"Must be tough, having such a babe stuck to you but you can’t make any moves on her," Franco spoke in a wistful tone. "Can’t say I envy you."

"Tell about it," Mark replied.

"I for one am really jealous." Alex leaned back into the bench. "I would die to have such a cute maid calling her master."

"Just to be clear, if either of you get any funny ideas, I’m killing you on the spot."

Franco and Alex exchanged looks and burst out laughing a second later.

The smoker was the first to realize what the new guy said wasn’t a joke, and once he did, the smile instantly disappeared from his face.

"Calm down, brother." He held his hands up defensively. "Nobody is going after your maids."

Alex, a little slow on the take, continued to laugh for a while before shaking his head.

"I do admit she’s cute but... I prefer won with bi-"

The rest of his words were swallowed by the air blasting right beside his face. An instant later, sothing exploded a few ters behind the bench where they were sitting, shaking the ground slightly.

Only Franco leaned away from the explosion. Mark and Alex were petrified, not daring to move a single inch. The forr had blood drained from his face so much that he turned blue. The latter still had a smile on his face, but from the looks of it, his soul had already left its shell.

A dozen ters away, Elya rotated her shoulder and scoffed.

"Idiots." She said. "Always thinking with their junk."

The maid beside her was stunned, her eyes wide open as she looked at the petite girl. They were talking normally when she suddenly produced a sword out of thin air and flung it at the n. The motion was fast and swift, leaving Lara no ti to react.

"Calm down, I know how to aim," Elya spoke with a frown. "Or did you want to hit him?"

"Please refrain from such actions in the future." Lara’s agitated voice showed her displeasure about what had just occurred.

The lingering resentnt in her heart said there would be no problem if the Peace Keeper misfired. Nevertheless, with her contract on the line, she couldn’t afford to have any harm befall her master.

"Alright, alright. Sheesh, I just thought I would teach them a lesson."

Elya sighed and shook her head. The silence that followed was brief, and after giving her a side glance, the petite Peace Keeper asked with so concern in her voice.

"Seriously though, are you really okay? If I understood this right, you’re stuck with him until either of you dies, is that it?"

"No." Lara shook her head. "I do have the liberty to terminate the contract whenever I want."

"Then why not just end it? Start over with a better master."

"I’m afraid that is not an option." The maid shook her head. "If I choose to end things here, there is no guarantee that I will receive another summon right after."

"Uwah... that gotta suck..."

"Indeed." The maid sighed softly.

"Don’t worry, if he dares to do it again just let handle it." Elya grinned and held a thumb up. "Crushing his nuts will do the trick."

"Please do not," Lara replied quickly.

Laughing a little, Elya then heaved a long sigh. After a mont of silence, her eyes drifted toward the maid and she began looking her up and down.

"Say, this isn’t your original body, right?" She asked.

The question prompted Lara to look down at herself before she answered.

"Indeed. It is based on Master’s creation, after all."

"Is there... is there anything you don’t like about it? Anything other than being half a vampire, of course."

"I... I do not believe there is..." Lara said after a mont of thought.

"Is that so..." Staring at her so more, the Peace Keeper sighed wistfully. "To be honest, I’m reaaaaly jealous of you."

Confused by her statent, Lara tilted her head a little. Before she could ask, the petite girl gave her the reason.

"You are tall, have a nice style, and you’re super cute. I bet you won’t have any trouble with guys." Looking up with a start, she furrowed her brows apologetically. "Sorry, I didn’t an it in a bad way."

Lara remained silent for a few seconds then shook her head.

"It is fine. I do understand your intentions." A gorgeous smile blood on her lips. "And I have to say, you are quite cute yourself, Specialist Martin. I am confident Specialist Mahone will eventually see your charm."

"That blockhead? Nope. Not happening." Elya shook her head. "And please, just call Elya. It’s nice to finally have another girl on the team so let’s be friends."

"Understood."

"Heeeey!" As soon as Lara replied, one of the guys called out to them. "We are moving to the next Rift! Hurry up already!"

Alex was waving at them from beside the armored truck. His cheerfulness and enthusiasm were back as if he hadn’t almost lost his head a couple of minutes ago.

"See?" Elya pointed at him, disappointnt taking over her face as she turned to the maid. "This is what I have to deal with."

"He certainly seems to be quite slow on the uptake," Lara comnted. "Maybe he requires a clearer sign." She turned to the female Peace Keeper and spoke with utmost seriousness. "Have you tried biting his neck?"

Elya opened her mouth to reply only for the shock to halt her words. As the silence lingered, Lara closed her eyes and added in the sa serious tone.

"That was a joke, Specialist Martin."

Realizing what had just happened, the Peace Keeper let out a relieved sigh then replied with a smile.

"I already told you, just call Elya."

The five were using the truck Natalie lent Mark to move around the city. Franco volunteered to drive, but before they could depart Ramsay and Ben returned.

There was a slight change of plans, and when he heard the Sergeant’s explanation, more weight was added to the pile crushing down on Mark.
