Chapter 926: Mini Monster?
Chapter 926
The door creaked open and subsequently closed with that sa distinctive groan, revealing nothing but a vast, open expanse.
An empty training chamber stretched out before Grey and Jesse, stripped of every anity that could potentially soften the environnt.
The walls stood bare and lifeless, painted in a dull shade of grey that seed to swallow any warmth the light attempted to offer.
There were no markings, no decorations—just smooth, unbroken surfaces that made the emptiness feel deliberate and stark.
Their footsteps echoed the mont they stepped inside.
The sound lingered longer than it should have, bouncing off the hollow walls and returning to them like a quiet reminder of how alone they were in the room.
The floor beneath them was cold and unyielding, polished to a faint sheen but scarred with subtle streaks and scuffs—silent evidence of past training sessions that had long since concluded.
Overhead, a row of fluorescent lights humd faintly, casting a harsh, sterile glow that left no corner in shadow.
It wasn’t bright in a comforting way; it was the kind of light that exposed everything, leaving nowhere to hide.
And in that room, Grey had just done sothing he never imagined he would do... ever.
He had unleashed a jagged bolt of lightning directly at Jesse.
"Aaaaaargh!" The girl scread for a brief second before her survival instinct kicked in, and she dove to the side almost imdiately.
She moved just in ti, as the bolt slamd into her previous position, sending sparks of electricity flying in every direction.
Rolling back to her feet, Jesse glared at Grey with wide, fearful eyes.
"Brother GREY! What are you do—"
Before her words could be completed, another lightning bolt was already streaking toward her.
The girl quickly launched backward, avoiding the projectile by the skin of her teeth.
"What happened? Why aren’t you attacking back?!" Grey asked, his gaze filled with a mocking intensity.
Twirling his wrist, flas blazed around his palm.
He hauled the fire toward the girl, sending a searing fireball rushing her way.
Jesse imdiately kicked off the ground, vaulting into the air and dodging the orb smoothly.
The attack crashed into her previous spot, almost burning through the reinforced floor.
Landing a ter away, Jesse gritted her teeth in a state of utter confusion.
’What is Brother Grey doing? Why is he attacking ?’
"Co on now! Aren’t you a Dawn?! Why are you being a scaredy-cat? Attack! I know you have it in you!" Grey bellowed angrily as a wind sword swooshed forward.
Jesse’s eyes widened imdiately as she was forced to duck under the wind blade, which crashed into the wall behind her.
Grey’s attacks weren’t moving slowly; they were all incredibly fast.
They were blistering in their speed, yet Jesse continued to evade them.
She avoided so with such ease it was as if she possessed superspeed or so hidden trait.
But that made no sense.
Grey had never seen a mage utilize such velocity before.
Unless they were specifically a wind or lightning mage, they could not move with that level of quickness.
However, Jesse wasn’t augnting herself with elents, so how was she doing it?
Kicking his leg from below into the air, a massive earth spike shot toward Jesse’s face while she was still in her bent posture.
Slamming her palms into the ground, the girl launched herself off the floor and leaped forward.
Simultaneously, the spike whooshed past her and struck the surface a short distance away.
"Jesse doesn’t want to attack Brother Grey. So stop attacking Jesse!"
Grey smiled as he saw the girl land perfectly.
She was panting softly, and her golden eyes held a strange, shimring sheen to them.
The mage tilted his head, his expression shifting into a mocking smirk.
"Why? Because you are too weak to do anything? What else can you even do other than to bawl like a child?! Will you just keep waiting for
to co save you each and every single ti?" Grey challenged, tightening his jaw while glaring at her.
Jesse froze.
The words struck her deeply; she looked into the mage’s eyes, wondering if this was truly her brother speaking such harsh truths.
"... Each and every single ti, you wait for soone to co rescue you! Why can’t you stand up for yourself for once? I’m attacking you and all you do is dodge. If this were an enemy standing in front of you instead of , is this how you would behave?"
Grey sighed tiredly and shook his head before turning around to face the door.
"Man... this is hopeless, to be honest. You will just be a weak kid no matter what I do."
Grey took a single step forward, but then he suddenly froze.
His gaze narrowed as he felt sothing fundantally shift within the air.
"Why? Why? Why did Brother Grey have to talk to Jesse like that? WHY?!"
Spinning around imdiately, the mage’s eyes widened.
He could see his sister’s eyes glowing a brilliant, blinding golden.
Pure light began to coalesce around her hands, causing his brows to furrow in alarm.
"Light Magic; Divine Sword of Punishnt!"
’Wait! Light Magic? Isn’t that Li... oh shoot!’
A massive sword forged from concentrated light imdiately materialized within the room.
Before Grey could even finish his train of thought, the weapon hauled toward him with lethal velocity.
BANG—!
The sound barrier cracked within the training chamber as the blade hurtled forward with blazing speed.
The suddenness of the assault forced Grey to dive to the side.
He moved with everything he had, but unfortunately, he wasn’t quite fast enough.
The edge of the light sword grazed his neck, causing a thin trail of blood to trickle out.
BANG—!
The sword smashed into the reinforced door, blasting the entire structure off its hinges, while the mage was forced to roll across the ground from his tily evasion.
"Haaa.... Haaa.... Haaaa...."
Jesse’s heavy panting echoed in the silence, her eyes still radiating that terrifying glow.
Grey rose to his full height, a wide, uncontainable smile spreading across his face.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
"Beautiful! Hahahaha! My sister is a mini monster now!" He cheered enthusiastically, even as blood dripped down from his cheek.
At that mont, Jesse stopped panting.
The intense glow in her eyes settled back down as realization dawned on her.
Looking at the destroyed door and then at the crimson cut on her brother’s face, her eyes imdiately grew moist.
She dashed toward him with imnse speed.
"I’m sorry, Brother Grey!"
