"Setsuna, what do you think about this movie?" I ask while glancing at the clock. It’s about 7 PM! Today has been incredible. After our night of intimacy, Setsuna made breakfast, lunch, and dinner; she even gave a massage.
She played lots of gas with , talked about future dates and ones we’d already had, discussed many interesting things, and even gave insights about magic and how I could better use my angelic power.
It’s strange that she’d give tips on using my angelic power, but her advice was oddly accurate!
"Ayane, I’ll watch any movie you want..." she says with a smile as she sits beside , placing a bucket of popcorn and several sodas on the living room coffee table.
"That’s great! Because I have an amazing romance film for us to watch," I say as I start the movie. I quickly snuggle into Setsuna’s arms, feeling a bit embarrassed, as the film begins to roll.
We stay silent as we watch the movie calmly. It’s quite interesting, a romance between two main characters who are destined to never end up together.
As the movie plays, I even cry from sadness because of the content; it’s so tragic how hard the two of them try to be together, but it just doesn’t work out. When the movie ends, I’m in tears.
Setsuna holds tight while also crying, which is strange because she’s not very sentintal, and I think it’s really rare to see her cry.
"Setsuna, are you okay?" I ask, wiping my tears as Setsuna falls into an odd silence. I look into her eyes and see they’re a bit too empty, with a strange darkness.
"..."
"It was a great film..." That’s all she says, standing up with tears in her eyes. She starts heading for the kitchen, which I find weird, so I follow her, finishing wiping my own tears.
"Setsuna?" I see her staring at an hourglass in the kitchen. There’s only a little sand left, so it’s about to run out.
"...?"
"Ayane, you like that film, right? You find it sad how the characters can never be together, because one’s a nun and the other an assassin... It’s quite ironic. One is a symbol of purity and the other of impurity," she says while staring fixedly at the hourglass.
"W-Well, it’s... it’s very sad they didn’t end up together, but I think maybe they still could have... because the assassin regrets it in the end and even sacrifices his life for her..." I say while also looking at the hourglass.
"...Your answer has changed. Before, you said that even if it was sad, they still couldn’t be together because the assassin committed too many cris, and regretting them doesn’t erase them. Tell , Ayane, do you think the assassin deserves forgiveness now?"
"To see beyond the lens of the human perspective has made you even more altruistic? Interesting." Her voice is almost robotic, so cold it gives chills, and I don’t understand what she ans.
"Setsuna, why are you acting strange?" I ask as Setsuna looks in the eyes. Her gaze is dead, without a hint of life or emotion, causing to tremble.
"D-Did I do sothing wrong?" I ask, frightened. Just seconds ago, everything was fine.
"Sothing wrong?... No, you didn’t..." Ayane summons her weapon, that pistol she normally uses, but this ti her gun is vibrating with a strange black glow. She slams it onto the counter with a tallic thud.
When I see the weapon, my body shudders. I take steps backward in fear as my head aches. I hold myself back from screaming as tears drip down my face.
"82... you’re recognizing the weapon now? Good..." She says things I don’t understand, but the number 82 acts as a trigger, making stumble and fall to the floor.
"..." I look at her with a horrible fear, but I don’t understand where it’s coming from. Sothing inside screams to run away from her right now.
"Your fear seems worse now than before... I’m sorry, Ayane." She speaks while looking at the hourglass; there seems to be enough sand for about two more minutes.
"...S-Setsuna, I-I don’t understand..." I say fearfully, trying to stop crying, but every step Setsuna takes toward terrifies more. My wings spread open as if to protect as I grip my magical girl weapon that appears in my hands.
"Your current power is frightening, Ayane... but your immaturity ruins everything... You need to rember properly. It’s no use if only your body rembers." She says things I don’t comprehend.
Until a strange mory flash hits . A sound, a click. It’s the sound of a gun’s trigger being pulled, followed by a feeling of betrayal and emptiness, and the sound of a dull, wet thud.
"...Sorry... It seems it wasn’t this ti." She apologizes again while drawing another weapon, a black sniper rifle that glows with a frightening, ominous hue. She aims it at as I create a barrier in front of myself; the barrier is a cube that locks in place.
"...Ayane..." She lowers the gun as I look at her, scared. Setsuna looks at the hourglass, which has only a few seconds left.
"That barrier will stop my current attack. We’ll fight just like in line 54, and in the end, I’ll win... but I don’t want that... Please, can we talk? Deactivate this barrier... I’ll drop my weapon." She speaks, throwing the rifle toward .
I feel I shouldn’t trust her, but my love mixed with confusion makes remove the barrier. But the mont the barrier vanishes, I feel a horrible pain in my throat as Setsuna is already in front of .
I look down and see a knife cutting my throat. The knife also emits that sa frightening black glow.
"No, Ayane... again? Please... stop trusting my words." Setsuna speaks while crying as I feel blood filling my mouth.
"Forget it... Let’s try again. Don’t trust my words next ti. There are three weapons: a knife, a pistol, and a sniper rifle. Don’t trust until you see all three, and even if you see them, still don’t trust ."
"Stop trusting! STOP BEING SO STUPID... It’s so frustrating... If you’re going to do this, please don’t make it so obvious." She pulls out the knife and stabs my head. Everything starts to darken as the last thing I see is a terribly cruel smile on her face.
But despite the horribly cruel and malicious smile, she cries with a sad look in her eyes. I don’t even have the strength to do anything as the feeling of betrayal overwhelms .
