Chapter 610: I’m just getting started!

Chapter 610

Crashing in between Rivock and the demon was a gargantuan gargoyle.

It dwarfed everything else in the coliseum, easily standing five tis the height of a man.

Its body was carved from pure obsidian, smooth in so places, jagged and cracked in others, like volcanic stone cooled mid-eruption. Despite its stillness, everybody could feel a suffocating pressure radiating from it, like a silent warning of impending doom.

Its eyes glowed gold, not just reflecting the light, but emanating an unnatural, divine luminance that made everybody’s skin prickle. They weren’t lifeless gemstones. They were alive, watching, analyzing, and waiting.

In its massive hands, held like a grim offering, was a towering greatsword, its blade the color of freshly spilled blood. It pulsed faintly, as if it too were alive and breathing.

The sword’s surface was jagged and etched with runes, forged as though in a storm of hatred and fire.

Embedded in the gargoyle’s clawed hands were gauntlets, the sa blood-red hue as the blade — thick, rune-carved, and humming with restrained power. It was clear that the sword and gauntlets were not rely wielded by the creature, but had beco part of it, rging seamlessly with its monstrous fra.

The gargoyle’s armor was a mixture of red and black, its shoulder plates jagged and spiked, and its chestpiece layered with overlapping plates that glead faintly under the room’s eerie glow.

Black like the void. Red like fury. The armor seed almost ceremonial, yet fully functional, designed for destruction, as if made for a dark monarch marching into battle.

The greatsword was pointed forward, straight at the demon, which now leaped back in fright, clearly stunned. Dust settled around the area, allowing everyone to get a full, unobstructed look at the gargoyle’s terrifying form.

"Hu...huh? What...what is that?" Ray asked, awe and confusion threading through his voice as he stared at Thalos in his true form, no longer disguised as a human.

"Where did it co from?" Finral added, his skin prickling from the cold aura radiating off the gargoyle.

Click, Click, Click!

The sound of footsteps drew everyone’s attention as they instinctively turned toward it, eyes wide.

Flutter!

The sound of a robe fluttering echoed across the battlefield, and soon enough, they saw Grey standing beside Thalos, clad in a long, dark robe.

Earlier, his shirt had been burnt off by Rivock during their duel, leaving his torso bare, but now he had draped the robe over himself, restoring an aura of authority and composure.

"Thank you all," the Supre Magus began, keeping his gaze fixed on the demon without flinching.

Mada quickly rushed over, dragging Rivock out of the way and allowing him to kneel in sorrow a few tres back, his head still bowed low.

"Do not leave his side," Mada ordered Noelle, then drew his sword and staggered forward alongside Sera, until they both stood beside Grey.

"Grey, why didn’t you join in sooner?" Sera asked, blood dripping from a wound on her forehead, streaking her face, yet she remained steady and ready, taking a stance.

"And why the hell is a peasant like you thanking us?!" Mada added coldly, his deep frown sharpening his features.

"Because of you all distracting the demon, I finally figured out what its skill is. I do not know if we will all survive this, but I will make sure we all have a chance to win," Grey replied, crossing his arms across his chest as he stared at the demon with unwavering focus.

"Skill? What is its skill?" Sera asked.

"It makes use of invisible, razor-sharp strings. That is why none of you could see them, and I do not need to tell you how deadly it is," Grey explained, gesturing toward Jared’s diced-up body. "I do not know its full range limit, nor do I know if we can break it, but I think I can sense it when it is active."

’I think,’ he added inwardly, emphasizing the slight uncertainty that still lingered.

"Impressive," Gil chuckled loudly, licking its claws with dark amusent as its gaze locked on Grey. "I wondered why you refused to join in, but now I see that you wanted to study

first."

"Indeed," Grey replied simply, staring down at his palms as he concentrated, calculating, and analyzing.

’I do not have any Ki left, but I still have a fair amount of mana. I should not need to use my pills yet,’ he thought, glancing back up to keep his focus on the demon, ready for the coming clash.

"I need to tell you sothing though," Grey began, his gaze fixed on the demon with a slight frown. "You made a mistake by coming through that portal."

Snap!

Grey’s fingers rang out sharply, and the demon quickly glanced up, only to see a dozen lightning spears appearing from above all around it. In an instant, they hurled downward at full speed.

Bang, Bang, Bang! BOOOM!

An explosion erupted outward, blasting waves of hot air with imnse force. The pressure hit both the onlookers and those ready to battle, fluttering even Grey’s robe violently.

Woooosh!

The demon shot out of the cloud of dust unscathed, hovering in the air with a deep frown etched across its face.

"You..." it growled, teeth bared.

"Shuuush," Grey coldly motioned with his fingers. "Take one more," he added. The demon glanced to its side only to see another dozen wind swords screaming toward it at terrifying speeds.

"What are you doing? Grey, you will exhaust your mana!" Thalos called anxiously, but the Supre Magus gave no reply, his eyes locked on the demon.

The demon crossed its wings in front of its body, blocking the incoming wind swords, which smashed into its wings with imnse force, lifting it off its feet and rattling the air around it.

"Another one," Grey calmly said, snapping his fingers. Directly behind the demon, twenty lightning arrows burst forth with blinding speed, slamming into its back. The force was so powerful that it hurled the demon through the air with a deafening bang.

"AHHHHHHH!" Gil roared in pure rage as it erupted from the crater it had slamd into, shooting skyward furiously, its bony wings twitching violently in frustration.

"Why are you suddenly furious?" Grey asked, sparks of electricity crackling around his body as radiant lights began to form.

In a split second, the light dimd slightly, and in its place, a pair of lightning boots crackling with energy appeared on his feet. Lightning gauntlets embedded themselves on his hands, and in each grip, he wielded a lightning sword and a wind sword.

"I’m just getting started," he muttered coldly, his eyes glinting with deadly focus.

BANG!

A thunderclap-like sound erupted, shattering the sound barrier as the Supre Magus darted forward like a bolt of living lightning, leaving a trail of crackling energy in his wake, the air itself humming with anticipation and power.
