Chapter 457: Humans in another world?!
Chapter 457
HUFF!
HUFFF!
"That was slightly hard." Grey yawned as he placed his hands on his knees, huffing and panting in exhaustion while a dozen dead beasts lay sprawled across the ground around him.
His face was sared with blood stains, seemingly from the slain beasts, their blackened blood dripping down onto his clothes. Surprisingly, his sword remained spotless despite being the primary instrunt of their demise.
Off to the side, atop the carriage, Thalos sat in his disguised human form, his expression almost bored but faintly masked by the fascination of watching Grey single-handedly slaughter the beasts.
’I really don’t know how strong he was back on his continent. He says he lost his mories, but personally, I think his past self and full power are slowly seeping out. There’s a small crack in him right now, a crack that appeared after he relearned his wind magic.
Slowly, his previous powers are leaking back, and he is becoming dangerously strong. I wonder what that ans for the Vayun Continent’s future. How much stronger will he beco in the near future?’ Thalos thought, observing Grey crouched low, pulling core after core from the carcasses.
"Phew! What a job well done." Grey wiped the sweat from his face with a grin, storing the cores carefully into his pendant.
At this point, he had fourteen cores tucked away safely in the pendant.
Currently, that ant fourteen cores, ten yellow pills, twelve red pills, twelve green pills, the magic book from the cave, a pair of boots, a hooded robe, and now finally, Grey’s sword—all stored securely within the pendant.
’I wonder how many more things this pendant can hold. How did I even get it, and who made it? Whoever did must be a genius. I should really thank them... once I rember who the hell I was,’ Grey thought with a sigh.
Just then, he saw Thalos jump down from the carriage and stride over casually.
"I let you have all the fun you wanted, but I didn’t see you perform the new technique you said you wanted to try," Thalos muttered, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, that!" Grey said, rubbing his brown hair tiredly. "These beasts were too weak for that. I needed a tougher challenge, sothing slightly above them, to see how useful the technique really is."
"I think there should be an opponent like that," Thalos said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Just that I wouldn’t advise you to do that."
"Do what?" Grey asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Never mind," Thalos waved off, but Grey pressed further.
"No, tell . What are you thinking?" he asked, sensing hesitation.
"Every portal, every beast world, has a boss of so kind. I’m sure this place is no different. The boss is usually a tier above its subordinates. Which ans if these beasts you’ve been killing are earth tier..."
"Then the boss would be a sky-tier beast." Grey replied with a frown. "But isn’t that the tier you said would hundred percent tear
to shreds?"
"Yeah. Though it’s worth a try. But if you do manage to kill the beast, then this whole world will crumble and we could get trapped in it," Thalos added, his tone serious.
"Yeah. There’s no need to take on the beast for now. Let’s just keep using this abandoned city as a hunting ground for so ti," Grey sighed, turning around to look for any more beasts, but there were none. "I think I have cleared this whole area up already."
"Yeah sure," Thalos replied, as they started to turn and walk away. But a loud shout suddenly pierced the air, making them halt imdiately.
"Di... did you hear that?" Grey asked, eyes widening as he scanned the surroundings.
"Yeah. Sounds like a..."
"Human." They both shouted in unison as the shout rang out again. Spinning around, their eyes caught another building in the distance.
"Let’s go check it out," Thalos ordered, and without hesitation, bolted forward, running at half his normal speed so Grey could keep up.
"Wait! What if it’s trouble?!" Grey shouted, swirling his Ki around his feet before exploding forward, trying to match the gargoyle’s pace. Even at half his speed, Thalos was still faster.
Within a few minutes, they reached another building in the city. Thalos slowed as they approached a door at the front.
Huff
HUFF
Grey panted heavily, beads of sweat rolling down his face as he caught up.
’If humans are really here, my face needs to be hidden. I don’t know who they are or where they ca from, and the worst thing I could do is be recognized when I act suspiciously,’ Grey thought. Without wasting ti, he summoned the robe from his pendant and draped it over himself, flipping the hood up to conceal his identity completely.
"Took you long enough." The gargoyle scoffed, preparing to kick the door open when a sudden gust of wind hit him from the side. He imdiately turned his gaze in that direction.
An opening could be seen along the side of the building. Walking cautiously, they realized the door was just for show. Half the building, at the back, had crumbled entirely, leaving only the front with a single intact door.
At this rear section, three figures were seated, heaving and panting heavily, while another figure paced anxiously around the wide room. One of the seated individuals appeared to be in imnse agony, clutching their side and groaning softly.
"What is..." Grey began, but Thalos motioned him to stop.
The humans’ attention snapped to the newcors imdiately. All three, except the injured figure, sprang to their feet and assud defensive stances.
"Huh?" Grey muttered, staring at the humans in front of him. He did not recognize them, but the attire they wore marked them as martial artists from the Vayun Continent. Not that he expected to see people from his holand here.
"Who are you all? Beasts disguised as humans? Attack them!" one of the three shouted, dashing forward. The figure who had been pacing earlier froze, hesitant, while the remaining two charged straight at Thalos and Grey, catching them off guard.
Grey’s eyes narrowed as he readied himself. The tension in the air thickened, crackling like static electricity. This encounter was about to test both his newly relearned wind magic and his sword skills.
