"Sir Max!" Vanica scread, eyes wide in horror as a razor-sharp talon from a hawk beast swooped toward her face.

BANG!

"Just call

Max," he muttered, lightning crackling around his body in a deafening roar. Bolts danced across his skin, weaving themselves into a full-on lightning armor that radiated with electric fury.

His legs were encased in knee-high lightning boots, and his hands were wrapped in glowing gauntlets of pure voltage.

Arcs of lightning surged across the armor that shielded his torso, but light scratches across his face trickled with blood — a sign that even this power had limits.

"ARGH!" Max grunted, muscles tensing as he gripped the hawk's talons with both hands.

A second later, a lightning arrow from above pierced the air with a high-pitched shriek, striking the beast's skull and blasting a gaping, smoking hole clean through its head.

"Watch out!" Vanica shouted again, pointing as a surge of sizzling acid shot toward Max.

A shimring bubble of protection ford instantly in front of him — Arthur's work — but it only lasted a heartbeat before hissing away under the corrosive fluid.

Still, it bought Max just enough ti to leap sideways, the acid splashing into the ground and lting a deep, blackened crater.

"Damn it! These hawks are relentless!" Vorden growled as another screeching beast descended upon him.

With a flick of his fingers, a thick, obscuring mist coiled around him like smoke, allowing him to vanish and evade the incoming strike.

"Gordon! How long?!" Arthur barked, sweat beading his brow.

Gordon's hands were stretched out, arcane energy swirling before him. A thick purple cloud coalesced in front of him, forming a construct of unknown power, even as hawk beasts continued pouring from the rift in the sky like a nightmarish flood.

Max exhaled sharply, stepping forward. Raising his index finger to the heavens, a massive orb of lightning began to crackle into existence above him, swirling with chaotic energy.

With a sudden snap, he flicked his finger forward — and the glowing sphere shot into the sky like divine judgnt. It tore through the air with a sonic boom, crashing into the fresh wave of hawk beasts.

A blinding explosion lit up the battlefield as the beasts disintegrated midair, their cries swallowed by thunder. The lightning sphere continued its trajectory, shooting straight into the portal — where a deafening BOOM erupted from within.

Vorden stood frozen, eyes blinking rapidly at the scale of destruction. Even Arthur and Gordon stared with jaws slack as Max singlehandedly annihilated over a hundred Level 8 beasts with a single strike.

Monts earlier, Vorden and Gordon had returned after evacuating civilians, assuming the worst was over. Clearly, they had miscalculated.

"We need to close those portals now," Max said urgently, already scanning the battlefield. "If we don't, this will keep happening, and eventually we'll run out of mana."

His eyes dropped to the lower levels of the arena — and there, amid smoke and chaos, Charlotte was locked in battle with a towering ogre.

'I need to help Charlotte… and protect Grey,' he thought, preparing to leap into the fray when—

"ARGHHHH!"

Max's head snapped around at the scream. Vanica stood frozen, arm trembling as she pointed toward the portal. More hawks — hundreds — were bursting through again, their talons gleaming and shrieks piercing the sky.

"Ugh… what the hell?!" Max muttered, gritting his teeth. Once again, he braced himself for a brutal round of combat.

anwhile, elsewhere in the arena…

"Curses," Amir muttered, hearing the heavy footfalls of sothing massive. He lunged backward just in ti to dodge a hulking ogre's hamr, which smashed into the ground, cracking the stone beneath.

In retaliation, Amir thrust a tal spear forward with blistering speed — but the ogre t it mid-air with its hamr, deflecting the strike with brute strength.

Without hesitation, ten ogres charged at once, their thunderous footsteps shaking the earth. Amir exhaled slowly, and two tal swords materialized in his hands. With a burst of speed, he t them head-on.

SWOOSH!

CLANG!

His twin swords clashed with two of the ogres' weapons at once. The sheer force ruptured the ground, creating a small crater. Amir's feet sank into the dirt as he held firm, his gaze snapping to the eight others closing in like a stampede.

Twisting his body, he slamd his palms into the ground — ten tal spikes erupted from beneath, hurtling toward the oncoming ogres.

They halted abruptly, so blocking with swords, others smashing the spikes mid-air with massive clubs.

An ogre to his left lunged with a sword aid for Amir's face. He sidestepped, and with practiced precision, lashed out with his blade.

The sword accelerated unnaturally as it neared the ogre — shattering its weapon and splitting its skull in one brutal strike.

ARGH! another ogre roared, swinging its massive hamr. Amir ducked and pivoted, the hamr slamming into the ground with a quake-like tremor.

Above, a massive tal spear plunged down like a divine strike. The ogre spun and braced with its hamr, barely managing to deflect the spear, though it skidded several ters back, cracking the ground beneath it.

Another ogre's sword crashed into Amir's blade, forcing him to his knees with its strength. Gritting his teeth, he barely held on.

From above, a shadow lood — another ogre leapt into the air, its giant sword raised high, poised to end him.

"Yo, Captain!"

A voice echoed just in ti.

A serpentine water beast surged forward with imnse force, crashing into the airborne ogre mid-descent. The creature slamd into another ogre as it fell, sending both tumbling like rag dolls.

Sizzle!

Lightning crackled in the sky — a barrage of lightning arrows rained down like a storm of vengeance. The ogres broke formation, raising their weapons to block and absorb the onslaught.

"And I'm here too," ca another voice as Jay and Raze stepped into the chaos from the underground chambers.

"I'll need to borrow your magic for this fight," Raze said, tapping Amir on the shoulder without warning.

"Ugh… so…so… much power," Raze gasped. His skin shifted color, rippling with raw energy. "I've never felt this before!"

"Raze? Wh… what's happening?" Jay asked, stepping back. But Amir stood firm, eyes locked on the ten ogres preparing to attack again.

"What's happening? This is the

taste… the sweet taste of power," Raze whispered, eyes gleaming. He raised his hand — and from above, a gigantic tal sword materialized, glowing with overwhelming might.

With a roar of sound and fury, it crashed down upon an ogre, shattering the earth with a deafening bang. The resulting shockwave blasted outward, slamming into Jay so hard he nearly flew off his feet — if not for Amir catching him just in ti.
