Chapter 768: Divulging Information (1)

Chapter 768

The mont the call was made, the group could be seen making their way out of the portal.

They now stood before it and, without hesitation, stepped through, exiting the beast world.

And right in front of them were the n guarding the portal.

Seeing the Crimson Lotus Clan mbers erging with extra people and no more individuals coming out afterward, the n lifted their brows in visible confusion.

"What’s going on? Where are the others?"

Alba stepped forward and explained what had happened by lying, using the excuse Grey had co up with the other ti.

She stated that the boss class beast had been accidentally summoned, and from there, a massacre occurred, leaving all the others dead while they barely escaped with their lives after managing to kill the beast.

The n were skeptical about her words.

It seed they didn’t believe her as they stared at her from head to toe, their gazes sharp and probing.

They then turned toward the others behind her, giving each of them a thorough scan.

Before they could say anything further, the portal snapped shut with a loud buzz, finally centing the fact that the boss class beast was truly dead.

Which gave a bit of credibility to Alba’s story.

The only lingering confusion was how several dozen n had died inside the beast land.

If they had encountered a boss class beast, they should have been sensible enough to flee, right?

But with nobody stepping forward to counter the story and no surviving witnesses to say otherwise, they had no choice but to discharge the group, albeit warily.

With that settled, they boarded a carriage and moved away from the area after paying the n their ’tithe’ from the beast cores they had gathered. It was mandatory, and they knew better than to refuse.

Half an hour later, the carriage rolled to a stop in front of the Crimson Lotus Clan’s newly established main base.

After paying the driver, they all walked in calmly.

The place... Grey hadn’t had the ti to properly scan the surroundings earlier due to the rush surrounding the portal.

But now, he surveyed it carefully.

Judging from the exterior and now the interior, the base appeared to be two stories tall with two distinct levels.

Several doors lined the corridor on the lower floor, seemingly leading to different sections of the base.

According to Ash, who had written to Grey a few weeks ago, the lower level housed various facilities ranging from a personal bar where the clan mbers relaxed, a few training rooms, a kitchen, a dining hall, and a eting room.

While the upper floor contained their personal rooms— a place ant strictly for rest.

About eight rooms occupied the upper level, with every mber having their own space and still an extra room left afterward.

Where they currently stood was the hallway on the lower level, having just entered monts ago.

"I feel we should all go freshen up before we begin anything," Alba suggested as she glanced around the room.

Several nods followed as they acknowledged her words.

With that, everyone split up, moving in different directions to wash off the exhaustion, gri, and blood from the battle they had been involved in just monts earlier.

Afterward, they grabbed sothing to eat and, as usual, went off in separate directions, choosing to chow down in peace.

The mont they were done, a few more minutes passed, and it was already past evening with the sky gradually getting darker.

That was when they all gathered in the eting room, which had a round table dominating the center of the space, with about ten chairs surrounding it.

No chair was higher than the others.

Everything was on the sa wavelength as everybody took their respective seats, including Grey and Fenrir, who sat across from the Supre Magus.

The room wasn’t that big—just a small space large enough to comfortably fit maybe twenty people.

The curtains had all been drawn aside, allowing cool air from outside to waft gently into the room.

A few lanterns dotted the area, bringing with them not just light, but warmth.

Everybody stared at each other, wondering how to begin and who should even be the one to start.

Until—

Grey cleared his throat while glancing at Fenrir with a sowhat calm look on his face.

He hadn’t forgotten the short conversation they had in the beast world.

The mage’s words had kept ringing in his head over and over again during the entirety of their journey back here.

Fenrir, catching the mage’s gaze, let out a sigh while scanning the room, his eyes briefly lingering on the other mbers.

"I know you all—the Crimson Lotus Clan. A fearso independent clan of just seven mbers that sohow cented its position as a reliable force," Fenrir began as he stared particularly at Alba for a few monts.

"... If there was any reliable clan that wasn’t compromised, it would be yours. So I can confidently say everything I want to say.

Judging by how much he hates the Otherworlders, I’m sure if you all were one, you would be six feet under by now."

Alba scowled at the remark. It felt as though her strength—and by extension, her clan—was being belittled by this strange man.

Still, she forced herself to remain calm, knowing she needed to extract whatever information she could from the conversation Fenrir intended to have with Grey.

"I would appreciate it if you just got on with the reason for this gathering. I don’t have a lot of ti, and I need as much information as I can get," Grey cut through the calm silence as he stared directly at Fenrir.

"... So begin. Who are you really? How do you know about the Otherworlders? Why do you hate them—and Orion?

Why did you say the Midnight Sun Clan is one of them? Everything. I want everything, and not a single answer withheld," he ordered as his left eye began glowing with fierce intensity while locked onto Fenrir.

For so reason, the man wasn’t scared in the slightest as he stared back.

After a few seconds of tense silence, Fenrir exhaled before finally speaking.

"Like I said, my na is Fenrir Stormspear. I’m the current vice clan leader of the Waterfall Clan from the Aetherian faction. And about my hatred for Orion—" Fenrir paused, staring at Grey for a few monts before continuing.

"... I want to take him down because he was the one who murdered the creator of the Aetherian faction and academy."

His voice lowered.

"He killed my ntor."

"Wh—?"
