Jero Bonaparte, in the carriage, took nearly half an hour to reach the gate of the French Embassy, escorted by the Sardinian cavalry team.
The soldier guarding the gate hurried into the embassy to report to the French Envoy upon seeing such an imposing cavalry team.
Lying on the bed, the French Envoy was quickly awakened by two soldiers. He groggily listened to the report, and imdiately regained clarity.
At this mont, the French Envoy realized the person arriving at the embassy must be His Majesty Jero Bonaparte, as Victor Emmanuel II would not co to the French Embassy at this ti.
"Quick! Inform everyone in the embassy to assemble!" the French Envoy, while frowning at his pajamas, ordered the people around him.
The just-awoken military attendant, still in pajamas, entered the French Envoy’s room, yawning and asking, "What’s wrong?"
"His Majesty is here!" the French Envoy replied to the military attendant with a frown.
Upon hearing this, the military attendant also beca alert and widened his eyes to inquire again, "Say it again! Who is here!"
"His Majesty is here!" the French Envoy said again, slightly displeased, "He should be at the gate now!"
"Then... should we..." The military attendant glanced at his pajamas, feeling it inappropriate to go out in them.
"Hurry and change your clothes!" the French Envoy commanded the military attendant.
"Okay! I’ll go now!" The military attendant left the French Envoy’s room hastily.
"You two, too! Quickly go and notify everyone to welco His Majesty!" The French Envoy pointed to the soldiers and said.
The two soldiers also left, while sitting on the bed, the French Envoy silently grumbled about Jero Bonaparte, then quickly went to the wardrobe to take out a set of black formal wear, changing into it.
anwhile, Jero Bonaparte had already alighted from the carriage and arrived at the embassy’s entrance.
Looking at the tightly closed embassy door, Jero Bonaparte furrowed his brows, then gently knocked on the embassy’s door.
After only a few seconds, the embassy door slowly opened, and a soldier opened the door, looking slightly nervous as he gazed at Jero Bonaparte, saying, "You... Your Majesty!"
"What’s going on with you?" Jero Bonaparte reprimanded loudly, "Why is the embassy’s door closed? Do you know that by doing this, you cause great trouble for those who want to co here to conduct business!
If I hadn’t co to knock, I might have thought the French Embassy was closed! (Actually, embassies in the 19th century didn’t conduct many businesses)"
"Your Majesty... this... it is indeed our fault! We will definitely correct it!" The soldier answered Jero Bonaparte, lowering his head.
"Forget it! Let’s not talk about this! Is your ambassador in the embassy?" Jero Bonaparte asked the soldier again.
"He is!" The soldier hurriedly responded to Jero Bonaparte.
"Take to see him!" Jero Bonaparte ordered the soldier.
"This..." The soldier showed a hesitant expression, knowing very well that the French ambassador hadn’t changed his clothes yet, and having the Emperor see him now was practically setting the ambassador up for trouble.
"What’s the matter?" Jero Bonaparte frowned again, speaking with a displeased tone.
"No... nothing!" The soldier stamred.
Looking at the soldier before him, Jero Bonaparte was certain sothing must be wrong.
"Since there’s nothing, then take over there!" Jero Bonaparte urged the soldier once more.
The soldier stepped aside, allowing Jero Bonaparte to enter the embassy.
"Welco, Your Majesty!"
As soon as Jero Bonaparte entered the embassy, he heard a welcoming voice in his ear. He glanced at the rows of embassy servants and clerks, and waved his hand to them, saying, "You all go about your own business!"
The servants and clerks quickly left after hearing Jero Bonaparte’s command.
Jero Bonaparte looked at the soldier again and said, "Quickly take to see your ambassador!"
"Yes!" Seeing no way to disobey Jero Bonaparte, the soldier braced himself and led Jero Bonaparte upstairs.
When Jero Bonaparte reached the staircase, the French ambassador happened to appear at the staircase.
"Your Majesty!" The French ambassador respectfully responded to Jero Bonaparte.
"Are you the ambassador of this embassy?" Jero Bonaparte asked the French ambassador.
"Your Majesty, my na is Victor Fein Rod, appointed by Minister De Luyss himself as the ambassador!!" Ambassador Victor respectfully introduced himself to Jero Bonaparte.
Jero Bonaparte looked Victor up and down, suddenly noticing that Ambassador Victor had put on the wrong shoes.
"Just got up, I see!" Jero Bonaparte said flatly to Ambassador Victor.
Ambassador Victor was stunned for a mont, instinctively wanting to deny it, but as he took a few steps forward, his foot seed to get caught by sothing, and he stumbled forward.
Jero Bonaparte quickly stepped forward to support Ambassador Victor, calmly reminding him, "Ambassador Victor, your shoes are on the wrong foot!"
Ambassador Victor then realized the issue with his shoes and hurriedly looked down at them.
Sure enough, because he left the bedroom in a hurry, he ended up with his boots on the wrong feet.
No wonder it was so uncomfortable to move earlier!
"Indeed, Your Majesty, I just got up!" Ambassador Victor could only respond to Jero Bonaparte with a wry smile.
"Let’s go!" Jero Bonaparte was about to turn and go downstairs when he suddenly realized Ambassador Victor was wearing boots that could easily cause him to twist his ankle. He felt that if Victor went downstairs wearing those boots, he would definitely fall!
So, Jero Bonaparte stopped and suggested to Ambassador Victor, "Let’s talk in your bedroom instead!"
With Jero Bonaparte’s support, Ambassador Victor and Jero Bonaparte headed to the bedroom.
Later, sitting on the sofa, Ambassador Victor asked Jero Bonaparte seriously if there were any instructions for his visit this ti.
"I would like to borrow your embassy’s telegraph room to send a telegram to our Vienna Embassy," Jero Bonaparte responded to Ambassador Victor, "The content of the telegram is to hope Franz Joseph can visit the Apennine Peninsula soon to mutually discuss a prudent handling plan for the Apennine Peninsula!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Ambassador Victor solemnly replied to Jero Bonaparte.
