Chapter 711: Sister Trouble (2)

Chapter 711

"I need your help. Supre Magus, my sister has been held hostage, please help !"

Grey blinked, confusion etched clearly across his expression as he stared at the warrior kneeling before him.

"Eh?"

***

"Eh?"

Da quickly lifted his head, eyes reddened and moist as tears began streaming down his cheeks without restraint.

His lips trembled violently as he stared at Grey, every ounce of hope resting on the mage who was only gazing back at him in visible puzzlent.

"Stand up first, then calmly explain what is happening," Grey said, his voice steady despite the odd situation.

Da shook his head repeatedly, tears still flowing down his face.

"No. Let

remain this way. Please."

Grey exhaled sharply before crouching in front of him.

He reached out, gripping Da by the arm firmly, yet gently. Slowly, he pulled the warrior back to his feet while locking eyes with him.

"Now explain it properly," Grey said, his tone leaving no room for argunt.

Da wiped his face briefly, drawing in several deep breaths as he tried to regain control over his emotions.

"I... My sister was sent in disguise alongside one other person to infiltrate a camp belonging to the Umbrafell faction. That camp is currently positioned on our land."

Grey raised a brow slightly.

"Camp?"

Da nodded with urgency.

"Yes. A camp. There are several hidden encampnts scattered across our territory, all filled with warriors from the Umbrafell faction.

So have been discovered, while others remain concealed. They are slowly infiltrating our domain, testing defenses and searching for weaknesses."

Grey relaxed his brows, crossing his arms across his chest as he listened intently.

Da continued.

"At the mont, two confird camps exist within the Demonic Clan’s territory. My sister is not widely known within the faction, so my father sent her and one other to infiltrate one of those camps to uncover their true intentions."

His voice faltered, cracking noticeably as he reached the next part.

"It was two weeks ago when she was sent. And now... now we have received a ssage from the other person who went with her saying she has been captured."

Grey’s brows furrowed deeply as his attention sharpened.

"How did you receive the ssage?"

Da wiped his tears using the back of his hand before responding.

"For reasons unknown, they allowed the ssenger to leave and deliver the information personally while my sister remained held hostage."

Grey frowned slightly, his thoughts racing.

’Why would they allow that? A small camp should fear retaliation. Are they confident, or are they planning sothing far worse?’

Da inhaled deeply, then released the breath shakily as he continued.

"My father heard the news, but he... he did not care. He said that if she was careless enough to be captured, then she deserved whatever awaited her."

Grey’s eyebrow rose sharply.

’What kind of father thinks like that?’

"I begged him to at least send one of my older brothers," Da continued, his voice heavy with despair.

"Every plea fell on deaf ears. He refused to act and even chased

away, saying that if I wished to help her, I could go alone and stop bothering him."

Grey clenched his jaw.

’That man is insane. Abandoning his own child to such a fate?’

Da’s shoulders shook violently, his breathing uneven as his emotions overwheld him once more.

"That is wh... why I did not know where else to go," he said, his words breaking apart. "I considered the Crimson Lotus Clan, but I did not want to trouble them. Most mbers are currently away on a mission, leaving only Ash behind."

He lowered his head slightly before lifting it again, eyes filled with desperation.

"So I ca to you. I have witnessed your power and heard countless tales of your prowess. That is why I beg you, Supre Magus..."

Da fell to his knees once more, bowing his head deeply toward the mage, his forehead almost touching the ground.

"...Please, save my sister. She is the only family mber who has ever treated

like a human being. Even though I am older than her and she is stronger than , she never cared. She showed

kindness..."

His voice cracked as his chest rose and fell unevenly.

"Kindness greater than what my father or brothers ever gave . So please, I do not want to lose her."

Grey stood still, uncertain how to respond to such an outpouring of raw emotion as he stared down at the sobbing warrior at his feet.

He lifted a hand, rubbing his temples slowly while sinking into deep thought.

’This situation feels strange. Why would the Umbrafell camp allow the ssenger to leave and deliver such a ssage when they are aware of how powerful Da’s father truly is?’

His brows knitted tighter.

’It feels like overconfidence, or perhaps deliberate provocation. Do they possess a hidden trump card? Or is this entire incident a trap, a bait ant to lure soone important out? Did Da’s father realize this danger, which is why he refused to move?’

He paused, the sound of Da’s muffled sobs filling the surrounding space as more broken pleas spilled from the warrior’s lips.

’I cannot deny that Da has been extrely helpful since I arrived in this faction. He aided

in expanding my pill business, handed

the book that allowed

to craft and modify weapons properly, and now he even plans to support

during the coup.’

Grey’s gaze sharpened.

’Soone he deeply cares about is in serious trouble. I could go. I could intervene. Yet sothing about this entire situation feels... suspicious.’

"Supre Magus..."

Grey finally released a sharp breath before bending forward and pulling Da back to his feet.

His expression was calm, empty, devoid of visible emotion as his eyes t the warrior’s tear filled gaze.

"I have never seen you break down like this before ."

He paused briefly, then continued:

"Even when your father sent you on a mission ant to kill you, you did not collapse or seek my assistance like this. It is clear that this matter is extrely important to you."

He stopped speaking again, watching Da closely as faint hope began to flicker across the warrior’s face.

"D...does that an you will help?"

"..."

Silence enveloped the area for several heartbeats as Grey stared straight into Da’s eyes.

Then, with a weak sigh, the mage shook his head firmly.

"I am sorry, but I cannot help you."

It felt as though glass shattered inside Da’s mind.

His mouth fell open, shock freezing his features as the faint smile vanished instantly. The light within his eyes dimd completely, disbelief flooding his senses as his ears rejected the words he had just heard.

"Wh...what?"

His voice erged as a hoarse whisper, confusion and dread tangled together, barely strong enough to escape his throat.
